View Full Version : Vampire Tarot
I think I may be a bit of a fanatic, but this is the deck I use. No picture links. Just looking for opinions from the few other people who have/use this deck. I for one really love the deck. I think my St. Petersburg deck is getting jealous. My only problem with my deck is that I perfer personal readings, and grow tired of doing my own. (None of the things I ask seem to turn out for the better, getting to the point where I'd rather not know.)(also, I don't get that strange feeling that I'm being Yoda, feeling of wisdom and power, when I do my own reading I just get all weak feeling like I'm gonna fall asleep. Reminder to self, start thread about strange weak feeling after self reading.) Let's just get opinions on the vampire tarot. Any info on that other stuff u can PM me.
frankly speaking, i considered the vampire tarot being in my wishlist but changed my mind. i love all that horror stuff (vampires included) but i see the vampire tarot extremely negative with all the darkness and blood around.
i believe properly balanced decks are better to read with.
peace!!!
Actually... I don't find it to be that negative at all. Once I actually used them I found that they aren't as negative as you would think. I don't know why, but it just isn't negative to me. I think it's cause it's easier to understand the vampiric veiw of life. Humanity is to complex. The vampires are instinctive. The need for blood can really compare to just about any human need/want. This is my reason that all the "good" cups cards are filled with blood. Once you understand the characters in the cards, they no longer seem so bad. Just misunderstood. Like Frankenstien's monster. Of coarse I have more sympathy for them because I am a collector of horror movies, and have found that in the most accurate vampire movies there is at least some point in time where the main vampire is reluctant or longs to be alive. If you watch the movie "Shadow of the Vampire" although it is a comedy, there are several serious scenes where you see how depressed the vampire truly is. The scene with the projector (there is a reel of a sunrise and the vampire wishes he could see one in reality) and the scene where he talks about the silverware (he talks about how embarassing it must have been for Count Dracula to have to atempt to set up silverware when he hadn't used it or seen it in use for hundreds of years). If you really look in to the deck you should at some point find that it's not just a deck of the macabre, but a deck of insight both through the cards and into the life of a vampire. Find a picture of the hermit and you'll know what I mean. It is a deck based on the most basic feelings, emotions, and instincts. It is also a very romantic deck in some points. Of coarse you can also see a very evil vampire if you look at the fool. Sorry to write so much over an opinion, but I just think that you may want to reconsider that opinion.

point well stated, as for me point well taken; i admit i hav'nt studied the cards in-depth.
Anyway, as a fellow tarot reader, i believe we interpret best with decks that truly have an impact on us regardless of artwork.
:smoker:
true dat. love the smiley. I guess I just find my self on an emotional level with the vampires and feel a need to defend them even though real vampires aren't really like that.

I just got this deck today and I love it! It's gorgeous! It is suiting me well. My Sacred Rose deck will get jealous...
edited to say...The Major Arcana is stunning and the courts wow!

I love the colours :D The Queen of Wands would make a wonderful Lady Macbeth, and the King of Swords is my favourite - cold and aloof (though his Queen looks a bit - pardon the pun - batty.;))

Wow, Demonesse, King of Swords WOW! So far and I am sure it will change (and change back, LOL) I am loving The High Priestess, The Chariot, and Hanged Man. I really need to get to know this deck, but I am so fascinated by the Majors, it's difficult to leave them right now to look at the Minors! I just LOVE this deck!!! I can't emphasize that enough!

i've never seen more than a few of the vampire's cards until i looked through the link you posted. the deck has turned me off in the past but now i'm feeling differently. must be your enthusiasm and good publicity for the deck. (you don't happen to be the deck's creator? ;) )i guess i have vampire interests b/c my favorite books tend to be about vampires and other "children of the night". now that i've seen the cards i'm very intrigued about this deck. the colors are brighter than i thought they would be. the images are inventive. you've put me in a dangerous mood when i'm feeling weak about buying new decks... })

