Vertigo.. any experience ?

memries

I don't want to make a bigger thing of this than it is but... I have Vertigo !

Nothing ever just common.. shoot. Has anyone ever had it ? Any ideas ?

First of all, maybe tomorrow, I am going to the Chinese fellow in Hamilton who has a store front herb place to see what he has to say.

Secondly I am going to every natural healer I know and can probably round up a few.

Thirdly of course I have to have an additional CT Scan but want to get rid of it before I have that next CT scan. I have an appointment with a Specialist as well but not right away.

I had that ear thing a while ago and since then had to be rushed off by ambulance with Vertigo ! Honestly, how annoying. Anyway any natural substance suggestions would be helpful and used for sure.

OMG! Yes! I suffer from this frequently. Years ago, I caught a cold--just the 'common cold' and as a result did not go to the drs. because there is nothing you can do for the common cold, right? however, unbeknownst to me, it also settled in my ears, and as a result it damaged my inner ear and ear drum. It did not damage my hearing, and I don't recall my ears hurting me. However, one day, I woke up, sicker then ever! I was spinning so fast, I could not even keep my eyes open! I literally allowed myself to 'fall out' of the bed, and dragged myself over to the phone on a table in our room, pulled that off the table, (while I layed on the floor) and called my husband to come home from work. then I crawled on the floor to the bathroom, where I continued to spin and vomit, and other stuff.

My husband made it home lickety split, as he said I sounded 'near death'. :bugeyed: yeah, i felt it too! rushed me to the drs. office, and they took one look at me, and took me in immediately ahead of the other patients. I couldn't even walk. I was like a rag doll. they had no idea what was wrong with me, but my BP also dropped dramatically and by this time, I had the dry heaves, as everything was already out of the stomach.

I had an IV placed in me, and they 'stabalized' me and sent me home, w/meds for the vertigo and nausea. I stayed in bed for days with this, and could only keep down jello, dry toast and ginger ale.

at first they told us they thought I had a brain tumor. :bugeyed: went to every specialist near us for weeks & mos. on end and had every test imaginable! some days were better then others. but most days the vertigo would hit me, and I would be a gonner for a few days. I could not even take a shower, as it would hit then, and I was afraid of falling and breaking something. So, it was baths and only when someone was in the house w/me.

finally, they figured it out--it was this 'virus' that damaged my inner ear. I still get vertigo, but have weaned myself off the prescription meds. I've become use to it, and know not to tilt my head at all--for it will bring the vertigo on. I take showers, and when I wash my hair have to allow the soap to just run down in my face. no tilting of the head--EVER! All this happened about 14 years ago, and I am still faced with it. I do go through times where the vertigo is very light, and I only need a few hours of sleep, dark and quiet to get over it. but every now and again, I will be hit with a really heavy attack, and I'm out for days on end. I never know when it's going to hit either. I have had an attack out of no-where while out shopping! that was the worse, as I sometimes get really paranoid about attempting to go anywhere on my own. I can go months w/o an attack, and then have one that will last a few days and then be fine for a week and have another terrible bad attack again! no warnings! it just HITS! BAM!!!

it's miserable. I hope you do not have it this bad, memries, as I would never even wish this on my worse enemy, (if I even had one).

Ginger is a HUGE aide in combating this. if you can't swallow a teaspoon of ginger spice in a cup of water, then drink ginger ale. it helps so much. and, learn to carry Dramamine with you every where you go, for if you are like me, you'll never know when it's going to hit ya! I have dramamine in my suitcase, my purse, my car, and carry it EVERYWHERE!

good luck to you, and I do hope it's not too bad for you.

also note, you'll have to remember to tell your hair stylist this, and your dentist and anywhere else you go where you may have to 'tilt' your head back. At first, I just had my hair sprayed down with a bottle of water at the beauty parlor before they would cut my hair. because if htey put me backwards, then I would get sick. I often end up sick when I am having dental work--and when I had a root canal 2yrs ago, the poor guy doing the root canal work on me was so upset over me. they wanted to call an ambulance then, but I had them just get me a bucket, and call my husband. they even ran out and got me crackers and a soda! I was still so numb in my mouth, I couldn't barely eat the crackers or drink the soda, but he sat there with me, patiently and fed me till the husband arrived.

Well thanks a lot Celticnoodle. You have described it exactly. What bothered me today was that she said there was an inflammation in my head where my third eye would be ! I figured it was my ear too and read all imbalance in the body is associated with the inner ear.

Your symptoms are my symptoms .. tried to look up in the cupboard.. that's a no no for sure.

