I've pre-ordered the deck and book set, and I'm really impatient for the decks to start shipping, I want it now! :)

I'm not usually into collage-type decks, but this one seems very well thought-out, the correspondences, in general, make a lot of sense, and some of the cards are simply stunning. Can't wait till it gets here!

I just ordered this deck.

I looked at each card online for what must have been a million times, decided I didn't like it, but it kept haunting me, and finally I looked at it one more time and decided I had to have it.

http://tarot.leila.ca/index.htm

Now I've promised myself that this will be the VERY LAST deck I will buy for many months.

Oh, dear -- in the pre-Internet days, we tarotholics were mercifully unaware of the full range of beautiful decks available. Now here's another one that I will have to have. (I tell myself that each deck costs only the equivalent of a quart of Haagen Dasz, which I can surely live without.)

Edited for a cost-of-living adjustment: make that two quarts (four, if you buy the accompanying books).

..... sometimes this site is sooo dangerous! .. everytime i think i've 'got enough for now' i see something else i want... !..

i have mixed feelings about decks that have actual people in them... but i really like the use of animals in the cards... and most of them really are nice... hmmm. we'll see how long i can hold out!

THANKS for the heads-up on this beautiful deck! I just ordered it and am looking forward to playing with it.

Unlike many, I _love_ photographic decks!

I'm also waiting for delivery of the Ferret Tarot.

Where do you get the Ferret Tarot from?

Asher

See the thread "Ferret Tarot Ready" (page 2). Ordering info is there. Very reasonable price, and includes a bag and a LWB!

And it's just so darn _cute_!

Ah so the deck is now published then ! This deck caught my attention when I saw it here at AT, but it was not ready for publication then. It looks lovely and I think it will only be a matter of time before I buy it.

Makes me wonder what "timeless truth" the deck creator is attempting to communicate to us. Does anyone know? It doesn't seem it would give us any insights that the RWS doesn't give us.

I just ordered it, too. Next week is my birthday, so the deck is my birthday present from me to me. :-)

Actually, this deck looks too interesting to pass up.

If you follow the link in Lee's post, it takes you straight to the deck's website. Leila explains exactly why she decided to name her deck Tarot of Timeless Truth in the artist's profile section. I wasn't sure about this deck at first (like dolphinprincess, I don't usually go for decks with actual people in them), but one of the things that really impressed me is how Leila not only put up scans of each card, she also wrote a descriptive narrative for each one. So in terms of insight and getting into the artist's head, she made it exceptionally easy.

There are a few cards I would change, because of course no deck will ever be completely perfect for me (unless I create it, and maybe not even then) but after reading each card's little narrative, I found myself agreeing with almost everything she wrote. So, if I'm already in sync with Leila's mindset, then I have a very good feeling about the deck. Plus, the cards are so evocotive, and the Princess of Cups and the Aces are just gorgeous!

What strikes me as ironic about this deck is that a deck featuring photos of real people has "timeless" in its name...! I'm sure the author has good reasons for the name (I haven't seen her website yet), but it just struck me as amusing.

I'm not really one for decks with real people. But, I think that the moon card is very cool--drawing on the Maiden, Mother, and Crone concept.

Has anyone else pre-ordered this deck? It was supposed to have shipped by now but there were some printing problems and the release date had to be pushed back a few weeks. I am so looking forward to getting it! What's great about her site is that if you click on each card, it brings up a large, very high-resolution scan of the card, so you can really see the details.

I also bought and have been using her set of scans for use with the Orphalese software. It does seem to work very well, but I still need to look at the cards in person to know whether it will take its place in my top three reading decks.

Nice deck.. But does not do it for me. I am not to fond of these Computer Generated Decks. Give me old fashion art any day.

I am not normally fond of computer done decks either but I do love the majors for this deck and hey it has dolphins in it so it is on my wish list. Now if Santa just thinks I have been a good girl this year I will have it made! lol

I've ordered it too and I'm impatient for it to arrive.

