So you know how to do colours, because it is explained in the vBcode page (http://www.tarotforum.net/misc.php?s=&action=bbcode), listed under "forum rules" -- but you don't know what the names of the colours are other than "red" and "blue", etc., neither of which look so great against the forum background colors. Well, so here are some names of colours which I have discovered so far:

orange
darkorange
yellow
gold
goldenrod
salmon
tomato
pink
tan
magenta
red
scarlet
darkred
purple
violet
darkviolet
chartreuse
lime
lightgreen
green
darkgreen
aqua
cyan
lightblue
grape
blue
darkblue
gray
black
brown

How do you call up the colours?

firemaiden

IN front of the word you want colored: you write:
[color=pink] for example, for pink

firemaiden

then to turn off the color, you write [/color]
just like that, with no spaces, in brackets.

To see all the details, read the page on vBcode. There is a hyper link to all those instructions at the bottom of every page under "forum rules"

The thing to know, is that under vBcode, the names of the possible colors are not listed. I suppose the names of all the colors that work, might be the same as all the color names in something like MS word -- I think the name pops up if you put the cursor over the color wheel. But I am finding the names of the colors by pure trial and error and using my imagination, and anyone can do the same. I am thinking, "I wonder what will happen if I write "chartreuse" ", so I try "chartreuse" and it gets a cool color.

Also, it seems like you can write just about any word you want, if the program recognizes a few letters out of the word as belonging to a color, it will do something.

OK, let's see if I can get this to work!

But you need to spell American style. Ah well!

Thanks !!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

now you can join me in doing "original colour research" and in wishing, out of nostalgia and anglophilia, for the english spelling to be allowed.

If you're numerate but illiterate try Hexadecimal :D

color=#FFCC33 etc.

Worked for me... over a number of years? })

Macavity

P.S. I wonder if anyone ever worked out all the hex equivalents for those "colour scales" documented in the Book of Thoth? Hmmm - Just Clive Barrett and Me, Huh? ;)

I understand how a cat could be illiterate, but not how one could be numerate. :D:D
Hey, I had a suspicion there might be numbers involved...I hope that you will put up a chart of the colors and their numbers, plus an analysis of their spiritual meaning numerologically speaking, and also astrologically.

JUST JOKING!!!!

Hey, I like the colour name Golden Rod. Sounds a bit like a name for a deck (or the nickname an English fooballer's wife has for him....!).

I personally wouldn't mind seeing a list of the colors made a "sticky" on the Tech Support page, if it hasn't been done already.

YES! I have a hard time- with the color codes
I put the colors names in and I get something way different
I know my spelling is bad, but colors?
so since I'm all backwards and stuff-somehow- I just use other every day words- it's fun to see what color comes of it
like here I used words like fruit & icecream! and others....but I'm not going to give away my secrets that easy!

I made it a new thread : fun with fonts (http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20118)

I notice not all the fonts work when bolded. Zapfino, a beautiful script, becomes the normal font when it is bolded.