It was one humiliating afternoon and evening but I was lucky to have the good care anyway. I don't quite know what they filled me full of but I pulled out of it. I would like to do the natural things as well and since I am a great believer in Reiki and Reflexology (I am one.. that is a Reflexologist) and also in Matrix Energetics although I don't do it very well. I will take that path too.
I am going to see if they have any ME practitioners around here.

Awful to think you have had it for years and have to deal with it ?

you guys...here is an EXCELLENT exercise that works...

and I also highly recommend sleeping with a WEDGE that props up your
head a LOT while you are sleeping.

also just want to mention that your condition can be a symptom of your
"Kundalini awakening" which can happen just by becoming more psychically
in-tuned.

here is a great page that shows you the actual exercise doctors use for their
patients: http://www.tchain.com/otoneurology/disorders/bppv/bppv.html
...there is good info on this web page!

and here is the link "straight" to the exercise picture:
http://www.tchain.com/otoneurology/images/epley-cd.jpg
To explain: You sit up on the edge of the bed...then you lean over and lay
on your right side and stay there for a little while (10-15 sec)...then you
sit up straight REAL FAST and stay upright for 10-15 sec or longer...then
you lean over and lay on your left side for 10-15 sec. and then back to sitting
up again. and keep on doing this for a few times.

well...just went back and the page says "30 seconds each position" so whatever
works best for you!

this actually dislodges any debris in your inner ear...it works!!! doesn't hurt to
try it.

You can go a long time without a problem by just doing this exercise...but
make sure you get the wedge (most pharmacies have it for indigestion and sleeping) Big foam wedge...
...you must keep your head elevated while you sleep.

Love you guys!:heart:Lyn

Ok thanks will try it if I can and sleep with 3 or 4 pillows but could buy a wedge. Always wanted one of those things you sit up to read with I guess that would be the same type of thing.

I will read your recommendations as well. Thanks Tarotlyn

tarotlyn

It is harder with pillows because they slip around a lot...

the wedge is made for sleeping... you can probably find on on ebay...
maybe at a lesser cost than in a store...

:):heart:Lyn

Ok Tarotlyn will look. You know I have an electric blanket for sleeping and I love it but am wondering if there is any repercussion from using that.
I was trying to figure out if I have had the Vertigo longer than the electric blanket or not. I will Google as well. I would hate to give it up. When you are alone it is wonderful and warm. You don't feel nearly as lonely.

oh yeah, I found that out too. after awhile, you become so use to doing things w/o tilting your head at all, that you forget the most normal everyday things and the way you use to handle it!

yeah, so be prepared. i think once you get this, it's with you for life. you may go a few months w/o any trouble at most, but it never goes away completely, unfortunately. so you just learn to deal with it.

oh yes! i forgot to mention that. I also have a shoulder and back problem, where my arms go numb if I happen to sleep flat on the bed, (due to nerve damage), and so I have to sleep on a wedge for that as well. i sound like a walking mess, don't i? i'm really NOT that bad!

hmmm. have to think back to when I began getting more into divination, spirit contact and such. I do know that when my vertigo did begin, we had not long before moved into our new home, and it was most definately haunted! however, so was our rental that we moved from.....so I wonder. never even thought about this kundaline awakening for it. ha! just glad it wasn't a brain tumor like they thought at first.

excellent site, I had forgotten the name they gave me for it, but it was 'vestibular neuritis' and also mentioned the Meniere's Disease. I also do get dizzy when I first lay down to sleep, or roll over. kind of forgot that too. as I mentioned before, after awhile, you become so use to things, you take it all for granted.

I have tried those bed exercises, and unfortunately for me, it made my vertigo come on while doing them. my dr. told me to stop for a few days and go back to it, and I'd try and try, but always would end up spinning like a top, dizzy and sick to death. so after awhile, I stopped altogether. It was so debiliatating, I had to quit my job, and I was beginning to think I might never be able to go back to work. now, that all said, I never heard the 'surgery may be required' stuff! :bugeyed: also, now that I think on it, when it first began, my balance was so off, that I walked like a drunk. I could not walk a straight line to save my life! couldn't drive as a result either---as it would be dangerous to do so.

wow, tarotlyn! thank you so much for the sites. I might go back and try these exercises again, just to see if they do help me now. My vertigo attacks are not as numerous and severe as they use to be, except maybe severe twice a year now. the rest of the time, I have small attacks, and they can also be weeks or months apart. maybe if i try these exercises again though, it'll stop all together.

no, i doubt seriously if there is a connection. I sometimes slept w/an electric blanket, (when the husband would be on travel, as he hates them!), and never recall having an attack when he was gone.

hmmmm...when he was gone!..... :bugeyed: do ya think husbands are a cause?! *hee hee* only kidding. ;)