I'm aware there were some setbacks concerning the printing but it seems things are on wheels now.

I'm curious about something: What size are the cards? I searched Leila's site for this information but didn't manage to find it. Will they be the same size or approximate as when you click the card and a big card shows?

The descriptions which acompany the cards on the website they are so well written!

I, too, don't like at first sight decks with real people on it. Nevertheless this one is gorgeous and so rich in its elements. I love the associations between the major arcana with semi-precious stones, as I am myself a collector and appreciator of semi-precious stones.

They just sent me an e-mail stating the desk will ship on Wednesday Dec. 17. I hope it gets here by Christmas!

Usually I prefer decks that are drawn or painted, not photographic. But there was something about this one I liked.

I almost bought this deck, but two cards stopped me...I didn't care for the 10 cups and the 4 wands...I'm anxious to hear all of your comments after you have had time to use this deck for a while...maybe then you can give me some insight on my concern and I may be convinced to overcome my issue with these cards...I don't have issues with photographs or computer generated so those things didn't bother me with the deck at all...I thought in general, it is a very beautiful deck.

I have to have the deck! Most of the cards seem to be gorgous and I love the fact that there are so many animals in it. A deck with lots of animals just cannot be wrong for me. But can anyone tell me if I can order it from a European store too or just from the artist's site? So far I haven't found anything about this deck at amazon or alida.

I ordered the set... :o) I am not usually a fan of real people in decks.. but these cards were an exception. What really sold me (as mentioned above by Darla).. were the animals. The deck is full of animals (especially dolphins).. and that really spoke to me.. .Looking forward to seeing the cards in person.

It isn't a difficulty with minors so to speak...but the 10 of cups makes me feel like I'm looking into someone's personal family photo album...to personal for me, I didn't feel comfortable with it... and the 4 of wands, I just don't seem to get the feeling that it represents what the 4 of wands is suppose to say...if it was only the 4 of wands, I could have overlooked that, but the 10 of cups seemed just a little too personal to me...but it is only my opinion, and i'm not trying to minimize everyone else's attraction to this deck...

Like I *needed* someplace besides Ebay to fuel my addiction!
You guys just....rock. :c)

OK, well. Yes, I've been on the forum five whole minutes (I originally signed up in 2001, but took a hiatus until *ONE* of you who shall remain unnamed lured me back into the fold) and have already bought this deck/book set. Please send your addresses, so I can have the bill sent to the appropriate people (well, it *is* your fault! Take some responsibility here). <g>

I like all types of decks..photographic, collage, line drawings. Bottom line is, I've never found a single deck which had 78 cards I loved. Unless it's Your Baby, there's going to be some cards that just don't work for you. My experience has been that it's never the same cards, either! Go figure.

This is the first time I've seen or heard of this deck, and it is tempting me very much! I also always order the book when possible, because I just like books, and it just feels more complete to have a set, and it helps to hear the authors take on the cards. Sigh! I just ordered 6 decks a few weeks ago and just recieved them. Why do you do this to me?!!

Don't hold your breath for this one, friends...I just got an email from the creator, saying that shipping from Canada to the USA (Southwest) is estimated at 4-6 _weeks_!! Apparently the decks were due to be shipped yesterday, but I could drive to Canada and buy it in less time.

Oh well...

Asher

Asher,
I think you SHOULD drive to Canada, and while you are there pick up a tarot set for each one of us. :joke: . Truthfully, ordering from anywhere outside of the US makes me very nervous.

Cocobird55
18-12-2003, 23:00
I got the same e-mail. I'm still looking forward to getting the deck. :-)

Since joining Aeclectic, I've ordered a couple of things from outside the U.S., and it hasn't been a problem at all. The Tarot of Prague and Major Tom's 2004 tarot calendar both arrived without a hitch.

I also have had great success with ordering decks and things from outside the US. Tarot of Prague, for example, and several orders from Alida (_1 week_ from Italy to the US!)

