View Full Version : Creative Exchange: ReGifting Relief (REopened)

Reopening of the Creative Exchange:

Unfortunately I wasn't my normal Virgo self and didn't do a backup of my own thread for the Creative Exchange which is what I normally do. So apparently Mercury is deciding it is going to make itself known that it is in Retro. I am not going to try to to remember everything that I posted but will go through the basics again:

This Creative Exchange is called ReGifting Relief. You grap something from around your house that has been gifted to you that you either A) Don't like or B) No longer have a use for. It can't be something that no one else would like either though...kinda has to be decent overall. You can go "shopping" at friends, family, and strangers if you're so brave for things that they no longer want. Have no issue with this...besides spring is here and is a good time to clean out some of the stuff you no longer want, right? ;)

Creative Exchanges are about making things, does it have to be everything you send? No or nothing at all. However there is a 50 dollar limit on this, this is just to keep the playing field level and even for everyone involved. We are in a tough enconomy right at the moment and this is going to be depressing and stressful enough we don't need to make it any harder on ourselves. This Exchange is suppose to be a pick-me-up, not all that stressful. In truth I can't make you prove what you can or can't spend, it is your money so your decision over all. I am asking that you try to keep it to that 50 dollar limit so everyone can simply enjoy the Exchange and not be concerned with not being able to "compete" with someone else's package. This is a currency exchanger: XC.com (http://www.xe.com/ucc/) for other people outside of the US can convertor their currency to see how much it is. A way to cheat is just a deck of cards is 20 dollars, some with books are between 25-30 US Dollars.

Themes:

If some of you need themes, you can pick one item and based your theme around that. Spring is coming which is another one. Another would be a tarot/oracle based package. So there is a great deal of freedom allowed to you. You do NOT have to send a tarot deck if you choose not too however it should have one or two items that are tarot based. IE: Books, spread cloths, bags, incence, candles if your exchangee likes such things when they do readings.

Important Dates: (this I was bright enough to write down. :P)

SIGNUP: Jan 09-Jan 23
CREATIVE PERIOD: Jan 24- March 29
SHIP WEEK: March 30-April 04

The dates are such so you can have time to create something from start to finish if you so choose. The week for shipping is just for flexibility only, however I do kinda except everyone to be able to ship within that given week time. If you can't PLEASE bring this to your partner's or my attention as soon as possible.

Side Notes:

I don't have the time to make sure you haven't been paired with someone recently so please speak up if that happens and I'll try to change it.
Be creative as possible, even if you have no skills with things you can make a package where you gift the person with things so they can create their own project.
Most importantly, do NOT leave your parnter standing if you do you will NOT be allowed to join anything else I join and will make notes to pass on to anyone else who does exchanges.
IF you have skipped on another Exchange run by SoS and myself you're not allowed to join either. This is something I do take serious. People put a lot of time, effort and love into their packages I do not like to see them burned and will try to prevent it from happening. Unfortunately I don't have to resources to send out things for those who have had this happened.

I do work overnight Tues-Sat 10pm-7am CST so if you do have questions please bare with me as I am the only one running this Exchange. I will try to get back to you as soon as I can. Also have a bad habit of skimming something so please point it out if I missed something. :|

By the way, I would actually like the ugly, glaring purple elephant...:D :P

Fill out the questionnaire how you feel works but make sure to point your partner to it.

Jyscal I'm so happy you're excited about this but umm...your questionnaire is a tad confusing. Would you mind terribly putting spaces between each question? Please??Fill out the questionnaire how you feel works but make sure to point your partner to it.

Jyscal I'm so happy you're excited about this but umm...your questionnaire is a tad confusing. Would you mind terribly putting spaces between each question? Please??

When you fill out the questionnaire fill it out as specifically as possible, this is to everyone! If you like to read put down what types of books you like to read or authors who are your favorites.

For me: Books: Anything on occult, witchcraft, religion in general. Fiction more paranormal twist the better. Kim Harrison, Neil Gaiman, and would like to read Terry Prachett's DiscWorld or get the last Harry Potter book: The Deadly Hallows.

Again this would be what mine would look like, this is so your partner can get a feel for your taste. Saying you like to read or watch movies leaves a huge gap of space of things you don't like. Because I like movies but will NOT watch any horror films and don't really want any. Am I making sense to ya?

Updated to here...I'm pretty sure we are missing another person for the first list if anyone can remember who that is PM me and I'll ask them if they would like to join again. If not nothing major.

*IF* (seriously IF) the exchange is kept to a short list of people, I don't mind doing a secret exchange, if everyone is agreeable. I'm not willing to do a list of more then ten pairs though.

0. ALLERGIES: none
1. What colors do you like? I like warm tones of orange, blue, green, yellow, purple
2. Do you wear jewelry? yes, silver and stones usually
3. What smells do you like? florals

6. Food items? chocolate

9. Favorite animals/trees/flowers/herbs/etc. Love dogs and anything from nature.
10. Favorite types of books? Not a big reader
11. Types of movies? Movies are not a huge priority for me
12. Clothes? I'm not a good person to buy clothes for, but I like things like scarves and wraps and felted wool purses
13. Other divination tools that you would like? Any kind of divination works for me. Something that's not runes (or crone stones), but rune-like would be new for my collection
14. One item that you really would want to have? Norse Tarot. Something from my etsy favorites/favorite sellers.
15. What do you absolutely hate or do not want? Anything that might be considered cutesy, doll-like, manga, or with cats on it.

13. Other divination tools that you would like? I've not experimented with anything, but my outlook is great towards these. A friend of mine used a pendulum and that was interesting! I've not been able to locate a reading cloth.

14. One item that you really would want to have? idk, i like things that have hidden compartments, lol anything goes really. If anything, I'd like to have a tarot deck that I can use as art. To frame cards and such, won't ever do readings with. ooooo, oh oh, oooo, it would be so cool for you to take a picture of something you love and let others receive that joy!!!! like a favorite place to sit at the park or something kookie like that.

15. What do you absolutely hate or do not want? I love sharing things with people, im a tad bit of a pack rat and I linger on the sentimental value of things. Anything i receive would be welcome pretty much. I love genuine things.

16. What types of things you like? hee hee, someone said they dislike world of warcraft, hee hee, well i play that a tiny bit :) I enjoy lights/lamps, odd/off the wall items. picture frames, beautiful pictures. just put a little love in it!

17. What types of things can't you stand? i'm not big on stuffed animals, or modern country music, nor super duper screamo music

18. Any other directions/info for your partner? I'm sure if its something you love, i'll enjoy it. Like someone said before, I almost enjoy the act of finding and putting together things more than receiving!

Optional: What path of religion do you practice? I am Christianity based, but quite open minded

Sign ups are now closed, I will be assigning partners this evening and will post them tomorrow when I get home from work. Which is roughly 730 am CST.

I will also do the secret exchange, so I need everyone to send me their address please so I can forward them to your partner...FYI: title them ADDRESS, I have serious issues with deleting things before I realize that I need to keep them. This way I don't have to ask you to re-send it to me. Please and thank you!!

heh. jenf, i wondered if anyone else was reading the questionnaires. *grin* i only quote dune sometimes, partly because i don't think i've ever stayed awake all the way through it. :P i'm bad about quoting in general, however. sometimes i'll just be talking and someone will look at me suspiciously and say, "what movie is that from?" even when there's no quoting involved.

