Ok, I am really confused now. I just ordered a deck(blue box- ISBN: 3905219069) and to my surprise I received the pocket-size
version. The larger version has the same isbn #. Where can I order(with certainty) the larger non-icky-green version? I tried
looking for it on amazon and I am little confused about which deck is which.

Is there an alternative to the large Thoth(blue box)? Is a large version with the 3 magus cards? If so, what is the isbn #?

Any help would be appreciated.

Orpheus,

The large non icky green Thoth deck is published by AGMuller and the isbn number is 0880794690. It only has one Magus card.

I found mine in a little shop in the city.

but you can find them here

I love this deck. I have both the small deck with the 3 Magus cards and this one. The colors are beautiful and the size is great for picking up details.

good luck.

ahem...

i have the large, non-green Swiss printing (AG Muller), and it does have the three Mages.

i also have the pocket-sized Belgian printing... same clear colors, same three Mages.

Alobar,

what is the ISBN # of the large AGMuller deck(with 3 Magus cards)? I have one (0880794690) that has 1 Magus card.

oh damn, now i'll have to find the box! i bought it about 10 years ago though.
stay tuned...

okay...
it's the 1986 edition by AG Muller (Swiss printing), blue box, ISBN 3-905021-60-9.

personally i'm not that crazy about either of the Mage alternatives (although the one isn't too bad), but it's cool just to see more of Lady Harris' work. and the colors of the Swiss printing are much better, although some people can't tell the difference until they are viewed side by side.
the LWB isn't as good as the US Games edition, but who cares? i don't know many people who are interested in the Thoth deck that don't go out and buy a number of supporting books.

good luck, i hope you can get a copy. :)

I also wanted to get another large Thoth but wasn't sure of the ISBN numbers, it was slightly confusing. I have the large greenish version in the white box and didn't want to end up with another. :) Thanks for posting them. :)

I picked up a large version of the C-T in a UK bookstore today: 140 x 95mm, Grey borders, pale green box: IBSN 0-87728-452-0. The outer box says Weiser of ME "printed in Belgium" and looks like: http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/0913866156.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg except it doesn't have U.S. Games written under the image and carries the Weiser "Ankh" logo on the side. But, to cap it all, the celophane deck wrap carried a gold label AG Muller "made in Belgium" (www.tarotworld.com) and the Little White Book carries the U.S. Games logo.

Hey, I'm happy now, but perhaps it is just safer to buy them in person? :D

P.S. I probably shouldn't mention this, but I'm SURE I've seen a deck identically(?) packaged to the above, with distinctly greenish borders, but quite pleasant(!) card colours. Older stock, maybe? This does happen with U.S. imports over here... and, of course, the canonical 1:1 Dollar to Pound Sterling conversion rate. <grrrr> })

Macavity, thanks for the info.

Does your deck include the 3 magus cards?

Nope, just ONE (the standard) magus. I already have a smaller 110 x 70 mm blue-box AGM deck: IBSN 3-905-021-25-0 and this bigger one has the exactly the same (minute) defect marks (spots) in printing that suggest it comes from the same photo originals? The colour saturation of the bigger version is very very slightly greater than the smaller one, but viewed seperately the only discernable difference would be the size?

Macav.

I have this one (same ISBN) too - found it recently used in a local bookstore. Though the back of the blue box claims the extra two Mages are included, they weren't in the box I bought, though the O.T.O. and the Hex cards were. This is a beautiful and sturdy set of cards, perfect for studying the complex symbolism, but hard to handle for shuffling and cutting. I believe there's one of these at Barnes & Noble online if anyone wants to search.

Here's the guaranteed LARGE Swiss set available online from the U. S. Barnes & Noble site: http://makeashorterlink.com/?N20423456
I have the earliest edition of these and they're wonderful for studying the rich symbolism and gorgeous art work. But keep your smaller version for making spreads.

I just received a wonderful gift from DollieAnna,
the Large (green box) Thoth by Carta Muni :)
and the lwb has Urania & AGMuller on the back.

The colours are deep and vibrant, and the images
are all of a uniform size and printing quality too.

Since I can't sing my thanks from the rafters here
at Aeclectic (do we have rafters?) I'd like to add:

Thank You! DollieAnna!