Also from Amazon.uk and Amazon.fr (haven't gotten the courage to try Amazon.de yet -- German intimidates me!)

I too am looking forward to this deck, but I wish we had been forewarned about the "pony express" shipping...sigh.

I'm glad to have seen all the cards.

The use of family and friends for models must have been an ambitious project. I got the impression of Vision Tarot plus Sacred Circle combined with a lovely family tarot theatre. Everyone seems to be very into the spirit of the scene. It is a charming idea and her personal statement--what she views as timeless. I bet her family and friends who posed for the photos have been delighted, as well. Some of the elfish, bearded and bewigged children are delightful. I guess I got distracted that some of the same adult models appeared in different cards--photographs of people can do that do that to me.

I think in the same way people can get distracted by anime illustrations that seems to much the same to them or the hair and eye colors do not agree with their concepts of what works for them.
I am glad you posted the link so I could see why I didn't want this beautiful deck. It's a different perspective than mine.

Since a year or two ago, I've been less interested in modern photomontage and glossy modern shades. I like historical cities and images, oddly, they seem more timeless and neutral to me. When I see photomontage of 100 to 600 year old European paintings, it seems ageless in my eyes. The small details of the artist painting or image meaning that I discover seem to be my own treasure to be taken and appreciated.

I'm looking at why I really liked my photomontage Lovers Tarot, Prague and Tarot de Paris--what makes them different to me.

Best wishes,

Mari H.

I got it!!! :D:D:D

The deck is printed on good cardstock, and the coating on the cards is very nice. The cutting of the card edges isn't quite as smooth and perfect as USGames or Llewellyn decks.

I'm happy to report that, although the cards look quite nice online, they look much better in person. There's lots of little details that you just can't see online. The deck comes in a box (no shrinkwrap around the cards) with an 8-1/2 by 11 sheet with short meanings and instructions for downloading the ebook, if you bought the special offer which included the ebook.

The ebook is 251 pages long! However, unfortunately it doesn't fit on a 3-1/2" floppy disk, so I can't archive it, and I'm reluctant to print out 251 pages, and it makes me nervous that it's sitting on my hard drive with no backup.

I'll look forward to working with the deck and reading the book.

-- Lee

Edited to add: there is a slight problem with paper dust which got on the cards before the coating was put on, so that the white dust can't be wiped off. I noticed the same problem as well on the self-published Healing Tarot.

Hooray! Hopefully, mine will come soon. :-)

I work at home sometimes, and use the following process to make backups of large files.

I e-mail them to myself at work. Then I don't erase the sent document until I have backed it up to my hard drive and the LAN at work.

You can keep the file in your sent mail indefinitely. Or, if you have another e-mail address, like Yahoo (which is free and easy to get), sent it to that e-mail address and keep it there. Or do both. I'm fanatical about backing things up, and my Mac didn't come with a floppy drive, so I use this process quite often.

Mine came today! It is a lovely deck. The cards are quite thick.

It reminds me a little of the Mountain Dream deck, because both decks have real people dressed in costumes. The book seems quite good, too. It is spiral-bound.

I got my deck last night, and have just sat down with it this morning and did a 3 card spread: 1. What will this deck teach me?, 2. What does this deck require of me, and 3. What will our relationship be like? It's certainly the most firey response I've gotten from a deck- I think I'm going to like using it!:

1. Six of Wands
2. Magician
3. Queen of Wands (who is beckoning with her hand in a "come on, let's go!" manner. I find her enthusiasm contagious:-)

I have been using the Tarot of Timeless Truth with my Orphalese Tarot software for a while now, and I have always loved the Majors. But I was never very hip on the Minors. I have never really cared for decks that use photographs of real people.