Once I was driving with my friend I looked at her and said, "Are you gonna go my way?" She looked so confused so I continued with, "Cuz babe I've got to know." Still nothing. The song was playing on the radio! How could she not get it?? :D It's fun to confuse people.

I'm debating on making her one of my spread cloths with a matching bag. I have plenty of time to do both but I'm unsure of colors and shape. I just found a star-shape that isn't all full of holes. Currently, I'm using that pattern to make a baby blanket, but it will work so well as a spread cloth.

Random Creative Exchange Suggestion: HomeMade Oracle

Make your parnter an oracle using either index cards/poster board with words/key phrase and pictures cut out of newspapers, magazines, articles/pictures printed off of the net, and books...just please don't tell me if you do that last one please.

I found something in my house that has set me off on a theme for my partner! and I found a bajillion things in my junk(esoteric collections):) to follow the theme, including a themed deck. How do these figure in the value of my box? Am I still allowed to spend money on my partner? Do I have to do it at a re-run shop, since this is a re-gift exchange? Im pretty excited about this exchange, will start getting some bits and pieces soon :) x

tabi
13-02-2009, 00:31
The money that you are allowed is simply for NEW purchases. What you send is entirely up to you...even if it works out to be xxx amount of money. You simply can not SPEND more then 50. US Dollars by either buying decks, and/or supplies unless it is something that you would need and use without this exchange.

So you are still allowed your 50, but once you start buying new things you have to start subtracting...and I wouldn't want second hand crayons anyway. ;)

As to "re-run" shops as you put it, it is entirely to you if you go there or go with some where else. Just make sure that what you spend isn't over the 50. However living where you do I'm sure there is a lot of fairs, flea markets, and bizarres to begin with that you may find some good things at.

I hope this answers both of your questions please let me know if it doesn't.

I want to paste some things to some cardstock or even cardboard. What is the best way to secure the items. I was thinking something like mod-podge...or should I think about laminating it?

cardlady22
13-02-2009, 09:40
It kind of depends on what you are pasting to the board and what type/thickness and size. When I do my small-size cards, I am using magazine thin photos on index card stock, so I use a generic glue stick just to hold them still. The next day, I run them through my personal-size laminator. Larger stuff I take to a chain store and have them run it through the super-duper roll laminating machine! It runs about $1 per foot where I live.

I've finally come up with what I'm going to make my partner! I'm so excited! Soon I will begin the shopping trip for little extras. I haven't decided which re-gifting items I will be throwing in yet though.

Maybe we could switch up if someone's dropping out. Whoever was set to send to them can now send to whoever the one who dropped out was sending to. Did that make any sense?

Unless they're like me and special ordering something for their partner. Why is it that I'm never paired with people who want decks that I have and don't want!! :D

i have a quandry, however. i've run across a lot of ideas that would just use one card - an art print, quilt, t-shirt transfer, things like that. but what cards are my partner's favorite? we all have "must click" cards in any deck. what if i pick the wrong one? (that king of pents and i, we don't see eye to eye very often.) everyone has certain cards they just like more than others. this could be useful information for a questionnaire, methinks.

so, what're everyone's favorite cards?

I identify most with the Queen of Cups, but my favorite cards in most decks are The Moon, Wheel of Fortune and The Hermit. I don't like RWS or TdM type decks, though. I like decks that break away from that symbolism, such as the Victorian Romantic, Greenwood, Margarete Petersen, and Osho Zen. The most brilliant card ever conceived (in my opinion) is the Devil card from the Bohemian Gothic.

Regarding my partner's package, I have my 2 "re-gift" items chosen. (There may be others.) One item is finished; the design for another completed. The "ordered" part is pending.

I've been a bit naughty and ordered myself some decks, but I made sure not to get anything that I had on my Wish List. Might be a good idea to re-check your respective partners' Profiles too.

Yes, stop buying!! Well, that's "you" in general. I've just ordered something off my partner's wish list, had to wait until we moved.

I've also made a brand new design! I was so inspired to make her something really special that I hadn't made for anyone else before. And I did! It's killing me that I can't post pics yet!!!

I do hope my partner likes what I have so far. I've a long way to go yet.

Random Suggestion: Make a set of Runes:

Runes are probably one of the easiest things to make out of all things and mostly likely have all of the things you need right at home or close enough that you don't need to go shopping. Hardest part is deciding which Runes to use, and making the "lwb" if you choose to go that route.

A set of rocks, either bought or found
Paint pen, paint, or nail polish (yeah seriously)
and some time on the net or book with runes

The other thing is you may want to coat the top of them with something so that your paint doesn't come off. Also traditionally they are made from wood circles and a burning iron, if you're amitions more power to ya! However they are absolutely stunning when they are finished

I just found and ordered another item for my partner.

I'm still well below the $50 limit, but my partner is a bit challenging to package for, so buying is kind of my best bet right now. *sigh*

I may make those runes, though. I still have some multiple matching stones that Horace once sent me. Hmm...

Hey all. Ive recieved my package! Its absolutely beautifull what i recieved and i cant thank my partner enough. The Bird Family is of a model of a full sized Blackbird i think that is so real to the touch i forget its a model. With her babys around that are equally soft and so cute! I do have an interest in birds so am really gratefull for this. Figurine 1 and 2 are beautifully crafted animal figures that i have stored on my mantle in my bedroom and they look right at home there. The Binocular Set is really powerfull they can see up to 1000 yards so i have been trying to spot some birds and other animals, and the protective case that came with them will keep them safe for a long time. The Birds Of the World has really proved educational as well as it has a history of the Birds as well as some unknown myths and facts so its highly recommended reading!

Jyscal
11-03-2009, 17:43
And here are the last few to add! The Nature Guide is really incredible and diverse. An example of some of the animals featured are Butterfly, Snakes, Birds, Seals, Whales and on it goes. Really interesting as i am a devoted animal lover! The Art Set is really incredible as well it features a set of double sided Pens that ill be using to touch up my Nonny Cards before i mail them off. And the Bird House i am busy making now. It includes all the pieces that must be built and comes with the glue and paint so ill be busy with that for awhile and will post a picture once its completed! Another gift i recieved was a gorgeous bracelet and chain which is exactly my taste! As well as the smallest Tarot deck in the world which i already have done a reading with lol, just one card, the four of Cups! The only photo i could'nt include as of yet was the Druid Animal Oracle deck which is absolvely gorgeous and will definately be using it often! There are one or two other things i recieved (im so blessed and lucky!) that i will include a photo of as well when i post the Oracle deck photo! Thanks so much again for this absolutely amazing gift i am more gratefull than words can express!

Hi Jyscal! :)

I'm so happy you finally got your box and you like it. I thought I would be away for all of March so I sent it before I left. and things fell through and I got to come home just in time.:)

I found out that Durban has one of the finest bird parks in the world, the Umgeni River Bird Park. Thousands of birds. You can walk the park paths with your binoculars and then draw the birds you see with your new pens.:)

Once you open the oracle box, you'll see that I sort of got you started on your own collection of the animals in the deck. I thought it would be easier for me, in California, to find you a buffalo. LOL. and a wooden loon and a bright yellow bee, among them.:)
and once you start studying this oracle, you won't ever look at these(or other) animals the same again. :) ha ha

Because of customs, I was curious if the tree face had reached you? U.S. to Australia customs is really bad on opening boxes and confiscating. I wasn't sure if that was everywhere. Which is also why you didn't get any foo-foos. oh well..

