Hi! I joined this forum at the suggestion of my friend, Robert Place, who is an internationally acclaimed tarot artist. I contacted Bob, after consulting my tarot deck, which told me to look for a job in communications. Well, what better communications, than communicating with the tarot deck that gave me the idea? I asked if he knew of any jobs for tarot readers, and he suggested to join the network here for ideas.

Around the same time, I started searching for employers, and wanted to test the waters (or wands) with a screen name, before going into things full-force. I had already established a fairly strong online identity as "Mama Fortuna", based on my work at Temple of Fortuna, which is actually how I got to know Bob Place, because he is a fan of the Goddess Fortuna. (a little Robert Place trivia :)

I wasn't sure I'd be any good at it, but I wanted to be sure the blessings of the Goddess Fortuna were with me, so I chose the name you see here at this forum. But, by the time I landed my first gig as a tarot reader, I was told my name needed to sound "real", and Fortuna just didn't sound like a real name. So, my call name became "Regina Fortunata", and I discovered ... surprise! ... I had a talent for reading over the phone, from a distance.

Which was such a blessing, I do have to thank the Goddess Fortuna for this, because She was definitely in the conversation loop.

Later, after I realized I could actually Do This (!!!), I brushed off the "Mama Fortuna" name, and started working under both names.

So, my forum name is really a hybrid, but glad to be here and meet with you, whatever form of my name you feel is most becoming!!

Have a great day!

Hi and welcome!

I met Bob Place at Readers' Studio a couple of years ago and had the good fortune to listening to him for an hour or so over pizza. I didn't have much to say but I loved listening, what a charming and interesting person.

I am sure that Solandia can sort your screen name out for you.

As you have subscribed (thanks!) you can discuss issues around networking and other concerns of pro readers in the Professional Forum, below.

Best, Alta

I think I'll leave the screen name alone for awhile, and keep people guessing.

And, yes, we all like Bob.

I like the Regina version. 'Mama', sounds kind of bossy, or maybe co-dependent. Anyway, a name like 'Mama' would make it awkward to engage you in conversation over Pizza.
("Yo, Mama...", rather than "Regina, what do you think about...")

I also like Fortuna, better than Fortunata.
"Fortuna", sounds pretty, rolling off the tongue, but "Fortunata", gives a little pause, with that extra syllable in it; anyway, remember that old example of poor marketing that happened to General Motors when the 'Chevy No va', was marketed in Mexico.

Saying "Fortunata", fast, kind of gives the same effect, IMHO:), especially since you are in California.

Anyway, I'll bet you feel that Fortuna smiled on you when you find all the interesting nooks and crannies, and wonderful people on AT.
Welcome!

Tullirose, that is so funny, I forgot about that completely. Reminds me when I was in Spain, years ago as a music student at the Royal Conservatory in Madrid...my Spanish teacher told me about "Flan sin nata", which is custard without whipped cream...a desert which sounded oddly like a jazz singer from the swing era.

Anyway, the name is changed, which makes me happy. Like it or not, you can find "Mama Fortuna" in the search engines, and it's actually me (most of the time :)