But when my deck came in the mail (after brushing the dust off each and every card!), I held it in my hands and looked through every card and bonded right away. And surprising, I like the Minors even more than the Majors! Maybe it was because I wasn't too excited about the minors so I wasn't expecting much... or maybe it was because this deck is so much more wonderful and vibrant in person, but I absolutely love this deck!!

I recently treated myself to the Gilded Tarot for Christmas, and no doubt this deck is absolutely stunning and worth every penny, there is just something about Timeless Truth that makes me want to hold it, shuffle it, use it, bond with it....

I know all I'm giving you is my personal opinion, but I am certainly NOT disappointed with my new deck!!! :)

Blessings,
Karen

My copy arrived today (4-6 weeks -- bah!), along with a package from Alida...but I digress.

I do like this deck, having only glanced at it briefly to make sure all the cards were there.

I had very little "dusting" to do...whew!

It does look so much better in person than the scans on the site. My only wish is that the deck were a bit bigger, so these old eyes could see all the beautiful detail without too much squinting...smile.

Off to play with my new decks all afternoon! Who could ask for more? :D

Asher

Added: I just downloaded the ebook and am printing it out. The introductory information is nothing new, but I do like the section of the Majors that I am reading now. Instead of simply telling the reader what each card means (there is some of that), the author has a couple of sections which invite the reader to think about certain aspects of each card--colors, specifix images, card borders, etc., in order to help the _reader_ determine what the card means. It's almost like a workbook in format.

oh, i just can't make up my mind about this deck.... ! i ordered it bc i loved the use of animals in the deck.. and i still do.. there are so many cool pictures of different animals used..

but i am just not fond of real people in decks. i though i could get past that with this one (after looking at the scans on her site half a zillion times...)... but now that i have the deck, i'm just not sure.

it feels like i'm looking at someone's family in the deck - which in fact is what i am doing... which makes it a bit difficult to bond to the cards... bc i have no 'relationship' with these people.. yet they are 'real'.. not sure if that makes sense.

the book is excellent.. but the jury is still out on the cards for me.

why does there always have to be SOMETHING that makes a deck not perfect... ?????

So, how is everyone enjoying their new deck?

Is it what you really wanted, and waited for ? I may decide to order it afterall, because they are shipping it via insured mail, I heard.

If you own the Sacred Circle Tarot would you say that this one ( TTT ) is more user friendly ?

Any other comments will be appreciated.

Happy Readings everyone.

Hi,

Yes, I plan on purchasing the deck and book set ASAP. I absolutely LOVE decks like this! I think it is beautiful but it's going to have to wait until next month when my tarot budget will allow me to purchase the next line of cards on my wish list. :-(

Joy to you,

Feebie,

I've been using this deck for my daily draws this month, and the more I use it, the more I love it! I have never been too hip on actual peoples' photographs in tarot decks, but somehow this one works for me.

And I think the book is excellent! True, I have it on computer, but you can print it out if you choose, if reading on the computer bothers your eyes, or is inconvenient.

If you have thought about purchasing this deck at all, I highly recommend it!

I really can't compare it to the Sacred Circle. The SC has reordered its Majors, and the Minors are basically pips. The Tarot of Timeless Truth follows much more closely to the RWS standard and can be read right out of the box, if you're familiar with the RWS.

Let me know what you think when you get it!! ;)

Blessings,
Karen

I've just ordered the Tarot of Timeless Truth. After visiting Leila Vey's homepage, I was hooked.

Like many of you have also said, I'm not usually a fan of photographic decks or ones that have images of real people. I do like the animal correspondences, and for me they often make a deck much easier to read.

These cards seem very Special, however, and after listening to each one 'speak' courtesy of the authors beautiful writings, they are now on their way, book and deck set....