It was great fun putting this together and thanks for giving me the opportunity to learn about Durban!

Hi Jyscal! :)
I'm so happy you finally got your box and you like it. I thought I would be away for all of March so I sent it before I left. and things fell through and I got to come home just in time.:)Hi Horace! The box is amazing! Glad to see you back!
I found out that Durban has one of the finest bird parks in the world, the Umgeni River Bird Park. Thousands of birds. You can walk the park paths with your binoculars and then draw the birds you see with your new pens.:)Yes it really is a huge, and wonderfull park and hope one day you'll be able to visit it in person. The company i used to work for once sent me to do some work there, so i got to spend the day for free admiring all the birds, and seeing what goes on behind the scenes. I've been there only twice but both times were great, and now as you said i can go deeper in with the Binoculars and see new things i never could before. The amount of birds there is amazing and ill take the Nature Guide as well when i go again.

:) ha haI just used the deck now for a reading, and its beautifull, i also have the Druidcraft Tarot, and think the authors and artist have made two great decks. My friends have already tried to claim the animals, but i won't let them lol. I really enjoy reading the interpretations in the book and then adding some extra info from the other books you sent as well and think this will be my main Oracle deck for along time to come. Im trying to start learning Druidry, and know animals play a big part, so i think this deck is perfect. Thank you so much!

Because of customs, I was curious if the tree face had reached you? U.S. to Australia customs is really bad on opening boxes and confiscating. I wasn't sure if that was everywhere. Which is also why you didn't get any foo-foos. oh well..Yes it did! Ill be posting a photo of it with the Bird House once i complete it. The face is really cool, i personally have'nt seen anything like it before. I'd like to put it on a tree outside but we sometimes have serious rainstorms so im not sure if it will get damaged.
It was great fun putting this together and thanks for giving me the opportunity to learn about Durban!
HhThanks again very much for everything. I love everything you sent. What ill do is next time i go to the Bird park is take a few photo's and send them to you if you like, as i know from one animal lover to another you'll really enjoy it. I'll be using the deck most everyday so will definately let you know how its going. Hope everything is ok with you.

Don't feel that way, schmedrake! Just because we have "creative ideas" doesn't mean we are truly talented artists, you know. I couldn't "draw" anything to save my life. Although I can read/write upside down after looking over my kids' school work for years . . .

I always feel that way too! Just now I was thinking what else I can add to my package but I'm pretty much at the $50 limit with what I've got already. Not that I paid that. I never pay retail, but the total worth is about that with a deck set, bag, and spread cloth. So, I figure everything else is gravy.

I ordered a tarot deck for my partner on March 10 (it was on their wish list) and I still have not received it! Even though the shipping was first-class mail, I should have received it by now. I tried to contact the salesperson, but still haven't heard anything. I don't know if she's no longer selling the deck and forgot to take her website down, or what (because the site is still accepting payments via PayPal). Sadly, I can't find the deck anywhere else.

Random Suggestion: A Tarot Journal

Find a cheap journal, a note book or even a three ring binder again and help your partner keep track of all of their readings. I read this link last month, which is how I come about the idea. http://www.ata-tarot.com/reflections/02-05-09/a_tarot_journal_why.html

Please let me know if there is any problems!

Remember, you don't want to get your stuff at the post office- it's the most expensive way to go! (not to mention the mean looks and sounds the people in line will throw your way)
ETA: of course, this doesn't apply if you need the flat-rate Priority box.

Check Walmart or an office supply store.
*box
*clear package tape
*roll of bubble wrap?

If you don't want to pay for the bubble wrap, you can use plastic shopping bags and crumple up papers/magazines inside. (Just make sure you don't place any items into the same type of bag!)

Nope, and nope. PayPal doesn't even have a phone number for the vendor...only the same email address that is listed on the website. *sigh*

I should have gone to Tarot Garden. *sigh* They have it in stock (and I know I'd get it quickly), but I'm watching my pennies right now and I'm not too keen on having to kick out the price of another deck plus shipping, especially since I don't know how or when my PayPal dispute against this vendor will be resolved (I'm hoping for a refund, but who knows).

The first thing I need to do is to say THANK YOU CARDLADY 22!! Thank you for all my treasures and thank you so much for all the time and energy it took to get everything so right!! I hope I don't leave anything out!!! I wish I had the means to take pictures!!

I love my birth chart necklace!!! The main color is garnet red and it really is me!! Thank you also for the chart showing the stone placements.

:bugeyed: The Twelve Tribes Of Israel Bracelet is AWESOME!!! Twelve colored stones with a silver magnet closure. I have both the necklace and bracelet on and will wear them often!!!

The Key To The Kingdom SET!!! I have wondered about this set. It looks interesting!!

There is a note book with an experiment to do with the conection between the signs and decans. I need to study more on this.

Astro card charts and book on the Aspects. This is all new to me, but I will enjoy studying it!

There is a black scrying mirror made from a picture frame!! :bugeyed: It really works! :bugeyed:
There is a gold "altar: stand to put it on!

A note book with an experiment to do with the connection between the signs and decans...I need to study this more.
A book "An Astrological Mandala" by Dane Rudhyar

Would you believe Hershey"s Fabulous Desserts Cook Book!! Yummy stuff in there!!!
AND if that wasn't enough!!! The Merryday Tarot WITH the book!!! I love..love..love this deck!!
Thank you Cardlady 22...thank you very very much!!!

Quester, I am so glad that you are excited and pleased with my choices! It really became a fun family affair since my daughter shares your birthday. And it was quite interesting to see how she responded to various items & compare to your responses. (BTW, she wanted to know which fairy you liked best!)

For anyone else who is interested, I use semi-precious beads at 6mm size for the planets and 4mm beads for the base color. The zodiac signs are marked with small 3mm metal beads (in gold or silver as the client prefers). Depending on the length of the strand you want, you lay out x for each sign & replace the small 4mm with the larger 6mm where it should lie.
*This photo shows one I did for my husband's grandmother. She's a Leo; her base color is an amber glass.
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa104/legendaryelement/LDnatal.jpg

The Key to the Kingdom is an interesting little gem that I have been studying along with the Astro-Cards/playing cards methods. For some of them, it really makes the choices of the rhymes pop!

The little gold stand is actually a cup-and-saucer display that I ran across at Michaels! I was so surprised to see that it would work for what I wanted!
*I can't find them on the website, but the tag says it's made by BP Industries in Canada.
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa104/legendaryelement/standbrass.jpg

The instructions for making your own scrying "mirror" out of a picture frame were on the Internet. If someone has the skills with Sculpey or other polymer clays, there are some incredible things you can do.

tabi, thank you so much for hosting this exchange! There is nothing else that gives my soul such a thrill. I needed to mail mine early due to how the pay-weeks fall, but I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else gets/gives!

I just want to state that I'm putting the finishing touches on my package and will mail it tomorrow.

I'm excited and nervous, all at the same time. This has been a constant in my mind for two months now, as I'm sure it has been for all of you. It has been a singular experience to put together a package for a person whose first name I don't even know... just some initials and an address. I've never even spoken to this person on this forum. And yet I care intensely about making her happy.

