View Full Version : Pendulums...Have a few questions.
Hi all,
I borrowed a friends pendulum and it seems to work for me. It answered yes and no questions, and I had my friend hide my ring, drew a diagram of the house and it was able to tell me what room it was in.
How does it work..I am a skeptic at times..I know it moved, but was it my energy and what I wanted to hear that made it move or is it all knowing like I was told..
I use the ouiji board at times and at least once am positive what it said was coming from my mind. Learned to take what it says with a grain of salt. Should I do the same with the pendulum.

I think you should take any type of divination with a little grain of salt. What if you're not interpreting it correctly and you change something major?
With that said, I can't use a pendulum. I can make it change at will. The only way I can get any type of semi-unbiased results is if I can't see what I'm divining. For example if I'm trying to choose between multiple things I write them on pieces of paper and fold them into same size squares, the ask.
I know a couple of people who are wonderful with the pendulum. So like with anything - go with what works for you. :)
I've had impressive experiences with pendulums, very much like what you discribed but I've also had them tell me complete cr*p. I think, in my case, the trick is to maintain a neutral mental attitude otherwise the pendulum seems to tell me what I want to hear.
Why do they work? Well, I've given that question a lot of thought...and it always give me a headache.
Hi cj,
I use pendulums for exercising NLP.
How does it work? I hold the pendulum real steady and empty the head for any thourght, then start to think loud " circle left" and the pendulum circles left within very few secs - the " stop" and it stops, then "circle right" or "make a straight line from 12 0 īclock till 6" and it acts on my thourghts almost instantly (have been doing this for several years).
The explanation for why it works according to my NLP books, is that the brain transmits tiny electrical impulses through the body and to the fingertips, leading the pendulum to do what itīs told to do.
I have also tried to work with it, to find things - I canīt do it. I search with my mind making the pendulum go around like crazy ;D
I think we all tend to choose what remedie opens our minds the best - some use pendulums, others runes, tarot, cards, oracles and so on.

O.K. - so now tell us what 'NLP' stands for.
NLP stands for "Neuro Linguistic Programming" - basicly itīs about how to program your mind/brain positively to be succesful.
Maybe I should start a thread on this issue ?
i only use pendulums to help me find stuff like the remote for the tv.
otherwise, i find that it lies!
but that's just my experience.

Sure, bec- start a thread - it could be interesting.
I always found I could control a pendulum at will, from when I was a little boy.

Tarotbear,
I can get it to say yes or no and do little circles for me..but what blows my mind is it thinks indipendently (or does it)..Like when we went through the US Games catalog and it picked out decks I would never have considered (it likes to shop, just like me...HEEHEE)
Besides, Some of us have always had IT..the rest of us (like me) are just learning...

Since the pendulum is as broke as I am .. we just window shopped...It likes the Gill and (I think, can't find the paper) the Vision Tarot. I checked out Gill and it's nice, Vision doesn't do anything for me.

i once had a pendulum and than i could work with it. a friend of me hide thing for me i really couldn't know where they we're but i found them. some time later i lost my pendulum and another don't work anymore i can't concentrate me anymore on it. i found that spitefully. maybe with times i could believe in it back
a friend af me her father does work with it and he can predict many things. he can predict the result of school at the end of the year for his doughter and it's always correct, strange don't you think.
i think it in the mind. you first have to believe in it or it don't work. things like health, schoolresults are 'nt to in the mind it's not what you want to hear what the pendulum says
if this could help?
with love rostie
I have two pendulums...and wouldn't mind having more. I learned to use it several years ago. The thing about a pendulum is that you will find that people either really love using them and find them helpful, or they don't.
Personally, I love mine. Many of those who don't believe pendulums can work state that they don't trust the pendulum because they can influence it. I can influence mine, too, when I want to. However, that's not really the point in using a pendulum. People can influence tarot readings in certain ways as well, but it doesn't mean that the tarot is a useless tool.
The key in using a pendulum is to be able to focus on the question and to clear your mind of any preconceived or desired answers. You must remain open and neutral. If someone is unable to do that, then the pendulum is certainly not a tool for them.
I have had the pendulum work many times for me. The times that it doesn't work is when I don't achive neutrality or when I ask it "dumb" questions or the same question over and over and over. Many of us have had our Tarot decks become unresponsive or go wacky on us when we abuse the readings, so this is not a foreign concept.
A pendulum is easy to use, rather inconspicuous, and very portable. I read a little booklet by Hanna Kroeger about the pendulum, and I believe it told why and how the pendulum works; however, I can't find it now. If it turns up, I'll check it. Unfortunately, I don't have good results looking for things with my pendulum. I generally ask whether a decision is in my best interest, whether an herb/vitamin/food/etc. is compatable with my body...stuff along that line. And I have quite good success that way. I use my pendulum for specific purposes. I don't ask who'll win a race, a sports game; I don't ask for lottery numbers; I don't ask anything that violates anyone's privacy. I was taught that the unethical use of the pendulum may or may not be accurate...besides, it's unethical.

