I cannot find out anything about either of these decks. I emailed the eBay seller and they do not know who the artist of these decks is either, but they think the same artist did both decks.

I cannot even figure out the printing company.

See the photos in these auctions:

2. http://www.ebay.com/itm/220672817100

and I am also curious about this one. I think it might be the same as the Fournier TdM but cannot tell for certain with such a small picture.

Anything anyone might know about these is greatly appreciated!

What are your thoughts about it? Do you know the artist or production company?

What are your thoughts about it? Do you know the artist or production company?I'm sorry I can't be of more help tonight. I moved....uh...awhile ago, and so many decks are in boxes. I don't know where it is. There are others here that have that first one. It's very rich in colors and it's one of my fav TdM decks, but that's all I can say at this point. And the seller is good.

images.google.com is your friend. :-)

(1) If you go there and search on { tarot de marsella fournier } you'll discover that the third ebay listing is indeed what you think it is. For example:

http://www.consultacartas.com/baraja_marsella1.html

(2) If you click on the camera icon you can upload images to be searched on. The first and second listings are shown at this site, hope this may help?!

http://www.autenticotarot.com.ar/tarot.htm

p.s. translate.google.com is your friend, too.

I have this one and bought it from the same seller a few years ago. The cards are on thin but whippy cardstock which has held out well over time; my deck is still in excellent condition. (Having said that, I don't ever riffle shuffle which might make a difference). As a deck it is quite "bendy" and I am careful to store it flat but as I say, it is still in great condition. It is a warmly inviting deck that I like the look of very much.

Thanks everyone, this is very helpful. I'll have to search for more common images on other websites to see if I can find more information, but from what I can tell so far, these images look really interesting.

If anyone who has either of these decks know who the artist is, please let me know.
Cheers!

I don't have these decks, but they also did a round marseilles, and I have that one.

They came in wood boxes at one point, but I'm not sure if they still make that edition. I used to see them around all over the place here, but not lately.. just the normal cardboard ones.

The cardstock on my round one is quite thin, but sturdy. It's pretty glossy, and the edges have chipped a bit.. but I'm a riffle-shuffler and the edges are dark so that's pretty normal. The box is really nice, and it comes with a LWB that has fairly low production quality.

The wood box is stamped "Legitimo Tarot A-G" on the inside, and there's also a sticker saying the same on the outside, with the 'AG' in fancy calligraphy.
I think this is a publisher name, since googling brings up the same rectangular decks as my round one.. but not much other info.

Thanks Rasa,
I'll have too search around for that company and see what I can find.

Might these be the round ones you have?

To me they look a lot like the Fournier TdM with borders added. For those who have a copy: Do you think they could be the Fournier images that have been altered slightly to add the borders?

Ever since I was gifted this deck I was searching for details about this TdM, though I never found them. Seeing the images this link led to, I think I am now pretty sure about which TdM mine would be. Talking about the printing company, well there is this word "Babaji" printed on my deck...I think it "might" be a printing company, but I cannot say with surety. I am sure the folks here would know better. Other than garmonbozia, I too would love to have more information on this deck

I just chanced upon this thread here, and then the way you described your deck from the link of garmonbozia, I am sure, I have the same deck as well. Reasons being that my cards have the same characteristics that you have mentioned here - thin and bendy. Rather I would say they have even bent a bit. My deck is in a pretty good condition and I am trying to get used to it since the last few months, as I am one of those who came into Tarot via the RWS. By the way, I do shuffle my cards, but I am a bit careful while shuffling them...

No, not altered just by adding borders. It is based on the Fournier, but the backgrounds have been altered; it's as if the figures have been transposed onto wholly new backgrounds. There are other differences too - look at the sun in Le Soleil.

I attach scans of Le Soleil, Le Bateleur, Le Mat and 10 de Coupes.

thanks Wendy! It's nice to see some large photos of some of the cards.

i used to have this round one from Argentina. It looks [to me] like the same artwork.

Personally, in all honesty, i really didn't care for it very much;
It had quite thin cardstock, etc. i was a bit disappointed and traded it away to someone who loved it. To each his/her own. :) i don't think the round shape really lends itself well to Marseille.

The images that you have linked to are exactly the same as the one in my deck. As you say they are based on the Fournier. Now that is a new information for me. However as I said earlier the only word that I can decipher here is that of "Babaji" and "Made in Argentina"

Going back to one of our exchanges in the Newbie exchange, can I assume that this deck is the Noblet, since I know no specific name for this particular deck of mine.

No, the Noblet is this one: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/jean-noblet/

I always call the one we are talking about in this thread "the Argentinian TdM" simply because I have no idea what else to call it :D

I don't much care for its thinner cardstock, but I do like the images on the cards. They have a very warm feel about them.

i think i might have liked mine a bit better, if it would have been in a more traditional shape, rather than round. The thinness of the cardstock plus the roundness of it, made it feel very awkward and i found it difficult to enjoy shuffling it. i like the way your scans look much better than in the round deck i used to have, Wendy. i would be willing to give it another chance...
i had my round one a couple of years back...my tastes have changed quite a bit since then:P

Thank you for this added info.

Finally my Tarot whom I referred to as the "Babaji Tarot" (since I too was clueless about its name) has a new name...The Argentinian TdM  (until further specifics arrive)