Doing this project has been such a gift to me. I imagine all of you feel the same. I feel a sisterhood of sorts here, all connected by the hopes we hang on this anonymous exchange. Tabi, thank you so much for organizing this. And congratulations to everyone who is finishing up their boxes this week. And to whoever my partner is, I will love anything you send me because I know what you've put behind it.

Hooray for everyone!

I just now got to finish opening my pkges, I've been gone 6 days and life has intervened..

I don't have the capabilities to post pictures, but schmedrake has written a little something about each that I will include.
My gift has a divination theme, something dear to my heart (played well with 'imaginary friends' all my life) lol
and schmedrake has sent me the tools for my own personal rituals. I'll list in the order she did, but there's no doubt as to my favorites. :)
First of all, my sand...:):) from the Potomac River and still DAMP! I picture Valley Forge and Mt Vernon and the guards of the ancients. I ran my hands through it and saw George and his troops. Really cool!
a my-size-palm held crystal ball with a whole other world living inside. Amazing.
"Sea Magic" a book for divining with shells..I love it!
the Under Sea Tarot, with Neptune as the Charioteer..my ruler..
an assortment of the Best smelling tools to use in the handwritten just for me ritual she designed. included were:
bath salts, annointing oil, Incense, candles, charcoal, holders and salt. she even included the handmade from etsy dishes to use these with!
oh, and index cards for smudging with smoke billets. haven't does these for years and forgot all about these!
and the two things I will cherish the most. A handmade small journal with a tooled pewter designed front. I just can't decribe it! and finally, my pendulum..I feel like Golum and don't want to share. Mine mine mine...but it's too incredible to keep to myself.. It's a piece of sea glass and a spiral shell woven together with a beautiful silver chain. She included the information on where they came and how she got them, making them all that more precious.
I know everyone out there awaiting their packages knows exactly how I feel right now. This arrived just when I need a real pick-me-up and the timing was perfect. Thank you so much, schmedrake.:)Hh

Hooray! I'm so glad you liked them. And who knows? George may have stepped on that very sand. Before George, Indians lived up and down the river. (And I tried to dry the sand out for days, but it just wouldn't dry out!)

Also, I'm glad you liked the pendulum. As far as I know, there's not another one like it in the world. And I also didn't take a picture of it, because I wanted you to hoard it like Golum. :)

ETA: I just looked up the park where I got your sand from and it was part of George Washington's River Farm.

My package will be posted tomorrow, sorry for the delay, but had to add just last one last thing before it got sent off, and then find a different box, because the one i was using, was'nt allowed(only in South Africa). But don't worry tomorrow is the day it begins the journey to my eagerly awaiting partner, and it should'nt take long to get there. Here's hoping it lives up to the expectations. It's Christmas all over again!

"Sea Magic" a book for divining with shells..I love it!

the Under Sea Tarot

I would have never thought of collecting sand/earth from all over the place. That is incredible! Do you have any special places that you haven't added yet? How do you keep/label them?

I've seen Sandra Kynes' Sea Magic mentioned. Living in Florida all my life, the water is a large part of how I relax.

Do you have an ISBN or link for this Under Sea Tarot?

I have to add a bit about my pendulum with the spiral shell. It rotates clock wise for yes and counter-clockwise for no! None of my others do that. This one is very special.:)
Cardlady, I have a large metal school globe with a hole in the top. Some of every bit of sand sent or given to me,(a lot, over the years) goes into the globe. helps me to realize we're all connected somehow and in this together.
The rest collects dust. :) Hh

schmedrake
06-04-2009, 13:25
I was curious to know about the sand, too. As I was collecting your sand and noticed how brown it was, it occurred to me all the different colors of sand that you probably had, too. I'll bet that globe is getting pretty heavy.

cardlady22
06-04-2009, 13:59
I've never been too keen on the vividly colored sand art projects that the kids do at fairs, etc . . . but I could really get into one made with the natural varieties! I can just envision using glue to sprinkle sand from that actual continent "where it belongs"!

We have a huge globe that uses small slabs of semi-precious stones to form the continents. The base has a built-in compass too!

I was so glum today. Went to get the mail, it was all junk. *sigh* Then a knock at my door! I was so excited, I made the mailman laugh!

So..... Quester!!!!! What a lovely package you put together for me!!!

I love the fiction books! I've never read any of these and I am so looking forward to it. I didn't even know tarot fiction existed! I opened the colored pencils before the color your own deck. I was so confused! That will be much fun for me to do. And I love the pendulum kit! I have a feeling I will be buying these and sending them out to others. I love the cards with them. The journal is lovely and would you believe the pen you included, how mundane, is my favorite pen!! Being a writer I am so picky about the pens and those are the ones I buy. How weird is that! I feel like John Cusack, "I gave her my heart and she gave me a pen!" I love pens and pencils and books and paper. I'm such a nerd!

I love the crystal gazing book, it was on my wish list! And the crystal ball is so lovely! I opened it last and it was so cold (we've got snow today) that it actually clouded up as soon as I touched it! So I've been ever so gently rolling her around in my hands to heat her up and she is just a beauty! The imperfections are so perfect and I can clearly see a rainbow eye in her side. I am just in love with her and don't want to let go.

And, most embarrassing for me to admit, I let out a squeal when I unwrapped the Tarot of the Magical Forest! I did! Something about those kooky looking animals has been calling to me for months!

I'm so excited! You put together such a great package. I love it all and don't know what to play with first! Thank you so much!!!

I don't have a written tally, but I have analyzed and re-analyzed your comment of "not I, said the duck" and have decided that it could be simple misdirection on your part to throw me off the scent of YOU as MY PARTNER!

I love used things so that is not a problem at all! I just finally allowed myself to buy brand new sheets, they were on clearance, and I'm in my 30's. My mom raised us like that one cell phone commercial. "These are perfectly good minutes. Some people don't get to keep their unused minutes...." First off, let me apologize for being late with my reply. I had to got out of town suddenly on Friday. My lovely aunt is having heart problems, and had a serious upset, so I rushed off to see her. She is recovering fine now though so HURRAY! I came back late on Sunday and my friend who was checking on my house, and DUN DUN DUN the MAIL, had set my lovely package on my table. I threw all my things down on the kitchen floor and sat immediately at my table and began opening things. I had been so stressed from the escapades of that weekend and the gift was such a nice welcoming warmth to come home to that I just started crying. I had a long day at work today and now have time to go through things again and would love to share the thoughtfulness that *Sinduction* had bestowed upon me! It will continue very shortly in my second post!!

Thank you so very much Sinduction!

This is my first exchange and I loved every minute of it!!! I received an awesome package from Sinduction and am honored to have her as my first ever official exchange gifter!!!

Dudes and Dudettes...check this out!

