Hi everyone.

I just got given some cards (Tarot of the Magical Forest) and have been familiarising myself by reading the study forum for these cards. Very uncharacteristically of me I then didnt lurk but jumped right in and started posting my own interpretations of the cards... I blame the fool card for this because he told me to - when my first plan was to buy a whole pile of books and study endlessly before daring to offer my own interpretations!

I ave just finished with the maor arcana and I am wondering what to do next!

Should I just start doing spreads and look up meanings for the other cards or would it be better to familiarise myself with the whole deck first???

I have been enjoying make stories for each card so much I havent really thought of what to do with them yet...

That's great to hear! My suggestions would be to familiarize yourself with your entire deck and do some spreads as you go along! It will help you get to know all your cards better by letting you see them in 'different light' so-to-speak.

Maybe try using only the Major Arcana for spreads; some people do! Meanwhile, familiarize yourself with the other cards. These are just some suggestions.

I, personally, am doing the former of the two suggestions. =] Maybe try starting out with smaller spreads (3-5 cards). Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with. =]

Anyway, I hope to see you around more! Either today or tomorrow (can't exactly remember what date you joined) you can start posting in the reading exchange. Try opening a thread to give readings (maybe a past-present-future). You can use your whole deck or just the majors. If you're afraid of too many people, try setting a limit for only one, two, three, or however many you'd like! It's great to have you here. Enjoy! =]

Though it hasn't been done here, it's suggested to keep a journal of your own interp's. or toddle off to the the talking tarot post, or the spreads post.
Ain't no rulz as to how to interperet, aint no rulz as to spreads either.
But if'n ya needs a nudge , do what yah just dids, ASK, an you'll get it.

Yay! I've enjoyed reading your take on the majors, and I'm glad you finally decided to introduce yourself. :D

I read with this deck for quite a number of months before I decided to join up in the intensive deck study thread. (You might give it a look.) I've been spending a day with each card, and it has been really helpful with my regular readings. :)

Hi! Yes, it can be daunting when you're beginning to learn Tarot. You might want to read about the basics of the Minor Arcana first, then start drawing a daily card for yourself to see what energy is surrounding you. Then read information about that card.

Many books and articles suggest doing that - a card a day. If it helps you to remember, why not keep a journal of the card you draw each day, your own take on the card and then how it played out during the day. It takes some commitment, though.

Welcome!

Thanks for the warm welcome and all the tips...

Natasha: I am going to do just that - familiarise myself with all the cards and work in some smaller spreads -I think it'll be nicer to do if I can get a basic idea without having to look it up.

re-pete-a: you're right about that - there are no rules - which can be a bit of a struggle for my structured mind!

Heather: I will do an IDS sometime later... first i will do a mini-IDS ;) I have loved reading your 'trip in the magical forest' - (That reminds me... I used to have deck of cards long time ago that I stopped using because of a trip...)

Cactus:I am keeping a journal - the way I see it I will be new at this only once so I want to record my crazy ideas before I learn too much and start self-censoring. Does that make sense?

Yes it is cute, it makes it very approachable. I find that there is still a lot of depth and meaning to each card and its so easy to make up a little story to each one.
