Beetle stone

My husband brings home, usually polished, stones he's attracted to and leaves them all over the house. I just found one which is polished black and shaped like a tear drop. It's about two inches long, and 1 1/2 at its widest part. It has a calcified (I think it's calcified) beetle shell imbedded in it. The shell seems to be articulated.

I don't know what the black stone is, and likely it can't be identified from my description. What I'm curious about is whether such "enriched" stones have any special meaning, or magical use.

Since what you have seems to me to be a kind of fossil, I looked up "Fossil" in Melody and here's a paraphrasing:

You can use it "to both heighten and supplement one's accomplishments in the business realm" and "to dispense with old 'programming'". Or whatever.

One kind of shiny black stone is obsidian, so maybe that's what it is. I haven't heard of fossils in obsidian, but I would not rule anything out. I'm not an expert by any means.

The Egyptian symbol of the Scarab represented the dung beetle. Perhaps you could get some insight throught researching this symbol. Even if your specimen is not an actual scarab beetle, since it is still a beetle, some of that lore still clings to it by way of relations.

Another thought -- if it's really not a beetle, it might be a trilobite. I think they can be that small. They are prehistoric creatures that look sort of like beetles or millipede-like things.
