Tarot Arts and Crafts

So I had some time off over the holidays and spent it as any other red-blooded American male would.....making things for my tarot collection.

my first project was a tarot box for the LS Visconti-Sforza gold, one of my favorite decks. So following the advice of several threads on here I maganged to make one up.

Then I needed something to read the cards on so I painted a 24in square silk scarf with silk dye paints:

And so I would have somthing to put everything in I made up a bag that is fully lined with a special tarot pouch:

I've also started to do some tarot glass painting but more on that when it's done . . .

Nice box, scarf and bag! As many boxes as I've made, I've yet to give the whole inlay thing a try. I need to get around to making some more boxes. Maybe next week when I'm on vacation.

Thanks!! It was my first attempt at box making. It was kind of a pain, but I can't wait to make more. My goal is to make a box for each of my historie c decks. I'm working on the Jean Noblet right now.

It may take a back seat to the restoration of the 1910, but I think I can juggle the two.

The scarf painting was just a whim. I had a stack of old silk scarfs from years ago doing costumes for community theatre and had a go at it. It was REAL fun and such a rewarding project. I ended up making a scarf and bag for my tarot friends this year for our Yule gatherings.

handsome AND talented, a hard to beat combination!

That scarf is to die for, make a bunch and sell 'em in the Averts section. I'd love to have one!

The scarf is so lovely!! Handpainted silks are such a luxury!

My favorite by far is the bag. Looks like me and my favorite crony getting together to drink too much coffee and gab, gab, gab. Reminds me, I must brew more ... Delightful!
