I'm looking to get my natal chart redone as I don't think my birth time is correct.Does anyone know of any reputable online astrologists that could do a rectification chart for me?
Thanks

I don't know of an online service and if there was one I'd hold it in some suspicion

There are a number of approaches to rectification but the one which appears to be generally accepted is to use events in your life. It works best with half a dozen events or even more and, in effect, uses a prediction system in reverse to work back from an astrological configuration that should mark such an event.

There are obvious issues. How good is the predicitive system used?, How close do astrolgical configurations have to be? and even, what would be such an astrological configuration?

You will therefore get 10 different answers from 10 different professionals. Though they might only vary by a few minutes that may not give you the additional precision you want. Moreover such rectified times are often modified in the light of future events.

There are some commercially available dedicated computer programs but these tend to be expensive. General Astrology software such as Solar Fire, offer a 'rectification' option but in reality this simply is moving the chart forward or backward in time, The rest of the work you need to do by hand.

Rectification cannot give a verifiable 'true' time, it can give a time which works best with your favourite prediction system but it might require some tweaks over time and even then it might not work as well if you change your methods of prediction.

If you still want to go ahead, I'd suggest two options. The first and quickest is to consult a professional who specialises in this area. The second is much slower but cheaper and that is to develop your own knowledge and do it yourself - though that might take a number of years LOL.

i second that! its enjoyable though.

i did years ago get a number of natal charts and interpretations, these were computer generated and made little sense to me. it was only when i met an astrologer that it all fell into place, they ,made the reading into something i understood and related it to me.

or perhaps you can swap a tarot reading for a natal chart reading online here at AT?

I remember that Dave (dadsnook2000) attempted to look at this area in some depth so you might look at the following.

Thanks for posting that link to the rectification process. I reviewed it and was relieved to see that it was one of those threads that managed to reach a full conclusion and provide some examples and answers.

As for the process, there are indeed a number of steps (as well as a number of alternative steps) to take. The first few steps are always helpful. The latter steps should not be taken as rigid rules but as likely steps that will prove to be helpful in most cases. Once you feel you have a reasonable birth time nailed down, almost and number of conventional astrological processes can be used to test that time and to help you adjust it to better fit with your life.

Finally, although there is a lot of work involved, it is most satisfying to have a chart that works for you. Plus, it is a great way to learn astrology. In fact, if you don't make an effort on your own, it is much harder to find someone who will be willing to guide you. It is likely that for every 100 enthusiasts that start exploring astrology, 90% drop out in the first couple of months, 5% learn enough to read a natal chart with the help of a book, 3% go on to learn about progressions, transits, and relationship charts, and 2% go on to become capable astrologers. Of this latter group, most continue as life-long students or part-time professionals, very few make a full living as full-time professionals. Of those that do, teaching, seminars and conferences, and writing books offer the easiest-to-acieve paths for income. Dave

i would agree with that, i started back in december, and i love the subject but its hard work, especially bringing the different elements together. however it is worth the work, and it excercises the brain, it also fits in nicely with tarot and my mediumship stuff so its a win-win situation for me.

i think i can see astrology being something i work to earn a living in combined with other skills. astrology alone would not pay the bills for me, i need variety also so it would drive me nuts just doing on things

umm that's an idea but I reckon they'd be a lot more work involved in doing a rectification chart
Finally, although there is a lot of work involved, it is most satisfying to have a chart that works for you.. Yes it was an excellant thread and a lot of work went into it.I really feel that this is something I have to do before I can really start to study astrology properly.
Thanks again for the replys