I enjoyed reading all of your impressions of the deck..Thanx..:-)

Hmm i like this deck, every time i look at it i like it more! but i'm still not sure as like many i'm unsure on photo decks.
Next month when i've got more money i'm getting the Sacred Circle, which i've been wanting for awhile now. If i can get along with the photos in that, then i might purchase it.
Another worry is buying it straight from the artist, as i dont have a mastercard etc of my own (because i cant trust myself!) i'd have to buy it on my mums, and well, i dont want my mum's first purchase online to be a rough ride! I might wait till it because available by a European company, or amazon.co.uk.
Ahh the worries of a British girlie lol

My Tarot of Timeless Truth arrived yesterday. I was getting a bit desperate as I thought it had been lost. It just took a big longer to arrive - about 8 weeks.

This deck is my current favorite. I love the pictures, and even more, I love the book.

The book has questions for you to think about, and other questions to see how you interpret the deck. The book then explains what the symbols mean to the creator. It is totally cool. I'm going through it card by card, and liking it better and better.

The set has become my favorite. I like the deck a lot, but it's the book that stands out for me. I feel like it makes the tarot so more accessible, and I can easily apply some of the ideas to my own life.

I have just ordered this deck/book set, after taking a long leisurely ride through Leila's site, and others on the internet.

Although some people may compare it with SC tarot, I think this one stands better for me since it follows closely with RWS standard, which was one of my concerns with SC tarot.

I would like to know what everyone still thinks of this deck after they have been using it for a while. Does anyone use it as their main reading deck?

I've been using it as my main deck for a couple of months. I am learning a lot, and getting good information from the deck. Definitely one of my favorites.

The books is good, too. It's written in a way that makes sense to me. It makes me think about what the cards mean, before I look at the actual description.

Let us know how you like it.

It's also my my main deck since I acquired it. The images are so expressive and rich in details and I think that my intuition has been developing since I started to use it. I get a lot of information by just looking at the pictures. Believe me: readings for me and for other peolpe come out right, i.e. make sense. The feedback I get after readings done with this deck is very positive.

As for the book I also love it. It is so well written, I guess the author Leila Vey has a natural talent with words.

It's a great deck: one of the most expressive and intuitive decks to work with. :)

This deck has been on my wish list for some time. Last week I revisited the site to have another look at it and did an online reading. This reading made so much sense to me and just LOOKED so clear, that it made me very eager.
As I live in Europe and don't want to spend a fortune on shipping, I will have to order soon if I want to get the deck before I go on holiday.

So I read through this whole thread, and am now really convinced again I need this deck, and the book too !

Wolfspirit, I also live in Europe and I found that the shipping was relatively cheap. My currency is the euro and the Canadian dollars when converted to euros benefited me. Of course I chose the surface mail, because the other one is much more expensive.

As for the deck and the book, I just love them. The deck is my main reading deck. It is so insightful. Many times I am so astonished by its clear messages.

Hope you decide yourself soon: the deck took eight weeks to arrive (surface mail).

I agree, lightbringer: shipping is not that expensive and it is insured as well. I find the deck relatively cheap as well, it is the Canadian $ that makes it look like more - it is not too bad when you convert to euros.

I went to the post office and there they were! I had them in 6 days! The cards are gorgeous! You can feel the magic of the cards. The Empress card is dazzling. The Aces clearly show the suits' elements. The traditional symbols are maintained. An interesting card ins "Hanged One"--it is a fetus. The beautiful backgrounds enhance the meanings of the cards. I just sat studying the sequences before doing my first shuffle. I did my first spread. My question was a usual question that I ask when spreading a new deck. This question helps to create the kinship between the cards and me. The cards began to connect. The collage of images gleam with their communication. The cards appeal to the intuition without effort. I can easily see these becoming a valuable part of my collection.--Tao

Greetings everyone,
I was just wondering how everyone was finding their Timeless Truth decks? Are they still on the top of your tarot pile? Or did something else cross your path since then?
I only ask as I came across the creator's site the other day and remember the hype about the deck, bit similiar to the Druidcraft at the mo ;)

Blessings,

I find the majors still very beautiful. And I love the court cards - I love it that they all have a totem animal by their side.