If you gave me a bag of starbursts candy I will eat the yellow and orange ones last because I love citrus...a lot. So, I believe you, Sinduction, being a tad nervous about picking the scents out, did a fantastically delicious job! How awesome do these names sound, Lemon Squeeze and Tropical Snowcone!!! Holy Muskrat ya'll! There was a wax melter included with some orange and lemon melts in there along with some tea lights. I've never had a wax melter before, so I'm super pumped about that! I have a drawstring bag, feels like an 80's vibe, which I love because I'm a child of that decade, filled with wonderfully delightful christmas themed goodies. I love them! I've had a hankering for a small playing card deck to carry around in my purse and that is perfect! I love the penguin file too. He is a cutie. And I forget if I said I collect christmas ornaments, but I do and I got a jingle bell ornament with a beautiful angel on top of it. I will think of you each christmas when I dress my tree up. Thank you for that lovely addition! A small elastic bound journal, which I love, a sweet looking beanie baby bear and an cute elf pen were also included! Next was a super amazing bag of tea!!! There are many there I have never tried. I've got a Chinese Organic Oolong Tea steeping currently...as I type! Two mood cds were included, very neat too! One is sea sounds with thematic guitar in the back ground and another is peaceful panpipes! I can't wait to try readings with them! I smiled real big when I saw the honey in there. Holy Moley, there is a bottle of cucumber and aloe lotion...WOW, that stuff smells so good. I just want to eat it, lol, but I won't. There was also some Refreshing Citrus essential oil that was there too, that too is amazing. Ya'll, I got some candle jewelry too! hee hee, it is a strand of silver beads and wire to wrap around my pillar candles. It looks very beautiful on my candle in my reading area!

I love all the smells, super good choices! So there was a citrus theme and also animals: bears, penguins, an angel, an elf, a few snowmen, some bees and...The Animals Divine Deck with the companion book!!! I picked it up towards the end of the opening event and just froze there. I held really still for a few minutes. The feelings and vibes I was getting from the package as a whole were amazingly serene and just so peaceful that I had to sit a bask and let the warmth roll over me. The deck holds this same resonance with myself still. I feel refreshed and cleansed after only spending a few minutes with my new deck!

Now I forget the order of how I opened my gifts, but I started crying when I saw the most beautiful spread cloth ever. I just held that for a while too. She crocheted a 3 blue toned spread cloth for me with a matching deck bag. I am in love with it. I get a nice warm, very grounded and content vibe from that too. I have to admit that I slept with it by my pillow last night and intend to tonight as well, lol. I don't know if that's good for the cloth for future readings, but hey, it makes me happy. She used a technique called Tunisian Crochet and it is sort of a pinwheel vibe to it with 6 triangular sections crafted together to make a hexagon type shape. Very beautiful with decorative points making the vertexes between the pieces.

Sorry if that was too long winded, but I am so lucky to have had a partner who put in so much thought with my package, choosing things that are out of her personal preferences and putting a lot of effort into something for a person she's never even met. I think I've said before that I love sentimental things and just having things that other people have loved previously and things they put a part of themselves into. I will cherish these gifts, especially the reading cloth and bag, forever. I can feel what you've given to me and I know these pieces will retain your caring vibes. I will never be able to tell you how much this has meant to me. Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart.

Love, Jennifer

Well don't I feel like a horse's behind! :D I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt.

I'm absolutely thrilled that you like the package! We are so different in tastes that it was a challenge. But those two candles, one smelled like a creamsicle and I couldn't put it down! I added the christmas things because it is not a holiday I celebrate yet I always get tons of things and I don't know what to do with them. So I am very glad you like them. I always have a lot of items lying around here and I feel very much like a train station, having to figure out what is supposed to go where. So I guess I chose correctly for yours!

I gave you a few bags of every tea I had in my cupboard. I love tea but am the only one who drinks it around here. And aren't the bee honey things adorable!

Here are pics of the cloth and the bag, I'm so glad you like them. I was unsure of the cloth since it was made specifically for you. The cloths that I normally make just didn't seem to fit for you and I wanted to make that bag and then I wanted a cloth to match. I just think it is beautiful. I hope it doesn't over power the cards. You must let me know how it holds up! And let me know if the size is ok. That is the first prototype, I don't even have one for myself yet.
cloth and bag (http://www.flickr.com/photos/24673192@N08/3405053416/) and just the bag close-up (http://www.flickr.com/photos/24673192@N08/3404242009/in/photostream/)
It doesn't look as busy in person. The pics almost gave me vertigo!

I'm hoping the bag fits that deck but since it was sealed I didn't want to open it to check. It should fit a standard sized deck.

I'm so glad that the package made it and that it lifted your spirits as well. Many blessings to you and your aunt.

I'd love to do the exchange again - but how about pulling the strings in a bit and having a "deck plus 3" exchange....
i.e you're only allowed to put in
1) A deck or set
2) A Handmade thing
3) One surprise thing of your choice....
In times of economic downturn it would take the $$$ pressure off AND make it easy to opt for worldwide without worrying about postage ;)

I love doing exchanges. What I particularly liked about this one was all the time. Since I do a lot of hand-made things it was nice to not be rushed for once. It also let me budget more money into it, since I'm on a limited income.

I LIKE this idea! In addition to the reasons listed by Vladaria, it would also take the pressure off those who feel that the package they created for their partner was somehow inadequate because it was not as elaborate or creative as others. This way, everyone's package would be a bit more equal.

The trouble is as soon as we start allowing "Add ons" people can start to feel pressured..and it starts adding postage costs so it means people are more likely to say USA/UK only. I'd really like to open things up so that when the packages start flying people aren't delaying because they feel they ought to add extra bits and pieces.

Don't get me wrong, I loved doing this exchange but the cost for postage was over £40 ($60) because all those fun little extras add tons of weight...
Hopefully with a longish lead time again and only three things to think of people will concentrate on three small quality items with lots of thought and attention :)

How about a "Little things mean a lot" exchange ~ we could always do a big one again later but this could be a "blow off steam" & no ones excluded exchange. It also means that the packages would be light enough to send Airmail.

From a purely personal point of view a few smaller exchanges would be quite uplifting and hopefully I'd get to play with more people. Big exchanges make me either feel mean for making lightweight parcels/compromising on weight or robbed by the postal service for postage :(

OMG I seem to have written an essay, sorry (retreats back into corner)

I'm a cheater. I admit it.

I'd love to do another exchange. And I'll try to play by the rules.

If we do an anonymous one, Tabi, I'd be happy to help you facilitate so you could participate. I have a scheme in mind that could keep it anonymous for both of us. I could match and manage half the names and you could match and manage the other half. You'd match me, I'd match you. Both of us would be in the dark. Just a thought if you want to participate and keep your partner's identity secret. :)

I generally offer some one to pick me as their parnter if I join, lately though it is more to do with money issues that I don't join the exchange. I love doing and love making them so don't overly mind not actually getting a package. I do get to see some amazing things that people put together and/or create. So no worries on me in general however schmedrake if you're offering help I may just take you up on that offer in the upcoming exchange.

If we do do the "Little Things Mean A Lot" exchange when do you want to start it?

oh Nic no worries on the "essay" I've seen and read a lot of things on AT and that actually was relatively short in comparison to some. ;)

I think i'll probably sit the next one out though, even though there are some good ideas as funds are a bit short at this stage, but it's been a great experience.

I love Priority Mail! :D

I tracked the package and found out that it has arrived at the post office of the city where my partner lives, early this morning...so my partner may actually get it delivered to their house today!

That was FAST...I just mailed it off Monday afternoon! :bugeyed:

Nice to see my tax dollars working hard. ;)

Oh, afrosaxon! It's me!! And it's you!! I kid you not- I had been attracted to your name back before we decided on secret partners & had even picked 2 items for "if" you ended up my partner . . . and my sister lives VERY close to you!

