What crystals and/or stones are beneficial for a short temper? I had posted a thread a while back on this subject, but received no replies. :( Perhaps I didn't word my inquiry in the best way, so I am hoping for some insight this time around. What do you use?

i've read blue or purple stones may help...blue lace agates, amethysts, etc......

Howlite.

"Howlite is an aid to insomnia, especially when caused by an overactive mind. Formulates ambitions and aids in achieving them. Howlite strengthens memory and stimulates desire for knowledge. It teaches patience and helps to eliminate rage, pain and stress. Calms communication, facilitates awareness and encourages emotional expression."

Blue and purple stones.....hmm.....that sounds interesting. Soothing colors do make sense.

I never tried Howlite before. I actually don't have any. Maybe I'll get some.

I also haven't tried howlite but I will look for one. So far, what is helping a friend of mine is the amethyst. In my case, I often sleep with the Lapiz Lazuli and it calms me down.

If you are wearing a blue or purple stone for temper, does it follow that you must wear a balancing stone?

Today, I actually just pulled out from my jewelry box, a 3ct oval shaped amethyst pendant set in sterling silver. Maybe I should start wearing that more often. I don't know if I can sleep with amethyst under my pillow, though. I tried once a long time ago and it seemed to give me too many crazy marathon dreams. Maybe it was the amethyst stone, maybe not. The only way to see if it was is to give it another test try and see if it was the amethyst and if it works. Never tried putting lapis under my pillow. I do have a lapis ring and a small tumbled stone.

Come to think of it, I've started getting a lot of crazy but "realistic" marathon dreams.

For more than a week or two, after I read that amethysts are good for curing insomnia, I've placed it under my pillow. After that, I've been getting a lot of dreams which is odd since most of the time I usually have dreamless sleeps. Now, I've been getting weird dreams about my former classmates, my former boss, my mother-in-law... they're too reality based. Something I have never experienced dreaming before for successive nights.

Maybe it is the amethyst.... I've also been keeping a rose quartz heart under the pillow. I should figure out which of them is causing this.

Do we have anyone else having weird dreams with amethyst too?

I have read other posts here on other threads about the same effect with amethyst. I still wonder if wearing just a purple or blue stone along would cause things to be too much on the other side of the spectrum. If one wears a cooling color for temper, should you pair it with garnet or citrine or something warming. Does there always have to be a balance or some sort of combination?

Maybe you should just use a smaller crystal first. Like testing it out to see how much an effect a small crystal would have. I guess you would only need a balancing stone when you feel the blue crystal you're using is doing its job too effectively and it's already giving you an overdose.

I have not read that you need to "always" use a balancing stone to offset the effects of another. For certain instances when the effect is strong, they will only advice that you use for a short period of time. For another, like a rose quartz, they will advise you to use it with amethyst if you have too many amorous suitors to ward off :-)

That's what I meant by balancing, dicey, you worded it great: "too effectively" is what I was thinking.

As far as using a small crystal, when I first tried putting amethyst under my pillow for insomnia, I had been using a medium sized stone, perhaps a couple of inches in diameter - definitely larger than most tumbled stones, so that could have been it - too much amethyst. I'll see how I do with the small pendant. A small amethyst may be all I need.

I will look through some blue and purple stones and see what strikes me.

I have been thinking about Howlite, but it is a soft stone and I am afraid of how it will do in the workplace. I don't have any place to keep crystals or stones at work.

I would recommend the rose quartz highly. it is a huge stress relieving stone and just gives you a warm, peaceful feeling when you have it with you. it is a gentle, loving stone that helps one to feel calm and at peace. this stone can truly make one feel compassion towards others, and will help to heal emotional wounds and anger and frustrations. this stone is lovely to look at and a wonderful healing stone for anything emotional in my opinion.

Sodalite is another good stone to consider as well. This is a stone that will help you to also remain calm during troubling times. it helps one to verbalize their feelings properly and is also emotionally balancing. it is fantastic for anyone who experiences panic attacks. it is also a great stone for someone who suffers from insomnia and is good for high blood pressure, and throat issues--especially vocal cords.

Well, it's soft, but not so soft that you can't do some damage with it if it doesn't work and you DO lose your temper. THAT'S what I'd be looking for, a pretty stone that I can throw at someone, because I'm tired of breaking my cellphones.

Onyx or hematite would be my suggestion because they ground and repel negativity.

Will have to look into howlite.

I´m talking about pearls again..and they are not crystals..but..

My Indian friend always wears pearls and she said her Granny gave her lots as a gift and particularly to help even her fiery temper. She even sleeps with her pearl ring on her finger. She said it helps like nothing else. When she feels anger rising she just looks at the ring on her finger or feels the necklace and she feels calmer. It can be "just" psychological -but whatever it is, it works.

Pearls are just beautiful. The color alone is enough to relax a person.

Hey, I'm a firm believer that if it works, use it!

I've had good results wearing howlite and hematite at the same time. I had a very stressful day at work the other day and I was wearing blue lace agate and I felt very calm.

I basically had to stop wearing tigers eye at work because I noticed that when I wear it I feel very defensive and irritable, particularly while dealing with impatient and rude people. It was as if I had a difficult time letting things go like I usually do. But that's just me and my reaction to it.

Hi!

I dont know why.. but when reading your post I thought, hmmm I have no idea. But then Jade popped into my head and was just screaming, a jade bracelet. Maybe small round jade beads strung on a simple string. Nothing fancy.
I hope that helps some. Good luck!

i have a horrible temper. i'm snarky, mean, manipulative and bratish to the people closest to me. Chrysoprase is the crystal that has helped me the most. when i carry it with me i find it really difficult to get angry.

I have actually never owned any jade and have never used it. I'll check it out, thanks!

Amethyst helps me to keep my cool emotionally - I think. I have a small stone that is shaped just like the native american lifeline bear, and I carry it with me when I know things are going to be hard and I might get over emotional. I actually don't really believe in the powers of crystals, though --- but it has worked!

I bought these cute little crystal collar charms on Etsy for my dogs, especially my smallest one, who weighs 5 pounds and goes after dogs 40 times his size with the attitude that he can wipe up the town with their butts. The maker of the charms suggested howlite. Not sure if it worked, though, because right at the time I got it, the dog he always went after, the huge lab next door, got hit by a car.

Totaly agree with this: Rose Quartz would be great for you! Perhaps try some Chamoile tea as well? I dont know if anyone else does it, but when I get really angry, a tea that helps me is Mint tea...for some reason it is real soothing to me. THere is a verse somewhere in proverbs dealing with a temper...I cant think exactly where, but the gist of it is: 'He that ruleth his spirit is greater than he that ruleth a city...' or something like that. You might want to find this verse and write it down and then wear it like a textual amulet. Hope it helps.

Ok...it's proverbs 16:32
'He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.'

I do like rose quartz - it's nice but it's never been one of my super favs. I do have a nice polished rose quartz stone that I got a long time ago, and a nice crystal but that's it. I really like moonstone and ameythst and citrine: also tourmaline I love. I'll tally up all the votes here and see which ones I like best. Thank you!
