Lovely stone , but what does it do ?!

samantha

I spotted this stone today and immeadiately wanted to get it for my husband. The girl in the shop told me it was "Shell Jasper " ( which the net sometimes seems to refer to as marble Jasper ) but I can't find any info on what it is used for . I love the patterns / images I see on it .....you can easily get lost and find yourself daydreaming ! ( I can make out a Pagoda at one end ......this is very fitting as I just learn that the stone comes from China as does hubby !! )

I will try and add an image if I can work out how to do so !

Does anyone use this stone ? It feels quite gentle and relaxing , despite the bold patterning and colour scheme (white , grey , black .)

At first read, it sounds like what I know as picasso marble, or picasso jasper ~ actually a metamorphic limestone.

There's also a tradename zebra jasper, but the lines aren't delicate; more black & white. Fire Mountain Gems says this one is an onyx marble from Mexico though.

I think it is a relatively new "discovery", so there isn't a lot of metaphysical information about it yet. Perhaps you should look up the meanings/uses of Jasper in general.

The only thing I have found in my (very quick) search is this:

"Shell jasper is considered particularly calming and balancing. It is often used to soothe the nerves and is a very nurturing crystal."

BodhiSeed

Though it is called "jasper", I believe it is actually a type of marble. Here are some pictures:

Since it is composed of fossilized remains of shells, you might try looking under "fossils," or you could research "shells" or "marble."
And one more:

The above link states:
"This marbleized “jasper” is valued as a sacred and powerful stone that offers grounding and protection. It can help to invigorate and strengthen your physical, mental, and spiritual being."

Thanks for all your replies ! :)

It IS the one Cardlady and Bodhran gave links too . I think the sites describe it very well. It is incredibly smooth to the touch , and as they say , once you have it in your hand you don't want to put it down . I'm really in love with this stone ! I'll check out the other key words later : good idea .