I opened my box & there are home-made Rice Krispie Treats that she has mixed my other fave, Twix candy bars, into it!
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa104/legendaryelement/CEtreats.jpg
The smell is incredible, but I can't eat one until I open my other little goodies! It wouldn't do to be sticky as I discover them!
ETA: They are super sweet! If you decide to make & eat some, you want to cut the squares quite a bit smaller.

I'll be back with more details & pics!

*unwrapped*
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa104/legendaryelement/CEopen.jpg

The little green one (top) was a pack of 3 lipsticks!
Rose Gold Shimmer, Chocolate Cherry Shimmer (Ulta)
Iced Pink (Avon glazeware)
Perfect for my coloring! Winter season: pale white skin; dark brown hair & eyes

The 3 red ones were a trilogy by David Eddings: The Elenium ~ Now, this is one of my all-time favorite authors & was the only early series that I didn't have. Always found 2 of the 3 in stores, but not in order! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

The 3 striped ones were
~Vintage Crate Labels 2006 16-month mini calendar  I adore these older style illustrations for products. I can't wait to turn these into some really neat crafts!
~Rachel Hale Photography notebook! About 5 3/4 by 8 inches. The cover is a beautiful white kitten surrounded by a soft blue blanket. It has 52 pages, so I will have 104 faces to record a new study inside!
~correction: girasol opal hand-painted 13 stone Witch's Runes set!!!!
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa104/legendaryelement/CEquartzrunes.jpg
The symbols and their accompanying meaning cards are drawn with metallic gold & silver markers.
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa104/legendaryelement/CEset13r.jpg
This is so not a craft I felt equal to trying and it is fabulous! (Ever so much better than markers on the wooden disks I had considered.) If I had gotten nothing else but these, I would have been exceptionally pleased- especially after the poor mish-mash of things I threw out in replies!

The 2 pink ones were
~an emerald green mirrored lipstick case ~ I'll have to hide this one from my daughter or I'll never see it again!
~ 5 crayons tied with a gold ribbon (Just had to sneak that in, didn't you!) The colors are yellow, raw sienna, magenta, gold, & atomic tangerine.
Hmmmm! 5 colors: 4 suits + the Majors- wonder what I can come up with in terms of my first deck design??

The black one was the African Tarot by Marina Romito and Denese Palm from South Africa. It is one of the most exquisitely-shaped little mini decks! About 2 1/4 by 3 inches. It comes in a corrugated box which really sets the tone for this deck. I shuffled and laid out a 4-card spread asking what it was like:
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa104/legendaryelement/CEdeckAfrT.jpg
The LWB mentions the theme of "Justice" where Nelson Mandala was inaugurated as President & that the tortoise design on the backs refers to the "slow coming of justice."

The last one was wrapped in what looks like a baby's quilt pattern (had a duck!) ~ The Rune Oracle cards by Lo Scarabeo! I have crafty plans for this set of cards! (And that means my other set is safe from my paper cutter. It is literally sighing with relief.)

Afrosaxon, you did an incredible job! And it's uncanny how you ended up hitting upon the very craft ideas that I'd been spinning webs with while looking at items for Quester's package.

wonder what I can come up with in terms of my first deck design??

The Elenium Tarot? Or something along those lines. I'm personally waiting for a Shannara Tarot, but that's just me.

I hope you and this deck get along. It's not the original deck I wanted to give you, bu I guess the Universe had different ideas.

***note to all: go to TAROT GARDEN for your tarot deck needs! :D***

On the plus side, PayPal finally refunded my money.

The last one was wrapped in what looks like a baby's quilt pattern (had a duck!)

In the spirit of the exchange, I was re-using all of my tissue paper...ducks, stripes, and all! I even wrapped the tarot deck in the tissue paper that came with a recent MAC cosmetic purchase. LOL

before i get to the very very very nice package squeeing post, allow me to tell you all the boneheaded thing i did this morning. no, really, it'll be fun.

i came home from work (went sick, couldn't find a replacement) and picked the package from the lovely and talented jennyfunk off of the table that collects my mail... and found that when i opened my returned "sent" package to add fudge to it (chocolate amaretto swirl and dark chocolate caramel... something or other), i'd sealed it back up and sent it back out without putting the explanation letter back in. *D'OH!*

i mean, i didn't send anything terribly bizarre, but one likes to add more personal commentary than just, "from stefficus" to these types of things.

i am a huge dork. *grin*

soooooo, i stuffed that and a couple of other things in an envelope and trekked out to the mailbox. after that i was more than ready to crash, so i ended up bringing the package to work and opening it here.

if, as has been my luck lately, my partner should get the explanatory envelope before the package, please save it.

now, to the good stuff. :D

first, may i just say, i LOVE the light-bulb jar. i was like a little kid (ok, i'm like that anyway, but you know what i mean) going on about how cool it was. this set the tone for the whole package.

there was a prayer bracelet, which is not something i use but i HAVE suddenly started wearing bracelets lately, and i will definitely use this as something to help along my meditation, which has suffered greatly over the past few years. it'll remind me, all the time, and that's a good thing.

she sent me a recruit for my robot zombie monkey army! HE FLIES. he's... well, ok, he's not a zombie, or a robot, BUT HE FLIES. and he's got a cape, and a mask! he can be recon. :D

then there was a tube of yummmmmmy-smelling body wash, and some chocolate-covered coffee beans nom. i found a set of colored fridge magnets to put my own sigils on, which is a splendid idea that i'll absolutely be doing... i'm all about that. great idea!

OMG I GOT THE FANTOD I GOT THE FANTOD!! *hugs it* i've tried for it a few times lately and always been thwarted - but now it's MINE. *MUhahahaha*

and there's a sparkly, funky pendulum with shiny stuff all over it! this'll probably live with me, possibly hanging from my rearview mirror. woot! it's lovely! and, did i mention, sparkly?

there was a huge ball of variegated yarn in deep, dusky colors, and a skein of the same stuff. this'll keep me outta trouble for a long time. i will have a scarf from it, because that's all i know how to knit.

i get to feed my science fiction addiction with a DVD of forbidden planet and a science fiction hall of fame anthology. i don't think i've mentioned it, but i love short stories like no other form of literature, and i probably have over 20 of these collections... but not this one. score! ;)

next up, the tarot of the dead, along with a hand-made, multi-colored string wrap with little grinning skulls dangling from it to tie it up with. ANOTHER wish list item!! another box held the string and teas (tazo, yummmm!) which was too small to hold the TotD (it comes with an organza bag anyway, which is spiff because i'll be able to see the tie through the bag), but my intuitive deck fits in it perfectly.

at the very bottom is a red zen journal, with quotes on each page and sections corresponding to the eight pillars. i am a journal fool, and she says this particular one kept popping up, which amuses me for reasons which will become clear in a day or so.

i read the letter that went through all the inclusions, and that's when i realized there was stuff inside the ball of yarn. :bugeyed: all sorts of stuff was wrapped up in it, little gems and bath sample stuff and more tea and, you guys, a mini etch-a-sketch! i know you're jealous, and i'm not even being sarcastic.

most importantly, there was a hexagonal hunk of polished pink dolomite - kinda like a worry stone. it actually IS very soothing to hold, and it's staying in my pocket right now.

i have to get over being sick now, because i have to accost random people in the streets and gloat about what i got. thank you, thank you, THANK YOU jennyfunk!! dis most awsum pakij evah. ;) love it to death. *dance*

ETA: the monkey has a battle cry! *rofl* and let me tell you, the acoustics in here are GREAT. hehe.

