Hi again,

Now I do have a key card question....

I want the cards to help me select a business industry to focus on for when I submit applications for a (hopefully) life long career. I'm not sure if I should focus on a company that is mainly geared towards the finance industry, real estate industry, health care industry, etc.

will someone please help me select a key card? I want to use Sylvie Steinbach's (S.S) method. In S.S's book, Tower represents mid sized to large companies. However, I was told by someone that if I am trying to focus on a specific industry sector (and have no particular company in mind) that I should chose Fox as the key card. So I was just about to do a reading using the Fox as the key card but then someone told me that I should use Tower as the key card; fox is only for specific careers.

Now I'm confused. I don't know which key card to select. I need help selecting a company/business sector not with selecting a specific career. I already know what I want to do for a career. thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

I'd go through the deck and choose the card that seems the most in tune with what I want to ask. If it's housing industry, a house would seem logical, if it's medicine, I'd probably look at the tree, if it's financial, probably the fish...

I'd end up asking 4-5 different questions, like: 'If I chose the X industry, how will things be?' with the card in my hand to charge it right, then I'd insert the card into the deck and shuffle thinking of the same question until things felt right. Then, cut with the left, and figure out where the card is. I'd take two cards before and after and I'd go from there.

Let me know how it goes if you decide to go about it. :)

When you are wanting to know what business you would like to go in. You choose Fish as the business card, and the cards drawn before and after would give you the indication of what type of business that you would most enjoy or be successful at.

Thanks PR,

The above was helpful. Would the above information also work for an individual who needs help selecting a company business sector to focus on? When I asked this question, I wasn't concerned about long term stability or about finding a job that would be fun.

I was thinking short term and I just wanted a job that was decent (white collar and with benefits) and I wanted the Lenormand cards to help me land one as soon as possible by giving a focus as to which industry to target.

I knew what department/job function I would want to work in but I wasn't sure if I was better of focusing on a company whose main focus is the banking industry, pharma, etc.

Hi Olivia

If you are wanting to know the type of job and not a business (of your own) then you would use Fox. It will still show you what kind of field to go in. That's why there are specific key cards to use. If you start using different key cards, like house or other, then it would confuse you as a beginner, because you are not really knowing what you are looking for.

I would use one of the following key cards, depending on the exact question:

Industry sector (what): Fish
Company (where): Tower
Job/career (who): Fox

i.e. A certain type of fox works in a certain type of tower dealing with a certain type of fish. :)

Thanks PR and IHT....

I didn't even think of the Fish! After IHT's suggestion I looked up Fish (which I admit, I initially skipped because I thought Fish was for small businesses) and going by the examples given in the book, Fish does indeed seem like the perfect key card for my type of question. Thank you, IHT :-)

I was only echoing what PR said. :)

There is more than one way to get to your answer.

If you are self-employed, you could skip the Fox part and the Tower part and go straight to the Fish part.

For a small business, home business or boutique shop, the House might also work instead of the Tower.

sorry if you all basically said what I just said above but I just didn't understand...

I thought PR was saying to use the Fish if I already had a business industry in mind (which I dont). I thought you were telling me to use the Fish to help narrow down on an industry if I didn't have a company or any specific industry in mind at all (which is the case). If that was not what you meant, judging by the book examples, the Fish still looks good. I'll just use the Fish because it will point me to a business industry. That was all I wanted ;)

I knew I wanted an IT position because I have a degree in that field. I needed a key card so I could do a reading to help me figure out which business industry to target. I was not sure if I should look for an IT position within a corporation that specialized in pharma, finance, real estate, etc.

So I wasn't sure if the Fox was still needed since I was more focused on reading about the corporation's business sector as whole, rather than on a specific job for an individual. Again, my goal was just to use the cards to help me chose a company within an industry where I could find an IT job asap. Long term happiness wasn't a concern because I figured, if I didn't like the job, I'd just quit.

thanks for the help to everyone

I agree. :)

I'm late to the party but I thought I'd throw my two cents in. You know, for posterity. :D

Using Sylvie's method, I would typically read the Fox if I were looking for a job, or asking about a job.

One other idea that came to mind -- and I am mainly posting because I didn't see it suggested -- is that you could use the Stars if you're reading about an IT career. Stars is the card used for technology, and as such seemed like a good key card to my mind.