But I have a problem with a few of the minors. It is a photographic deck with real people, and I find in some of the cards it is as if the people are just trying to act too hard, it is like watching amateur theatre. Paintings of these cards just look more subtle somehow.
So - although I have nothing against photographic decks in general, this is for me one of its drawbacks.
In general I still love this deck though. It is also a deck without nudity, which can be an advantage when reading for some people.

I think this is an attractive deck, but I can't seem to use it to read, it just doesn't click with me. The Druidcraft, on the other hand, is also a beautiful deck, and I have done several readings with it. It feels comfortable to me and is now my deck of choice (along with The Lover's Tarot for some relationship readings).

Deck's are such personal things ... not every deck will appeal to everyone.
I have other decks with art work that I think it more beautiful, but they don't work for me nearly as well.

This is the first (and only) deck I am able to read from without even looking at the book. Clearly, the deck and I are on the same cosmic
wavelength. -:)

This deck is such a mixed bag to me! I think the only reason it is still in my collection is that the cards in the deck that work for me REALLY work. For instance, generally, I find I like the artist's interpretation of the Aces. (I also like the Tarot of Timeless Truth book.)

Aces notwithstanding, I think I would have liked (or maybe I should say used?) this deck more if it had been limited to a Majors only deck. Of the Majors, a few of my favorites include The Moon, The Hanged One, The Sun and The Death card.

I truly love most, if not all, of Leila Vey's ideas. It is her execution of the fine and insightful ideas she brings to the deck's photo collages that fall short in my eyes. Without belaboring the point, those already mentioned beards are an example of what I mean!

Despite the conceptual promise of this deck, it's shortcomings are such that I have not been able to read with the deck. I really hope that if the Tarot of Timeless Truth is ever reprinted, Ms Vey is able to fine tune some of the deck's images first.

I don't have the deck yet but I have been having an eye on it ever since it came out. It's just very costly to have it shipped from Canada to Europe. My sister wanted to give it to me as a gift last Christmas but she said it was too expensive. But I want to have it someday. Does anyone have experiences with shipment of this deck from Canada to Europe? How long does it take?

I can see what people mean by things like fake beards or overacting. I saw this online already but decided that for me the good stuff overweighs the bad stuff. I love the take on many of the cards, the many animals and the texts that are presented alongside each card on her website. Overall, I think despite its flaws this deck would work really well for me. I certainly learned one thing soon after joining aeclectic, there is no perfect tarot deck! :)

WolfSpirit
19-07-2005, 06:27
Darla I am in the Netherlands and it took about four long weeks before I could hold the deck in my hands.
I think there must be faster shipping options but the website did not offer them. I can't remember how much it cost; I thought it was not too expensive. I think the website is in Canadian dollars which is less than the American dollar.

This was my experience, but it was a year ago; maybe she has changed shipping options and it is now more expensive but faster.

Hi! I live in Portugal and I bought this deck last year in February. It took about 8 weeks to arrive. The estimated time was 2 to 4 weeks but there seemed to be a delay. I thought it wasn't too expensive if compared with the prices practised in Portugal concerning tarot decks.
All the best!

I just ran across this thread tonight and decided to add a message even though it is an old thread.

I received my Tarot of Timeless Truth a couple of weeks ago - ordered it after having a wonderful, free on-line reading with it that came true! I fell in love with the look of the cards, they really spoke to me even though some of them are funny with the fake beards and things.

Anyway, it has become my favorite deck! The readings are so insightful and poignant and true. The book is wonderful, some of the best explanations of the cards I've ever read.

It is such an easy to read deck, so down to earth yet so mystical in the way it seems to know exactly what is going on in my life. If I had to chose only one deck from my collection this would be the one.

Thanks for reviving this thread Sammie it made me pick up the Timeless Truth again and it looks like it was just what I needed today :)
It is not my main reading deck but it is always waiting patiently in my tarot chest until the inevitable moment comes I want to use it again. Although not artistically perfect, I ver much love the overall feeling of the deck, and especially the animals on the court cards.
I also decided to get it after doing an on-line reading with this deck.

