Trimming the Labyrinth Tarot?

Mini

I bought Luis Royo's Labyrinth Tarot deck back in 2006, which I really liked for its gossamer feel. But I had two major peeves with it. The Emperor Card is labeled as Empress, and World was erroneously numbered XXII instead of XXI.

After two years, I just can't stand for it anymore, and decided to trim it. But how? I'm still unsure....what do you all think?

Cropped even more:

After the trim, it will be about 2x3 inches, more or less.

Wow. I'm a notorious trimmer, but this is one of the few decks I actually love the borders of. They're so elegant and golden. But I guess if the titles bother you... I never noticed that misprint, is it only on older versions?

Mini

As far as I know, ALL the decks have them...it was never corrected :(

I really like the borders too, but the errors are just going "nyah nyah" at me. I tried contacting Fournier about this for replacement cards, but no response....

I like the first set of cropped images first - the ones that keep the very small gold border.

Or trade it for something else, if it bothers you that much? I'd be interested.

I really feel that with this deck the borders are part of the art and that the result might be quite disappointing without them. But that's just my personal taste, perhaps.

I liked cropped, not cropped even more. Instead of trimming them yourself, you'll get a much better trim if you take them to a commercial printer & have them do it. Shouldn't take more than 2-3 min & shouldn't cost more than $5. I don't mean a copy place - a printer.

Thanks for the offer :) But it is one of my favorite decks, the third I ever bought unless I count the Thoth I gave away to a friend.

I thought of another crop variation which I'm probably going to go with:

I made the cropping similar to the RWS format, which seems to resonate with me. Once I round off the edges with a corner cutter, I think it will be alright. The number of the XXII for the World is still there, but at least the english grammar error is gone, leaving only the German and Portuguese languages. Maybe the XXII for World has a meaning in itself....

Thanks for the feedback so far!

I was going to bring it to Kinko's....i know they're infamous for botching jobs though...

Is the Fool given the number 1 in this deck? Just trying to figure out a reason for the XXII rather than a misprint.

Looks like a beautiful deck in any state.

Mini

Nope, Fool in this deck is actually missing a number, like a Joker in a standard poker deck. Guess that can count as 0. Judgement is XX, and World skips to XXII.

The thing that I noticed about your trimmed (cropped) Emperor is that the image still shows the astrological glyph for Venus, which is associated with The Empress. Taurus I can come at for the Emperor, though there's some association between Venus and Taurus (T exalted in V?) which also links T to the Empress.

That would bother me.

But I love it trimmed - I'm a trimmer, too :D Though the borders are nice, as well.
