Death card in a short story

Summersnowflake

Yesterday I read a short story that involved the Death card in an interesting way, really part of the story, not just as a prop or gimick. I haven't come across tarot in fiction in this way before. The story is "The Princess Who Stood on her Own Two Feet" by Jeanne Desy 1982. I found it in a collection called The Oxford Book of Modern Fairy Tales compiled by Alison Laurie -- it's a great collection of unusual short stories, I found it in the public library. I mention it here because other members might also enjoy it. (Tarot cards were only in this one story, but the collection makes for good reading.)

Sparkling SSF,

Nice -- interesting.

Bring it.

Regardless of future encounters with said story, getting set to get into a bit of creative play this morning, I gain a Jack bird good bit of inspired heat from the notion of "Modern Fairy Tales" -- killer cool.
