I am new to all things tarot.. and my search for information on how to read the cards that I bought (I was absolutely drawn to the artwork and couldn't resist) has brought me here.
I was raised a very strict, very conservative baptist, so the whole world of tarot, astrology, etc is very new to me.
A year ago, I could not have told you what my "sign" was.. let alone what a set of tarot cards was used for.
I have in the last year, found out that I was an Aries, among other things. I actually had to look it up, when a new co-worker asked me when my birthday was and remarked "Oh... you're an Aries. No wonder!" in a tone of voice that stated it was a really bad thing to be an Aries. I actually had to go and look it up, and what I have found seems to really nail most of my personality.
Anyway, I digress. I had heard a woman in the dr's office talking about the tarot reading that she'd had earlier that day to someone one her cell phone (I detest cell phone conversations in public places like dr's offices, bank lines, grocery store lines, etc) and I was curious enough to look it up.
I did what most people of my age group do.. I "googled" it! Curious as to what tarot cards actually looked like (I had a preconcieved notion of crudely drawn, "dark" images), I googled that too. I was surprised at the beauty and variety of the various decks.
The images that drew me the most were from Mr. Marchetti's "Legacy of the Divine Tarot" deck. The images just blew me away! Knowing nothing about interpreting the cards.. I felt myself relating to them. After a quick search of the local bookstores, I found a single deck at the local Books-a-Million store about 30 min. away.
I went to buy them immediately after work, and actually ended up getting both of the Marchetti decks that they had. So I now have the Gilded Tarot deck and the Legacy deck. I got the Gilded Deck, as part of the "Easy Tarot" kit.
I looked at a set they had with what is one of the more traditional decks, but it didn't speak to me like the Legacy deck so I went with the beginners set that had the deck by the same author/artist as the Legacy deck.
So, since I have purchased my decks of tarot cards, I've been attempting to learn what I can about spreads, how to read, different interpretations of the various cards, etc.
Anyway, I just wanted to say "Hi".. introduce myself and my complete and total "new-ness" with tarot... I will prob'ly have a lot of questions. I found this website/forum when I did a search for different spreads, so far I've been almost overwhelmed by the amount of information that I am attempting to process (on top of the insanity that is my job right now!