Arania
18-11-2006, 16:13
I get around it by ignoring it.

For almost all decks, the cards adapt to me and vice versa. Eventually, I may be able to incorporate all the symbology, or make up my own interpretation.

Cocobird55

Lhundrup Leila Vey has written a book to go with the deck. I think it is quite well written and well worth it, although it takes a while to get to Europe from Canada.
I think the Tarot of Timeless Truth in general follows the Rider-Waite a lot, a deck many people are familiar with - but if you are used to reading with playing cards,it will be quite a change for you.

I recently got this and I don't have a problem with the deck (haven't even had time to use it yet; although my first impression was the cards look much better larger, as they appear on the web site), but I was disappointed by the state in which it arrived. I don't believe it was new. Either that or it was not compiled for packaging in a professional way.

I'm not convinced all the "dust" is from cardstock. There was a spot of coffee or some other beverage I had to spit-shine off two cards. There was a strand of hair in the midst of them. There was also a strand of cat or dog hair in the midst of them. (I'm leaning towards dog hair.) The box was not shrink wrapped but had scotch tape on either end. I appreciate the effort to keep the box closed during shipping, but I think it should have been placed in a bag or wrapped in something else first. Fortunately, I was able to remove the tape with no damage or residue remaining on the box.

Just disappointing over all. Aside from the above, the cards do look new, if that makes any sense. Perhaps someone else had returned it, but I got the feeling it was a copy that had been lying around someone's office (out of its box, obviously) for a while.

I'm trying not to let it cloud my liking for the deck itself. I've really been looking forward to getting it and especially to perusing the book. I love her site and agree with her interpretations (the ones I've read, which is most of them) as posted there.

I agree!

Though I no longer own the deck, my Tarot of Timeless Truth arrived in pristine condition. It was packed well and clearly brand, spanking new, though, if memory serves, the box may very well have been taped on its ends. I think you may be on to something in thinking your deck could have been sold, returned, and then resold to you.

One thing is for sure, new decks ought to arrive in better shape than what yours did!

Why don't you try emailing the artist and ask her about it?

Mainly because due to the shipping time and the expense (and the fact that I like the deck and it's in good shape aside from what I mentioned), I'm not going to return it or demand a new one. It's usable. It's not completely ragged, you know? lol Just in need of serious dusting - and cleaning in the case of those two cards. And the packaging annoyed and disappointed me.

It arrived though. I can and will use it. The book is fine and looks new. I don't imagine any partial refund or anything would even be given. There just really isn't anything for her to do about it now.

Also, I think people generally know what they are doing the first time around and complaining after the fact doesn't really accomplish anything. (For example, taping the box seems to be their standard?)

If I wanted a replacement or a refund or part of it was missing, etc., I would email in a heartbeat. Or if it came from a local store, I may have gone back for a replacement. Just seems better to let other potential buyers know...

I dunno. Maybe I should. If it were a restaurant though, I just wouldn't go back. Wouldn't bother with complaining. Hopefully, that makes sense.

Also, I've been dealing with a more serious offense this week that's been taking most of my attention. Lots of complaining there and calling around. lol In the grand scheme of things, the state of this deck seems kind of not worth the effort... I'm thoroughly tired of confronting people and complaining for at least the next few days. Maybe next week I will though if it's still bugging me.

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad it's not a common problem.

Well, I'm very glad to say I'm enjoying the book so far. I love that it's soft and spiral bound with a plastic spiral instead of metal. Also, smiling at the content so far. :) Even better than the web site.

The Empress card is so beautiful and so well thought out in terms of symbols. Can't help but wish they were all bigger just so you could enjoy the artwork better, but then it would be hard to shuffle the deck.

I'm very relieved to begin enjoying this without so many associated cranky thoughts.
