How much do you influence the cards ?

I got some very bad news today regarding my new love interest. Same old story there is someone else also.... I di a 3 card reading regarding the relationship dynamic between X and Y to see how it's going..... I was expecting since I was so distraught at having seen their picture where they are having a good time that the cards would reflect that but they didn't. On the contrary it seemed like the relationship was going through a tough spot.

So my question would be how much do you influence the cards?
