View Full Version : Gypsy Oracle Cards
Hi, I got a gypsy oracle deck & I've been searching for trad meanings of the cards. It's a Lo Scarabeo but none like I've seen before-the box says Sibilla Della Zingara. One word meanings are printed on the cards & although they're explanatory, I'd like to find a source that goes more in depth with them as far as the traditional meanings, learn them before I jump in with strictly intuitive readings. Would they be the same/similar to other gypsy oracles? This is my 1st oracle deck, I've concentrated on tarot, but I really love it. At the seaqueen website, I found that many, but not all, of my cards are in the zigeuner deck so would it be appropriate to use those meanings for my deck? Wish it had the corresponding playing deck suits printed on them, just for fun, so I wouldn't have to memorize them all. I really want to use this deck; my grandmother was born in Budapest before immigrating to the US in the early 1900's & I realize this can't be the deck she used, it's probably pretty similar. Wish she was here to ask. Hmmm...guess I can ask her, can't I?

On the Art of Cartomancy forum (Kapherus) there is a link to this site:
http://www.itarocchidigabriella.it/sibille.htm
You click on the text suit names. If you don't read Italian, you'd need to enter the URLs on a translation site.

Hope this helps!
Thank you cardlady! Just so happens my next-door neighbor is Italian. She's lived in the US 40+ years & still can't speak English. Whenever I need to communicate with her, I use Babel Fish to write her a note & I'm sure she'd love to translate. Uh oh, duh, problemo. She CAN'T do that, now can she? Damn. It's OK, I'll find a way! Thanks again.

It won't let you print the translations, but you do get to see which playing card is assigned because the illustrations are from 4 different sibilla decks. Just click the checkbox for Italian to English on BabelFish. I'm using About . com's Italian Language Lessons for the months, etc.