tallarino: My favourite Major is the Hermit. The deck doesn't always capture RWS-type meanings well, sorry to say - but the Hermit, somehow, carries off the contemplative, quiet gloom perfectly.
Yeh, um... It's been a while since I've posted on the forum, but as an update....
I still use The Vampire Tarot and only The Vampire Tarot. I no longer use the book (I don't like the definitions in it anyways). Now I let the cards give me their messages through personal connections to the cards and through the symbolism I recognize on my own. I think I have formed a telepathic link to my cards... They know my thoughts and I can sometimes tell what they think of things before I actually do a reading (may have something to do with my other psychic influences...). I think that most psychiatrists would call my a skitzo, because I talk to my cards and they talk back. Also, I carry them everywhere. The cards see an extremly powerful future for me in prophecy. Maybe, I'm getting a bit of an ego, but I think I'm keeping it in check. I still don't charge for readings. (not much of a demand in high school other than my close friends) My only worry is that my deck says that I am going to be the most important prophet of my time. (for apocolyptic reasons) I think I'll start a thread about that. Anyways.... still my fav. deck. Worx reely well. And I'm reely good friends w/ The Sun. Sry if I got a bit off subject. It's been a while.

I love this deck too! All the cards are so evocative, and the detail in the minors is simply stunning; the themes running through the images on each suit give me an extra insight into the complexities of each card, and the suit as a whole.
I'm so glad you're getting on so well with it - I've never formed such a strong bond with one of my decks. They're all friends and we're close, but not to the extent that the two of you seem to have connected.

Personaly, I love dark gothic macabre stuff. I have no problems with such things. I've been looking around for a deck just like that, and I took a good look at The Vampire Tarot deck. Thanks for the link by the way! Well, I don't like it, I prefer The Gothic Tarot by Vargo, which I hope to get one day. I don't think people around me would have problems with me reading using this deck, I didn't get the love for dark stuff from the guy next door, and my friends are used to it. But I admit some people might have problems with it and it might proves to them that tarot is satanic or something. But then, I don't care about such people and their rigid opinions.

I have stated in other threads that this is my favorite deck. I think it is dark, but also sexy and fun. I like the minors ok, but it is the majors and the court cards that grab my attention. I like especially the King of cups, The emperor and the Magician. The Star is generally my favorite card in any deck amd I really do like the Star card in this deck. Blessings, wolfen

Ooooooohhhhhhh! More Vampire Tarot lovers  . I initially found this deck hard to work with then I just focused on the major arcana, the artwork is gorgeous and stimulating. I don't like the World card though. Nathalie Hertz has another lust after deck "Fantastical tarot". The world card is replaced with "The Universe". The card is stunning. I've considered taking that card and and slipping it into my Vampire deck.

I just ordered this deck from Barnes & Noble, and am eagerly awaiting their call that it is ready for me to pick up! I have been irresistably drawn to vampires since the age of six when I saw the 1931 version of Dracula on television. Now that I'm 22, the movie feels sort of dated to me, but since it made me fall in love with vampires I'll always have a soft spot for it. I have to admit that the sample cards posted on Aeclectic Tarot didn't really seize my interest, but I decided to take a chance, order it and hope for the best.
Well, once I saw the whole Vampire Tarot online I knew it was exactly "the one" deck for me that I've been looking for, and I'm so excited! I hope my Faeries Oracle doesn't feel like it's being replaced because I still love that one very dearly.

I own both the FO and The Vampire and your post gave me an idea - don't know if I will do it, but since the FO is not a sweetness and light deck...and since the VT is not at all mean-spirited IMO...
Wouldn't it be interesting to put the decks away in a cupboard or somewhere - together?? They would probably have all sorts of things to talk about.

I got my Vampire Tarot deck yesterday (YAY!), and even after having it for less than 24 hours, I know for sure that it was worth every penny. Right now it is actually sitting next to my Faeries Oracle in my bedroom, and I hope they ARE talking to each other...I've no doubt that they have plenty of things to say.

Happy Vampire Tarot Week for you!
As for Innana's idea, does US Games actually replace any single card for free? (does anybody know?)
if so - you might be able to actually figure a way to slip in the FT card and apply a matching blood red striped back..
G- let me know anything that results from your two deck's collaboration...I had so much trouble with the Art Nouveau that I wrapped it up with a deck that is especially aggressive and dark, but has excellant correspondences for a month and still had to trade off the deck.
There are so many FO cards that would seem to feel especially comfy with the FT or the "people" in the VT...
So glad you love it. I wish Hertz would come out with a new tarot deck...
BTW: Which card do you use for yourself, if you do that? I usually use the Q of S,
although as a Scorpio I should use Q of Cups.

