What is your fav. divination tool?
mayan readings, astrology, i ching, scrying, tarot, medicine cards, psychometry, automatic writing ......etc.
Mine is definitely talking to the person's guides and doing a reading from there. Everyone's guides are so different and they have so many little quirks about them......I really enjoy that.
how about you?
jade
I used to talk to guides too, and I found it quite funny having a laugh with them!
Hmmm... Let me see... fave divination tool.
TAROT! TAROT! TAROT! (Is there anything other than tarot?!) ;)
But I also adore the Runes... I don't know why, but I relaly have some affilliation and special connection with them.
I also tried I Ching, palmistry, dowsing, pendulums, graphology, Ouija, scyring, Kumalak (Divination technique from Kazakhstan), reading tea leaves, African shells (A technique used by the Yoruba with cowrie shells), phrenology, and I think that's it....
Kiama
Since I have returned to the tarot this is now my favourite method but I also use playing cards (second fav), Runes (third fav) and am just starting to learn dice divination. A well-meaning friend gave me a book on it, its not the usual one dot means this or two dots mean that - it really goes into depth using three dice and naming them, hundreds of meanings. Just hope my cards don't get jealous :)
WOW! GOOD QUESTION!
Hmmmmm....
I'd say Tarot, Divination cards, scrying, workinng and reading people's energies, & talking to guides.
It is wonderful when you discover that many things in one's environment can be used for divination besides the ones most commonly used for it. I guess the list could go on and on.... :)

I love my Tarot Cards, but I would be unable to choose between them, my Runes, and my Pendulum. I carry all three with me everywhere. All three give completely different types of readings and sometimes one will be better than another depending on the question. Of course they are kick-ass as a team too. I have often given a Tarot reading, and then used my pendulum for further examination of a particular card or concern.
My Runes are really close to my heart too. They tend to go right to the heart of the matter. My supervisor loved them so much when I did a reading for her, I gave her a set for her B-Day. She said that it was the most intense, useful and beautiful gift she had ever been given. The gift of her "Own Self". That in itself was a gift for me.

neat question!
i love tarot, definitely...i always carry my two most favorite decks with me everywhere.
i also use a pendulum, and that kind of works for very straightforward questions or to clarify tarot readings.
:)
I'm the rebel of the tarot forum. Hands down and no contest my favorite are the Runes. Nothing even comes close to it for me. I do card readings with the Crystal Ally cards (I love those), Ogham, and tarot. I can't use a pendulum because I can control it too easily. I am a psychic, and frequently don't use divinational tools in most of my practices. I am able to dowse without the dowsing rods.
EveAnna, dice divination? That sounds interesting. I love dice :) Unfortunately no one will play Yahtzee anymore because I have been accused of cheating *sigh* Yes... I influence the dice. That doesn't mean I'm not interesting in dice divination.
Other than that, not much else I can add for diversity here *grin* I'm just a psychic that's all.

definitely the tarot and my guides. others guides too. also the pendulum which i use for healing mostly. for dreams that puzzle me i turn to the I-Ching.
i've used crystals but have kind of gotten away from it. and runes are good. my husband like them.
great question jade!

new river,
how do you use the i ching to interpret dreams?
i'm very interested!

Hi Alleira,
Yes the dice divination is starting to get real interesting lol My first problem was where to get 3 dice of different colours without resorting to colouring three white ones - so I 'aquired' some from a dice game of my sons (he hasn't realised yet lol) I didn't think that I would get so detailed readings with them, also there is no imagery just the numbers of the dice. I'd love to find out more about this method, its history etc. :)
EveAnna, if you find out anything more I'd deffinately be interested :)

i know that the 'teacher's store' here sells different coloured dice.

(i think they are red, green, blue and white)
I was going to mention a teacher supply store as well. I have green, red, and white ones from a teacher supply store.
As far as my favorite divination tool...
Well, I love my pendulum. Beautiful rose quartz that responds beautifully. I carry it everywhere. I also have a small metal one that I carry as well. I find that it's much better if I consciously clear my mind of any outcome/answer that I'm attached to. I have to empty all of that out and concentrate on the question and/or a mantra. That will keep me from interfering with the answer.
I think Tarot will have to be added as a favorite, but I'm just learning to read. However, since I signed up for Joan Bunning's class at Barnes and Noble, I have bought four more decks and four books. I would love to buy more, but have to take things a paycheck at a time. ;)

i love tarot, of course but i'm equally fond of my oracle cards--the medicine cards and the druid animal oracle. the runes also have their place. i like using an oracle deck and tarot during a reading session b/c one seems to feed the other as far as clarifying answers go. i enjoy astrology, too. all systems are tools and one might work better in one situation than another. i really can't say that i have a favorite. i love divination period! ;D

This is of course entirely a matter of personal choice }>
I've never found a more plain speaking oracle than tarot }> Having said that the I Ching can be pretty blunt :D
I think the universal truth here is that if you believe it works for you - it does }>

So far, scrying.

Great question!
For most matters, it's Tarot. Shuffling the cards is so relaxing, and it puts me very easily and quickly into a more meditative state. They are so complex that there is always a new detail or insight that pops up.
But, for seeking the guidance of my Gods, the runes are wonderful. They are so visually simple that they appear in daily life, well, daily.
My tarot, playing cards & (you may think me crazy) my gypsy witch cards.
I know the last one may sound strange but I always get really accurate readings with them.

My very favorite divination is reading with Bits...this and that...stones, feathers, charms, bones, talismans, and other treasures.(especuially if they are shiny!)
It just feels very natural to me...being part crow I think has something to do with it! ;)
But I also love tea leaf and coffee ground reading...
and of course all my oracle stones, cards, dice and devices!
