View Full Version : Tell me a story!

Ok with this thread it is fairly simple. We will follow the sitter's story to see one of the many options open to them (the most likely one for the present!) and tell it like a story.
Basically, we start with a very simple question and ask questions based on what card comes out. I only draw one card and explain it for the question.
You ask a question and I pull a card and tell you what I see.
You then think about what I've said and ask a question again based on what "future you" would do.
Basically what is required is feed back based on my interpretations and how you think they may apply to your situation (based on where we are in the reading - now or future)
Who is game to give it a go? I'd like to do one "story" at a time so as not to confuse me and others reading the thread.
It is a type of reading style I find works with people who have a complicated question and it normally takes somewhere between 4-8 cards to finish a story..
My preferred decks for this type of reading are : Universal Waite, Robin Wood, Deviant Moon or Robin Wood. And for those feeling a little more "out there" - Sacred Circle, Quest or Voyager. If no real preferences I may choose depending on what you ask.
<wide eyes> Love at first sight!
I would love to start this off! May I?
Edit: I should have thought about how tired I was before posting this! I would love to do this, but if you find someone who can do it before I can (probably 20-something hours, or so, from the time this post was edited, at the earliest), do it with them! I imagine it'd be easiest to do this with someone who could actually respond in a quick time frame, especially since you're doing this with a single person at a time.

I'd love to start this off (this being my official first day of Spring Break and all).
My question is how will I be able to pull off this whole 3 jobs and school business, that is if I get a chance at the third job?
Thanks! This seems like an awesome technique. Robin Wood if you don't mind.
EDIT: sorry Muji, just saw your post above mine. I'll kindly wait my turn! :)
Go ahead and go first, TinySpark! It'll be a little bit before I can do this, I won't have access to a computer (except mobile) for a while. I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out!
Kind regards,
Muji

I have pulled the 3 of Cups - during this time of spring break, others seem to be having a ball and partying (oh and working and studying but it's normally a time of taking a break, hence the term spring break!) However, with you and your busy schedule, you may miss out on all that. there are 3 girls in the picture, dancing together - you will manage to fit everything in but will you be able to rest? To take a break in between or is your dance card full? This is something to think about if you get the third job. Seeing as you are on the break now, I take the three to be your 3 jobs which means you probably will get the third job. It could also stand for work, study and social responsibilities - these are very important to you.
Shall we see how you are going to manage it?

Hmm, I see this is the present so, I need to focus on getting as much academics done ahead of time as I can, so that I can balance my (hopefully) three jobs and school and life. I see this card as a need for major balance in these three areas of my life as you do. I will have to make a decision.... one of my three jobs has to go. Will it be my design job or my teacher's assistant job, or possibly both. Especially if I get the full time job I am hoping for. I don't want my cups to be dangerously overfull, as I tend to get a mental headache from that sort of life. I should know I have lived it before!
So, unfortunately I think I will have to let go of my job working with a blind middle school teacher. It is extremely gratifying BUT there is so much drama at the school site. Since the Prinicipal is trying to get rid of my teacher. :(
p.s. I am not sure if this is enough storytelling. Let me know what kind of situations and scenes you would like me to include. I didn't want this to become a journal of my everyday life but I don't want it to be dull either! :)

No worries -
Well, to carry on with the story, let say you are thinking about giving up the middle school teachers' assistant job. What card comes next?
I have pulled the Wheel of Fortune - wow, it's a roller coaster ride but you need to find the balance - what comes also goes and what is a plus is balanced out by a negative. In this case you may need to change things in order to make things fit but as you climb to the top of the wheel to make your life work better, so are others affected by it (the people you are leaving). however it is also a card of karma. Saying that you have left this job and have moved on (the wheel has turned so to speak) shall we see what is in store for you next?

Yes, lets! I suppose if I leave my teacher's assistant job, I will keep it until the end of this school year, so sometime early July. That would mean I would have to have to lose my design job. And work a nine to five job AND a nights and weekend job AND take classes. hmm. I think I can see the negative side to this. No social life for the next few months. All work and no play make TinySpark a busy gal. Hopefully I will also make friends at my new job, so I can at least have some social interaction during lunches...
Unfortunately for my teacher, I think he will have some trouble finding someone new, but I would help him find someone at my community college, since that is where he found me. He has also been scrutinized by the school as of late, so that could be bad news for him. :(

The next card I have drawn is the Lovers - another major arcana card attributed to choices! Well, moving on from the assisitant teacher job to working several jobs, and studying and having no outside life, again you need to find balance but maybe you find a romance along the way. If not a romance then maybe a union of sorts? maybe the social aspect will come in to play if you continue on this path - there could be a blending of work with a social life with people at work!
Where shall we take this story next? Would you like to see if you are meeting someone or if it pans out to be an awesome friendship with a great new friend and work college?

Hmm, outlook looks good for my social life after all. With so many opportunities to meet someone my own age at a community college. I think that meeting new people would be much, much easier. I think I'd like to meet a new romantic interest. And with this new development, I think I'd be much more open to it. Part of finding a new romantic interest, is in the looking, me thinks.
A cute, young professor perhaps? Or an older (I am in my thirties) student who is looking to educate themselves. Or maybe even someone at the new job. The possibilities are exciting!