People who love the Vampire deck should definitely check out Vargo's Gothic. I've got both and they both blow me away. I've never been particularly into Horror fiction, more the science and history behind the myths and how they relate to modern life.
Useless bit of information from the medic... The vampire myth is thought to have originated from the noble families of Eastern Europe (hence Dracula's Transylvania). Generations of inbreeding caused the manifestation of recessive genetic disorders such as haemophilia (inhibition of the body's natural blood clotting mechanisms) and porphyria (a form of anaemia, causing extreme sensitivity to light, very pale skin, tinted eyes and long curving nails). Treatments for such diseases often focused on the ingestion of blood and bodily organs, sometimes human. As this macabre lifestyle clashed with their orthodox religious beliefs and ostracised them from society, sufferers often developed psychiatric conditions, believing themselves to be cursed, and could not bear to see their reflection or see symbols of the faith which they felt they had slighted.
Ok, geek stuff over. xxx

A link provided by someone on the "Dark Decks" Thread sent me to Vargo's site and I want both the Fortune Telling Deck and the Gothic.
I got the impression shipping in US was included in the $15 price, but read a post somewhere lately on this deck and from same website that shipping was "almost as much as the deck"
Anyone who has bought it from the site??? I could do the $15 - but I get nit-picky over shipping charges.
PS- Good thing my birthday is in October, otherwise how could I justify buying all these decks?
I also love this deck! After searching for just the "right" deck, I was somehow drawn to this deck. The artwork, the detail, the significance, just calls to me. I find nothing negative about this deck at all, and I do not believe that the cards draw any energy into them, they are only a tool to help you unlock what is already in your subconsious, postivie or negative. It's all in how you read the cards.
I know if I go into a reading with negative feelings, I will usually get negative meanings from the cards, and vise versa for positive feelings. It's all about my mood at the time.
I do find it to be fairly accurate also.

One of the best parts of my birthday being on Halloween is that after I plot out any other Samhain stuff I want to do later, I can get our house all ready to scare the trick or treaters. Nothing as truly heartstopping as Umbrae described (our neighbors all have little kids, we might get burned out the next day)
This year I am dressing up as a gypst tarot reader and I will ask all the older kids (we got some adult ones last year!) to "Pick a card - any card" and I'm going to hold out the blood red Vampire tarot. In the purple and orange lights the Vampire Card they choose will be fun... and probably an apt one card reading!
Anyone in the San Luis Obispo area on Halloween, come on by for free candy and a one card reading with the Vampire Tarot! :joke:
lol, this is quite an old thread but we'll see if it still has life left...
I've just recieved the vampire tarot today, and I have to say, its much better than I thought. Everything looks soo wonderfully evil, I think I'll have fun with this deck :)
The archetype predictions, are quite unique, I especially like the fool, killing his victims with claws rather than biting them, representing a new opportinity.
Also, the artwork is to die for...
I agree. I love this deck! :)
I just really 'clicked' with it. That has never happened to me before, but I seem to really understand the meanings immediately (and I'm still very much a novice at tarot) o.O

that's a great deck i own a copy of that deck. i love the art work very well done. when i read with those cards i feel very peacefull.
well i must admit I LOVE THIS DECK it goes perfect with my darker side
Thank you for the information Dark_angel;that was very interesting.I went and looked at Vampire Tarot and didnīt like it at all.Vargoīs Gothic Deck is beautiful, but very dark.I would be wary of the vibes from such a deck as the Vampiresī or Gothic, especially if I got tired by reading from them.
Nevertheless;Gothic Tarot has itīs (very dark Ann-Rice-type)charm,and also reminds in style, not in darkness,of Madame EndorasīFortune Cards where Vargo made a few of the pictures.I hear it is coming as a full 78 card Tarot deck in 2006.Iīm looking forward to that one.
