Hi everyone

I was wondering what all pocket decks were out there and went through a list in my head, if anyone else knows of any more please let me know. I kind of like the small decks for small hands.

Rider Waite
Albano Rider Waite
Illuminated
Hansen Roberts
Samantha's tarot
Thoth
Tarot Nova/ tarot to go set

Any others out there?

There is a mini-Connelly. It's pretty small but fits neatly into even small purses :)

I have mini-connolly. It's a very small deck, and sometimes I find it difficult to shuffle them. Yet, it is beatiful... I'm sorry that some decks don't exist in a more practical size (such as sacred circle)

Since you are asking, the Knapp-Hall is very small too.
But I don't know how interesting that is... ;) *LOL*

Hi all,

There is also a mini Motherpeace deck. I don't know if I would call them a pocket deck but they are certainly small than the full sized deck.

I just got a pocket Hanson Roberts deck, the cards measure 8.2 cm by 5cm. The card stock is not as thick as the regular Hanson Roberts deck but it is o.k. The pocket deck came in a boxed set called " Tarot to go", ISBN# 0-88088-249-2. The set retails for $11.95 Canadian, $7.95 U.S.

The Hanson Roberts is my main deck so this pocket version is very handy to carry around. Ruby7

there's going to be a mini "tarot art nouveau" released in december, but i don't think it will be published by lo scarabeo. i think it's that "moon"(has a simbole of a moon in a square) publisher that will do it.

Il Meneghello publishes various mini tarocchi or microtarocco decks -- generally miniatures of decks they publish in standard size. Among those availabe are: Napoleonici, della Musica, Soprafino, Mantegna, and others.

I think some of them come in four-packs.

I believe that a pocket Goddess Tarot (Kris Waldherr) will be put out soon if it isn't already out...

Thanks for the link Rusty. Now I know where to get all the decks that I can't find anywhere else! I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. The microtarocco sets are tiny. Anyway off I go to continue looking and drooling, Ruby7

You can also check the US Games Website, www.usgamessystems.com they make many of their decks in pocket size and miniature. Their mail catalog is a treat.

The African Tarot is quite small. As far as I know, there isn't a big version available- it isn't a miniaturized deck, it's simply little.

Phoenix, there's a POCKET Universal Waite? Is it out of print, then? I've been looking and looking for one. I've got the miniature version, but it's not terribly practical -- one wrong move, and the weensy cards sprong all over the room. I would really like to have a half-size or playing-card size version for carting around, and if there is such a thing, mayhap I can find it used/for trade.

Really small and available at tarotgarden.com

Miracle Tarot also seems to be pocket size.

Both decks seem to be about the size of the Oracle of the Radiant Sun or the 1995 Lo Scarabeo edition of the Trevisan Tarots of the Renaissance. I'll also check my one catalogue of LS and see what pocket-size 78 card decks they plan to offer, aside from the Nouveau mentioned earlier.

I ordered the 4-pack micro versions and ended up giving them away to those who love to collage, as the were as big as a fingerprint or postage stamp and tended to fall all over the place---like grains of rice. I did keep one very small mini tarocco.

I'm going to try to use my 2.25 x 1.25 inch Soprafino deck, but I am keeping the ribbon-cardboard tied 'book' in a small drawstring bag meant for rune stones. There's no booklet, so I'm using a copy of my LS Ancient Italian Tarots folded over. I had opened it in the car and instantly, one card flew down between the seats. It's big enough to spot, but these small cards do fly around.

I also ended up pasting the cards of my small and delicate Universal Tarots by Mary Hanson Roberts--the one that comes in a keychain--in a 3 inch by 5 inch notepad that had a pretty cover. It'll be a Rider-Waite-Style reference for travel.

In August, supposedly the Los Scarabeo Mignon-sized decks will be available...and in the list, Sylvia Alasia's Egyptian will be available in the Mignon size. I'll use it for study until the kit with the book and full-size deck come out in December 2003. (She did Tarot of the Spynx (blue backed version)/Neferteri (black and gold) and Etruscan, which are full size decks).

Hi Mari,

Do you know the measurements for "mignon" sized? That's a great idea for the tiny Universal Waite tarot cards, I have them and they do fly around, I might do something similar, Ruby7

The documentation said "44 x 88mm" and it was a brochure mailed with a different special order. I signed up for a catalogue more than a few times, but I only received a catalogue and email only after I special ordered through Wonderful Tarots

I don't have a conversion ruler or table handy--but I hope you can find the size equivalent.

Mari,
Those measurements would be aprox 1 3/4 in x 3 1/2 in. About the width of and just a bit longer than the minature rider's.

I was lucky enough to get a discounted 'The complete tarot kit' by Susan Levitt, included in the kit are two decks - the Thoth and the Rider Waite, measuring 2 1/4 inch by 3 1/2 inch. The decks are both really good quality, as nice as the original large decks. The books in the kit are interesting, a journal/workbook and an introduction to tarot book, but it was the decks I really wanted, just the right size lol :)

as the new mignion decks:

* Tarocchi Art Nouveau - Tarot Art Nouveau Mignon
* Tarocchi Egiziani - Egyptian Tarot Mignon
* Tarocchi Universali - Universal Tarot Mignon
* Tarocchi della Nuova Visione - Tarot of the New Vision Mignon
* Tarocchi dei Folletti - Fairy Tarot Mignon

LS: Fairy Tarot by Antonio Lupatelli
LS: Egyptien by Sylva Alasia
LS: Nouveau by Antonia Caselli
LS: Universal Tarot by Roberto de Angelis

I haven't seen the New Vision or Egyptian yet in stores. I bought the Roberto de Angelis one for about eleven dollars and don't see any misprints or anything. The booklets only give keywords, lack the small description of tarot history and Roberto De Angelis' ideas of painting this tarot from the 14 page fullsize booklet.

I bought the De Angelis one because I've liked the images before...actually I find myself using this small deck as a secondary one to doing spreads using the Miracle Tarot...the De Angelis deck is very pretty and I'm pleased to be using it finally.

I bought the Art Nouveau mini a couple of days ago at Borders. I'm not quite sure what to do with it -- maybe use it for collage. I'm not that fond of it, so I'm glad I didn't get the large one.

It's very pretty. Maybe too pretty. I don't get a great deal out of these cards.

Lo Scarabeo has a mini version of the Universal Tarot by Roberto de Angelis, that's a good deck for RWS fans.

I had the same reaction when I bought the mini version. I imagine it would be interesting for relationship spreads, for fairly obvious reasons, if you look at the designs on the cards; yet something about them also seems sort of bland. The kings seem almost interchangable: huge men with tiny women. But I agree, they are very pretty.

Perhaps a collage is indeed the best course of action for these...

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but i thought I'd add the pocket sized Sharman-Caselli to this list. I got it as part of a set called 'the tarot box', it comes with a little book and jigsaw pieces to make a board that shows the positions for two spreads.

The the box set is geared towards the beginner, but is only $20AUD, entirely worth it for such an adorable little deck.

Fournier has a very small T. deM. deck that certainly would fit in a pocket. In fact, it is just large enough to handle with several fingers and do spreads on an airline seatback table. It is NOT so tiny that you would have to use tweezers. It would measure (roughly) 1.25 inches by 2.1 inches. The cardstock is almost as heavy as their regular decks, so the cards are less inclined to flutter away. This is about as compact as they come and still be useful.
