Ebay Tarot Rules of the Road

northsea

Let's establish some guidelines that seem to inform your average Ebay tarot transaction.

I'll start with rule #1:

Anyone selling a vintage Aquarian tarot deck will gladly volunteer information and pictures of the cardback upon request. The corollary being ONLY upon request... arghhh, almost every time, someone has to shoot off a question about the cardbacks.

The only exception seems to be if the seller lists it as a rare deck with a buy it now of $70 plus.

I hope to see other posts here with helpful insights. I've only purchased 1 deck there and that transaction was fine. Some of the listings baffle me. Decks readily available are listed as OOP or HTF. Ebay seems the ultimate place for "buyer beware"!

Yes. Meaningless statements:

OOP
RARE!
HTF
Never seen this one before!
You can pay (insert large number here) on specialist sites!!!!
Most massive 'buy now' numbers......

You forgot "haunted!!!"

"It belonged to my great-grandmother, who was a well-known psychic, and her energy is still in this deck. I hate to part with these sentimental cards, but they can be yours for only $$$$...."
"And did I mention she was part Romany and part Native American, and she was a shaman?"

you mean the brand new OOP robin wood that i just bought moments ago is not really OOP? however, i only paid 8.23 shipping inclusive for it, so i guess i can endure a little false advertising.

What the heck do some of these acronyms mean, anyway? I've seen "OOP" on a few CDs I've bought, but they were cheaper than if I'd bought them at a store, and there was nothing wrong with them. I just see these acronyms and go "Huh?"

OOP means Out Of Print. See this thread for more acronyms.

The reason prices keep going up, or at least haven't gone down that much is because eBay and Paypal keep jacking up their fees. Now Auctiva is jacking up their fees too.
