I would like to add a custom avatar. I go to "Edit Avatar" in my user CP, but there is no option for doing this -- though there is a reference implying that it's possible.

So, how do I do it?

You will probably need to be a subscriber to have a custom avatar. There are
only several avatars if you do not subscribe to the forum. BUT, it is fun to
be one. Solandia runs great competitions and there is a great 'Chat' area. Lot
of fun to have..... you can have a virtual birthday party. :party:

Oh yes, become a subscriber! IMO I've already got my money's worth just having extra sections to look at and chat on!

While on the subject of custom avatars, why can some people see mine and some not?

I can see it but others just see a big red cross - arghhh!

Hi Greg,

If you choose to subscribe, you can upload your own.

If you choose to not, there is a selection of avatars and this expands at 100 posts and again at 250 posts. Here is the complete list:

When you past each post count, the software will cause the expanded selection to become available to you.

Essjay, I defer to someone with greater tech skills than mine.

Is it just your avatar or all avatars?

it may be because it is a png image rather than jpeg. change that and I'll bet the problem resolves itself.
Incidentally I can see it...

Essjay, I've always seen yours (rather fine !) - but sometimes if you change it, people need to refresh before they can see it....

I can't take any credit, RViewer was lovely and sorted it out for me. Maybe that's it then - the oddness of technology.