I don't wear the one I use. That thing is probably too big to wear, I hold it and the beads soothe me. Moving to each new, cool to the touch bead is nice, lol.

Ya'll...I went to mail this during my lunch hour...bad idea cuz it was packed with folks. So I get to the counter and LAY the box up there...because I jammed that box full of stuff the voicebox of the monkey activated and he let out his battle cry in a very packed, but very silent post office...It made half the people laugh and giggle and the others, well, they gave me very strange looks! So fun, awkward situations are my forte! I just knew the minute my eyes rolled over him while hunting for regifted items that you would enjoy him. At least for a little while, lol...robot zombie monkey army...killin me!

OMG I GOT THE FANTOD I GOT THE FANTOD!! *hugs it* i've tried for it a few times lately and always been thwarted - but now it's MINE. *MUhahahaha*

So super-duper pumped that you are excited about it. I never even knew about it until I browsed your wishlist! Right up my ally!

ha, dudette, I'm rolling on the floor with this, my hands clasped over my mouth so silly little giggles don't escape at all hours of the night! I love gifting these wrapped surprise balls to people. I realized after I shipped that I forgot to add my little note on the top to help instruct you to open and see what was inside. I mail small little random things to my good friends all the time. I had previously purchased the etch-a-sketch back in november. But for some reason I never feel right about mailing to anyone...until stefficus came along. Oh yeah. I'm glad it was received well!

This makes me smile the most. The crystals and stones are a new interest that I have had assistance in facilitating my introduction from cardlady! I just love that stone and had a hunch you'd get something out of it. If only aesthetically.

I'm very glad you enjoyed your package. The dvd and book were regifted as well, so sorry if they seem roughed up, lol. That dvd is one of my top 10 fav movies of all time. I have no clue if you've seen it or not, but its classic. I loved the stories too. Let me know how the magnets turn out for you! As a first-timer in the exchange world I'm glad it had you a little giddy. I'm just beaming now!

My partner was Stefficus all along!!!

I just opened the package quickly and will have more to say after I'm done meeting the deadline I'm working on... and then after I take my dog to the vet. BUT, immediate standouts are...

A lovely teapot.
Wonderful handmade rune sticks.
Fimo-type thingies that I can't wait to find out what they are.
The beautiful (carnelian?) necklace that just felt so amazing when I unwrapped it.
And the Psy Kick game... how could you know I dig vintage stuff?

Oh gosh, guys, there were stones in there and fabric and tons of scarves holding treasures. There were books, including an old astrology book. There was fudge... it just goes on and on.

They deliver packages early and mail later in the day, so maybe I'll still get my explanation note today. Then I can find out what all those little disks and balls you made were about. And what you want me to do with the fabric. :)

Thank you, stefficus. I just quickly looked through stuff, but can't wait to sit down with the package later today and really experience it. I also can't wait to hear what you have to say about the stuff in there.

i'm sneaky that way. ;) i'm glad you liked it!

one thing i know i didn't mention in the letter: there wasn't anything specific planned for the fabric. i thought i remembered you saying so, but while stalking you researching your preferences, i couldn't find any evidence that you sew... if you do, i think it'd make nice lined deck bags and spread cloths, though there'd be leftovers. if you don't, you could just drape it artfully about the place. *grin* it was just tactile and felt/looked nice and, honestly, i needed some packing for that teapot. heh. and, yes, the pendant is carnelian. nummy stone, always love it.

i'm so happy you enjoyed it. it felt weird not including a deck, even though you'd said that was probably the best way to go, and i was nervous about that decision.

oh, and i hope your dog is doing well!

wow - tons of FABULOUS gifts & surprises!!!
My parcel, wrapped in oilcloth, is being carried on a small
donkey in a big metal box, on the top of a wooden deck
on a slightly leaky boat....

Well it might as well be with the bloomin royal mail...
hope it arrives soon I want my partner to have lots of fun
unwrapping it all!!!

I guessed that people will cheat with the "little things mean a lot" lol
"A card bag doesn't count beacuse it part of the card set" and
"An Alter set HAS to have have all the doohickeys" will no doubt be
happening.

Put me down for that exchange too please - international & everything
I am definately going to stick to the game plan because I intend to make sure
the next ones light enough to send air mail...
I also have a cunning plan, my latest makings have all been
charm bracelets and that's only one thing right??? ROFL

The mailman gave me a BIG package today...from the UK! :D

I was right...Vladaria was my partner! Enclosed was a cute Easter card signed by her.

I opened the box and saw quite a few black-and-silver-wrapped packages. OOOH...shiny! I unwrapped and got a lot of kewl stuff:

--a teddy bear wearing a red tracksuit top with the Union Jack flag on it...and a Union Jack patch on his right cheek, his left ear, and also on the bottom of his left foot. (he is sitting on my lap as I type this...I just like holding him).

--A khaki baseball cap that has "Born to Bead" embroidered on it, with pink, yellow and blue embroidered beads.

--a felt flower pin (in full bloom!) in shades of magenta and pink

--two tubes (?) of Love Hearts candy (fizzy sweets, like the ones that are given out on Valentines Day)

--a Mega Vinto chew bar (grape/blackcurrant/raspberry flavor)

***if I didn't know this package was from the UK, the "blackcurrant" was a dead giveaway )

--a WHAM! Rip Roll tongue-tingling belt (Sour Raspberry flavor)

--a handmade notebook with a beautiful royal blue felt cover and an aqua lace tie.

--a bar of Goat Milk Soap that smells so good and lemony! (the label says "litsea, cubeba, & cornmeal" -- I only recognize the cornmeal, so I'll have to look the others up )

--a handmade crocheted taupe...mini-spreadcloth? Washcloth? Extra large potholder? :D Anyway, it's taupe edged in beige. Nice!

Then there was a Hullabaloo explosion in my box! ;)

--two Hullabaloo magnets: one says "Lovin' Livin" and has an orange VW beetle with dark magenta hearts on it, a monkey behind the wheel, and a dog riding shotgun (and which is also hanging out the window); both wear shades. The other says "Ride On" and has what looks like a yellow VW van/mini-bus with red wavy stripes on the sides, with the same monkey and dog characters.

--a Hullabaloo snap-on wrist bracelet that says "Lovin' Livin" and matches the magnet. The background is a dark magenta and it's trimmed in orange.

--A light blue (denim?) Hullabaloo wallet with an "I " and another VW bus; this one has a rainbow on the side and has the monkey, dog, and two extra passengers in the back windows: Hello Kitty and a pink bunny rabbit.

--A matching light blue (denim)? Hullabaloo purse with the same above rainbow VW bus logo on it, and a light khaki strap. There are two pockets on the outside with velcro closures, and a third small pocket with two buttons on it for decoration.

--a black Hullabaloo tank top with a "Summer Lovin'" logo in the shape of heart, with a orange-yellow background upon which is the rainbow VW bus and passengers.

And...finally...The Tarot of the Four Elements!

I've never even heard of this deck, but the colors have me...and the images! I love the images because they are more in line with the non-illustrated pips found in Marseilles decks...YAY! :D And it came with the companion book (not an LWB!) and a purple burlap drawstring bag.