Well, the next card is the Queen of Cups - whoever they are they are deeply in touch with their emotional side - this could be one very deep relationship for you. Artistic, mysterious and a touch psychic? With your interest in tarot this could make for an interesting relationship.

Hmm, not the usual type of guy I date. That's probably a good thing! ;b
I probably will meet this guy at the record shop across the street, which I have been meaning to visit. Fighting over the last copy of Wild Flag's newest record. I'll let him have it. But perhaps he'll invite me over to listen to it sometime. Sounds like the beginning of a new friendship or more over great tunes!

Sometimes it's not what you expect - I met my current partner under unusual circumstances. I would never have dated him otherwise :)....
So far the reading has been very positive - 3 of Cups, Wheel of Fortune, The lovers and Queen of Cup - no real negative cards although they can have a dark side too. I think that even though you're going to be very busy integrating everything into your life that things will work out for the best. hopefully this new friendship/relationship will also help.
The next card is the king of Swords - strong, austere and scientifically minded. His character is intelligent and he is a law unto himself. This card could represent your being highly intelligent and finishing your studies and being a strongly independent person. You can plan ahead and work things out logically....maybe this is why you don't often go for the more emotional types?
This could mean that this new person could have a tempering affect on you.

Yes, amazingly positive. I hope this foretells of good things to come this late spring/early summer. I think a new friendship is just what I need to mix things up a bit. I love my old friends dearly, but some of them have moved away recently, and I feel the loss a bit keenly.

I agree. I tend to be fairly aloof, I guess you could say. The king of swords represents a lot to me, mentors in my academic life, and strangely enough when someone read for me I picked up the King of Swords from the Goddess Tarot I think it is called. She made me pick out another card to represent my feminine side afterwards after she took all the male counterparts out of the deck. She said my energy was very masculine! ;b But that I needed to work on my feminine side, and the next card I picked out was saraswati who corresponds to the High Priestess in that deck.
Ideally I think the King of Swords for me, is a part of myself that incorporates my scientific side with my somewhat unreliable hard work ethic side. Perhaps this new person in my life will be able to help me balance social/academic/work life better so that my work ethic improves in all areas of my life.
As I see the story progressing from new job, to new friend or lover to good fortune, I feel the King of Swords will help me gain perspective, working at my community college, I will have more access to my mentor who teaches there as well. I think the King of Swords represents the continued friendship and mentorship over lunches and dinners we have had in the past. He will probably give me excellent advice on how to keep a level head with all these wonderful and perhaps overwhelming changes that will be evident in my life with the job change. A welcome to the adult world of working a 9 to 5 job, instead of working 2-4 part time jobs that drained my energy and were unreliable.
Thank you for the marvelous reading. We can stop here if you like, as I think we have reached all the way to Fall Semester. This was quite the fun experience! :)

Not a problem Tinyspark, it was a pleasure to read for you :) It sounds like you're in for a fun but busy time. Your new Queen of Cups friend should compliment your King of Swords nicely. We should do it again sometime :)
Muji has PM'd me and won't be able to participate for a few days - is anyone else keen to try this out?
I'm so sorry to have taken so long! Without further avail...
Muji is a sad, sad single person with no hopeful outlook in regards to love outside of starting college later this year. I'd like to find out what it is I need in a partner - to balance me and fill the miscellaneous voids inside me each person has, and vice versa, what my future partner will need from me. What striking feature(s) will identify my "soulmate"? What kind of pronounced emotions will this partner evoke in me?
This is a subject I'm relatively (comparatively) well-versed in, so there should be ample opportunity for feedback. Trust your intuition, trust your wisdom. Use a deck you love and connect with - if nothing pops out to you, try Shadowscapes, as I know I connect well to that and wouldn't be surprised if you had an easier experience reading for me with a deck I am smitten with.

Well Muji - I am using the Shadowscapes Tarot for you so you can see the cards that come out for you.
I have shuffled, swirled and fanned the deck out and have picked a card out. The Six of Swords. This card depicts a person resting on a swans back and five black crows perched underneath on the hilts of five of the swords. I take this to mean you are moving away from a difficult time and your are on a journey hoping to find somewhere more at peace to be. this can be an internal journey as well as most that happens within also takes place around us.
You're not sure where the path will take you only that you need to be somewhere else away from the noise and somewhere where you can feel at peace.
Interesting. I think that I have a false idyllic perception of relationships, like they're meant to save me and take me away from where I am right now. I see that swan as a relationship - comforting me and taking me away from what is too scary or too much to deal with (the swords, the crows - the swords being myself, my mind?) This card always feels very dreamy and Neptunian to me. Relationships really do feel peaceful to me - like I'm able to escape everything that is my life and find solace in another person, even if just temporarily.
I'm curious to know what tarot thinks of this. Do I need to be more strong and independent in relationships?

The next card I've pulled is the Knight of Swords (reversed)
Would you say you can be a little bit pushy or not pushy enough?
He is focused on the sword and not on what is going on around him. Maybe developing awareness of what is going on around you could help make relationships work better.
Next time around lets try to see what happens when you embody some of this Knights more attractive traits - like making informed decisions, acting swiftly and decisively and not letting your emotions get the better of you.
Sometimes we are in a relationship just for the sake of being in one even though we know that the person we're with is not good for us. This Knight can help us to see the reality and act on it.
