They are semi tranlusent and a bit grayish.

I may be wrong, but I thought smoky quartz was more translucent.

Translucent,transparent... You can get some very clear smoky quartz, but you can also get some quite clouded bits, as in many crystals, I suppose... Otherwise, depending on the size, Apache Tears??? But I am going with the smoky!!!