jimilyn,
that was extremely well said.

I have just given the "pen" back to my friend..I asked it if it wanted to go home and it said "yes" (it even wanted it's new blue bag)...I think I am going crazy..I talked to a pendulum like it was a real person .. and the scarry part is it answered me...
I will be buying one and hopefully receiving one in a trade. I have a feeling they will be added to my..errrr...collection or things to collect.. I have seen some verry pretty ones lately.
The one thing I did and loved the "pen" for is to confirm what I read in the cards and then go back and ask specific questions (things I would not have known).
Thanks again everyone for listenening and advising..

In all modesty... Pendulums seem to love me. When I first started becoming interested in them, I had a little trouble figuring out the details, but once I got the basics, I've never met a pendulum that I didn't like -- or that didn't like me. Even the ones that have wanted to move on to new companions have been peaceful partings. What's even more interesting to me is that even new pendula, which I have never previously encountered, respond immediately to me. Even after they've moved on, they remain as responsive to their new owners.
Now, I may just be lucky, or a freak of nature, but either way I'm a big fan of them. They're better for yes/no questions, or matters of location and the like, than for deeply complex emotional issues. Tarot or other more interpretive tools are better in that respect. However, pendula (sorry, I know, I took too many years of Latin in high scool) when used for more direct questions, or even series of questions, can be very effective. They can, however, be susceptible to the wind and conscious control, which is something to be careful of. They also tend to have wills of their own, as noted bby cj. ^_^;
All THAT being said, has anyone else ever combined different methods of divination such as pendula and Tarot?

I love this topis because I love my pendulum :) now with mine Its ahome made deal. a simple ring on a string. I have programmed it and before I use it I ask it if I may ask it test questions. {Things that I know the answers to just to see if its working correctly}
I think my guides for speaking to me through my pendulum and will even ask if its my guide Jacob or my Guide Eliza.. some times it neither and thats okay.
usually I ask it yes or no questions but today Im going to ask it a few things with a chart I have. They can be such fun :)
all my tools are like my children.
I had a starter deck of tarot that even after i learned became my baby. No one is allowed to touch my tools and when I was gone one day a friend who new better ,played with it. After that it would give bad readings no matter what I did. I tried but I eventually had to put it to sleep { Its just as hard to kill an oracle as it is a fur baby when they are so ill}
well now its funny because when any one goes near my desk and I am not there or in the room when i enter they all go nuts. I get these wrid vibrations from my cards and rune stones. Then i will aks the person there " did you go near my desk"
they usually say no and i have to say " why are you lieing to me my oracles are telling me you were there" it floors them and they confess lol
gosh I love all my oracles they are just great

I have my pendulum on a special necklace. It has a tiny cross and a jade stone hanging on it.
The pendulum is tucked into my bra, close to my heart. I wanted it to pick up on my heartbeats.
Mine loves to talk. I found out tonight that if it is being adamant about something, its swings WILL get bigger. Surprised me too!
At night I keep it in a plain box with a quartz stone with it. I think it actually likes sharing the box with it.
I haven't used it to find anything. My tarot did, one time. So far, I haven't lost anything, knock on wood, (ow my head!)

I had never used a pendulum before. I picked up my plumb line, started using it as a pendulum, and immediately verified what Bec said. When I wished the pendulum to move clockwise, so it did, and when I wished it to move counter clockwise, so it did. And this without any thought of moving the pendulum by moving my hand. Weird! I did not know this was possible.