Vladaria, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I really love my package, and I was in a bit of a mood this morning...this really lifted my spirits.

*hugs*

The mailman gave me a BIG package today...from the UK! :D I was right...Vladaria was my partner! Enclosed was a cute Easter card signed by her..
Hooray the donkey didn't let me down & got your package to you in time!!
Does excited dance :D

--a teddy bear wearing a red tracksuit top with the Union Jack flag on it...and a Union Jack patch on his right cheek, his left ear, and also on the bottom of his left foot. (he is sitting on my lap as I type this...I just like holding him).
Ahhh well Ted was the reason you got such a VW themed package! I used to have a VW split screen and Ted went to all the festivals with us. He's been all over the place - since we sold the Van he's been quite misserable sitting on the book case...so I'm sure he'll be much happier going journeying with you...He does have a great vibe doesn't he, must be all that chilled out Dubbin'

The hat was so you could make jewellery in the garden without the sun getting in your eyes (a little bird told me you were a talented crafter)
I couldn't resist giving you a quick flavour of England, the Love Hearts are made by Swizzels of Matlow (up in Derbyshire).

Nice!
I got these from a few Etsy friends of mine & had to wrap and box then straight away so I didn't get tempted to keep them...The Washcloth is hand crocheted from undyed natural cotton by cosmicgoat on Etsy (she made the scrummy soap too)

--Then there was a Hullabaloo explosion in my box!

Well I couldn't send Ted without some VW accessories :)
I have one of the handbags too and all the little pockets come in really useful!

--And...finally...The Tarot of the Four Elements!
I've never even heard of this deck, but the colors have me...and the images! I love the images because they are more in line with the non-illustrated pips found in Marseilles decks...YAY! :D And it came with the companion book (not an LWB!) and a purple burlap drawstring bag.!
I saw New Orleans Voodoo was one of your favourites so thought you might like this one too. I'm soooooo glad you did!

--Vladaria, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I really love my package, and I was in a bit of a mood this morning...this really lifted my spirits.
*hugs*
T.

You've made my day too, that it got there in time and that you love it all has made me very, very happy (snoopy dance)

Just checking: are we still going with the theme of passing on perfectly good - but unwanted gifts we've received? Or has the egregore of the thread changed? I don't wanna do something wrong ...

The Creative Exchange was created in the beginning to help out those of us who like to do exchange but are on tight budgets/incomes and can't really afford to do a whole lot. Hence anything like "regifting" is fine, making the majority of your package, and simply keeping it to a smaller size. It honestly don't matter to me what you send or how you came about them.

There was one last year that was called "Junk In Your Trunk" where you went shopping at second hand stores, flea markets, and yard sales to find things for your package. Nothing to say that you can't do that now if you choose to.

The only real limitation that *I* personally put on this is the 50 dollars. You can NOT spend more then that, this is on ANYTHING you buy. IE: if you are a crafter and are buying materials for a project that you would normally buy to make something that does NOT count as part of your 50, if however it is something that you are buying specially for your package and you will most likely not use again it counts as your 50 dollar limit.

The thing that I stress more then anything is CREATIVE, how you are creative...*shrugging* that is for you to decided. If you paint, draw, sew, write, good at finding great deals on unusual things. Go for it. No one but you can decided what you are best at being creative with but you.

Cool! That gives me total freedom for ... well ... anything, really. Great!

Well I personally have to give a big thank you to both schmedrake and cardlady22 they paired together and sent me a package that is very sweet and funny.

They sent me a package containing:

The Grail Tarot
Enchanted Oracle

Both of which are well were on my wishlist for a while! I've only flipped through them both and have to say that I am sorry I need to go to bed right now cuz I have to work other wise I would do a throw or two.

Ear Candles

Admittedly these scare me, however I have a step mom who loves them. So either she gets them or she is going to be using them on me.

Snowflake Ornament

This was hand made by schmedrake, beautiful need to find a place to hang it. :)

Foot Stuff

Which is actually Foot Work Sea Salt Scrub and Lotion in Tropical Cocoonut. I don't really care for the smell of coconut but this smells really good. :D

Incense Quiet Mind

These smell good in the box so I'm waiting for the lavender incense I burned to fade before lighting on.

Tea Infuser

Who is rather cute! it is a lemon shaped silicone infuser that has a green stem to pull it out of the tea with a lemon shaped silicone lid to go with it. And I just bought tea yesterday too!

Grounding Candle

That I'm sniff through plastic and wondering if it is going to smell just as good as with the plastic still on it. :) Again waiting for smells to fade first.

Flying Ninjas and Pirates with bonus Nuns:

I opened this and start laughing! The tea infuse is cute fun, these are just hilarious. And I do have two boys who I am going to let play with them with adult...well okay I'll be playing with them too but I'll make sure they don't damage each other with them. They are little plastic guns that you shoot out either ninjas, pirates or nuns.

Schmedrake is the one that typed up the note to send me, her theory was linking the nuns with the Grail which would have worked but dude I'm so gonna be scared if ninjas break into the church anytime soon. I still think the church is safe from pirates for the moment. Well unless they start making floating churchs.

Thank you ladies, I do greatly appreciate and love what you sent me. Please know that you did not have to do it but I loved getting it all the same! As keeping with my own little tradition. Schmedrake since you sent me the Grail you get the first reading with that. Cardlady22 the same goes with the Enchanted Oracle. Simply post me or PM me a question. After those two are done, I will let anyone else who was involved in this exchange to have one reading with either of the decks.

:bugeyed:
Now that brings up a variety of connotations for me! My childhood was full of my mother switching between denominations . . . I don't think it would be the appropriate forum for my associations as to which is which. Just pretend it's a Mad Lib and insert your own! :P

I'm sure that "we" speak for everyone involved in the Exchange about how much you are appreciated & didn't want you to go without the fun of being a Receiver.

Re: the offer of a Reading with the Enchanted Oracle
I have no idea what to ask! I've only had one reading by someone else. It may be late tonight before I can devote any real thought to it.

Yay Tabi! :D

This was very thoughtful of you, schmedrake and cardlady22. And it couldn't have happened to a more deserving woman!

Enjoy your bounty, tabi!

awesomesauce! thanks to tabi, schmedrake, and cardlady22!

we haven't been as rowdy on this exchange as some of them are, but there are bits i'll remember forever... and now the ninja/pirate/nun gun is one of them (another is my monkey's farewell battlecry in a silent post office). that's hilarious!

i love the tradition of the first reading with the deck, tabi - perhaps, unless we have a bunch of shy gifters, we can expand that for the participants here? of course, i'm not sure what schmedrake will do, since i didn't give her a deck, but i'm willing to take a chance if that sounds interesting to everyone else. besides, she and cardlady22 have done their part. ;)

Thank you for my Enchanted Oracle reading via PM, tabi! The exchange has been a little window into what being a reader is all about. (I feel like I will never be able to do it for others though.)

Vlad have you gotten your package as of yet? I'm unfortunately not terribly familiar with international shipping so I'm not sure how long it would take.

Anyone interested in another Creative Exchange? And what type? Like the one Vlad suggested?

Totally 1,000% interested in another exchange :) The short, simple and sweet version would be nice I think, as summer plans begin to take place!
