Ni hao!

I was very excited to receive today via UPS my brand new Chinese Tarot Deck by Jui Guoiang. I had read a few very favorable reviews, and seen some of the cards on various sites (including this one, I think). But I could never have guessed how truly beautiful and enchanting these cards would be until I tore off the shrink wrap and began to sort through them, one by one.

I know they're not everyone's cup of tea, but I have always been fascinated by things Chinese, (Tao Te Ching, I Ching, Tai Chi Chuan, Chinese Traditional Medicine, Chinese paintings, Chinese restaurants... you name it. Oh, and I am absolutely addicted to the Robert van Gulick Judge Dee murder mysteries... but, I digress.)

Anyway, I'm so excited to finally have these lovely litle cards, and am going to go play with them just as soon as I finish this post. In the meantime, I'm wondering if anyone else out there shares my enthusiam for this deck, and would love to hear comments, experiences with, etc.

Xiexie. Zaijian!

Darn typos! I feel it's important to get the artist's name right: it's Jui Guoliang.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled forum.

Is there anyplace where I could get a look at the cards.
It sounds exiting.

(Be sure to follow the links to three reviews, which also have images)

And... you can view some of the cards right here on the Aeclectic site: www.aeclectic.net/tarot/chinese/

Rosicrux: Greetings! The reply to your greeting used to be "Hau! Ni hau ma?" but the Romanization has changed immensely since...
This deck has been one of my favorites. It is a beautifully conceived deck & must be seen in the physical to be appreciated!
I have enlarged 8 x 11 color copies of some of the cards of the deck (as well as of other decks) as part of a Tarot project several years ago. The artwork has not lost its integrity in the enlargement. Details not so readily seen are more apparent. If you think the deck is impressive, you should see how stunning the cards are larger!
BTW: I have long been a fan of the Judge Dee mystery novels so am very pleased to meet another fan!

I am with MeeWah on this deck. It is in my 15 decks for reading. I usually like large cards, but this feels like a wee treat. I keep them in a laquerwood box.
I have found it is a great deck for personality readings. I might do the same as MeeWah and get some enlarged on to Mulberry paper-like the Queen of Cups and Temperance. Enjoy your new Deck rosicrux- it is a jewel ~Rosanne

I've had this deck on my wish-list for some time now but haven't caved in... yet. The symbolism seems quite different from the RWS deck/s - I'm not saying that is a bad thing at all, just that I expect you might need a bit of time to spend with the deck and right now I'm bogged down with other recent purchases.

Great to hear you are enjoying it though and I look forward to getting it myself..... one day.

This thread reminded me of how much I really wanted this deck. I, too, am fascinated with all things Chinese. The only medicine that has been able to help me lately has been traditional Chinese. So I bought it off eBay yesterday! ;) Can't wait to get it!
