Since we have a thread for decks you already have....what decks are on your wishlist? This thread is to *help* you organise your most recent cravings...it just gets worse doesn’t it? :D

When you update your wishlist, just update your original post (you can also add a note stating the date you’ve updated) – again, you don’t need to add a separate post stating you’ve updated or repost your whole list. Separate posts for commentary is all right here, but please try and keep the thread on track and do remember people need to access their wishlists if the thread gets long too. If you want opinions on a particular deck, please post a new thread or look at the sticky entitled ‘Table of Contents & Search’.

We suggest using the format below - you can also use an * to note independently-published decks. Please try to use this sticky for posting your wishlist, instead having too many similar threads at one time - and again, try to keep the list as simple as possible. PLEASE SEPARATE TAROT AND ORACLE DECKS, and keep it in LIST form, otherwise it makes it impossible to do tallies*. Thanks.

AGMueller posted the title Eden Tarot when it was known as Future or Zufkunst Tarot, but it was small deck, only in German and no one on Aeclectic ever wanted it...except me, it seemed.

But now it should be republished and hopefully the dark background and enlarged picture will show off it's beauty. My wish and hope is the book will be in English or Italian or French, some language that I can read more easily than German...

I have the Blue Moon Tarot...it's breathtaking! I don't recall her website, but the artist is Julie Cuccia-Watts. You might try doing a search on Google. I don't think she's producing any more, but hopefully she's working on a 78 card version!

I looked through your list, and did you know that you can still get the Hero's Journey from Arnell Ando? I have one on order. It may take a few months to get it, but I can wait for such a terrific deck!

I'd like a set thats cards are tall and narrow, and the pictures were in Soprafino/Russian/Renaissance/Gothic. with flares of Art Nouveau style art and had many unusual symbols and things that could really change the meanings of the cards. I'd also like the names to be in Latin.
I'd also like to see an Oracle card set based on alchemy and its spiritual symbology. I know one is out there, but I think it's quite crappy.
I'd love to be comissioned by someone to make a tarot set.

The deck currently on my wish list is the "Tarot of the Cloisters". I did a reading for someone last evening and she brought the deck with her so we could use it. I was blown away by the gorgeous artwork and colors, which have almost a 3-D effect. They are chakra colors and we both felt more balanced after having handled the deck. This deck is round, and I'm not generally attracted to round decks, but this was definitely the exception to the rule for me!

Millenium Tarot by Dorothy Krause, due in October 2004. Gorgeous golden images, rather simple but has depths--I noticed an astrological sign on the Empress background that seemed accurate (Taurus?) according to google searches...or it may be that I seem to enjoy seeing the images as graceful simplicity and painted classics.

Eden Tarot by Alika Lindbergh and Maud Kristen, either in French or English, hopefully available in September 2004. It's
painted with fantastic subtropical, perhaps Asian and African animals and beautifully costumed or not figures in a way that is newer to me. The only problems for me --original had small images, German text and the beautiful backgrounds only featured plain pips. If I knew more of the story in French, English or Italian...I ended up decorating my German version.

I've been trying to locate a relatively affordable deck of "tarot for cats" for ages, but no luck so far. Just recently, there was one up for sale at amazon, but by the time I located my creditcard it was already sold :(

That's what I would love to have...

I live in France, and I can't find a decent Colman-Smith Waite deck. All we have is the latest US Games, with UGLY French names printed instead of Pixie's lovely handwriting.

I would love to have a version printed in the early 70s, from US Games, that doesn't have the small copyright print on the edge of every picture and that doesn't have the miniscule cropping of the pictures that is disturbingly creeping into the US Games' more recent versions.

If anyone wants to send me one, please contact me off-list and see if we can make a trade.

Well, since the deck is to be released in the US in spring 2005, I would imagine they better print a lot of copies. I hope that Amazon.com will ship to your country. I can't imagine why not. I had no idea that the Druids Grove would be out of stock so soon. But then again, I think this is a very popular deck already. I really like it.

There's only one Tarot deck on my wishlist: Any deck illustrated mainly with line drawings meant to be colored in by the user. I think the Lights & Shadows Tarot (name right?) would be hard to color that way, and i'm pretty sure the artist would feel about it the way Woody Allen feels about someone

Tarot of the Animal Lord - I saw this deck in a Pet Shop!! in the village that i live in and hadn't seen it before. I looked at the box and liked what i saw and as soon as i got home i read a review of it on tarotpasssages that looked really good and showed more cards which i liked. I put a search in on aeclectic, but didn't really get any hits for this deck, still i definitely want it and have decided to get it tomorrow if it's still there!

The Tarot de Marseilles that I have raed much about in AT sounds like on e I could relate to.
I think I'd like another Shining tribe deck, my first one lost its 3 swords one day to a gust of wind (reading outdoors) so I gave that deck to my (then ) toddler.
I'd love a couple of Hello Tarot decks, I've read somewhere that they are black and white, not laminated so one can color in all of the images herself, thus learning along the way. ( I want to do this with my daughter, each of us w/ our own deck). BTW Hello Tarot is the "Hello Kitty" tarot, the death card of which is so cool (Hello Kitty characters riding on the horses of the apocolypse?)

It would be cool to have the Moon Card from The Blue Rose - because it reminds me of a dream I had in my adolescence. The figure in the robe was me.

I think that it would be great if you could just purchase cards here and there from different decks. It would be terrific to frame and hang on the wall for contemplation over your morning coffee, tea or maybe evening wine with quiet music--maybe Debussy or Kitaro. I wish I could dream in Tarot.

I do know they have a Unicorn Tarot (called exactly that) out there...I've seen it myself, and know at least one girl who keeps it as her absolute favourite deck. The first time I saw it was when she used it to give me a reading...and it was beautiful. Twas an old, time worn, and much loved deck, and when she took it out of the cloth she carried it in (and she carried the deck with her everywhere) and did a reading for me there, at the coffee shop frequented by many a goth and occultist in the area...you could just see her love for the deck pouring forth as she gave the reading...it was a beautiful thing to see. Check Amazon, they should sell it...its not an uncommon deck. Just do a search for "Unicorn Tarot," and it should come up. I also know they have decks out for just about every mythological character out there...I've seen the Dragon Tarot and the Mermaid Tarot, both, for instance. But, no, I've never seen a deck combining all of the various mythological beasts into one deck. Would be really cool if they did, though.

About 6 months ago I was reading one of my decks called the Arthurian Tarot...using it on a family that ended up really being distructive and cruel to me. As members of that family were the only people I ever read for other than myself with that deck, I left the cards there. I was there visiting...things went very bad...never went to get them back.

The other day I found myself longing for them...wanting them back...like I had lost a friend...but NOT wanting the ones I used on them...the ones that had been in their possession for a while. I had been offered them back once...again...just a bad scene...

Anyway...today I decided to do a search for them cause I could not remember who designed or published them. I was almost panicking as I was searching cause at first I could not find them. But eventually I did find the cards and I am so excited.

I went to the site where there were pictures of them...and I KNEW them...I felt like I needed them right NOWWWW!. I was overwhelmed by emotions and this deep ache...obviously I am ordering them.

Anyway thats my story and I was wondering if something similar had ever happened to anyone here...if anyone else experiences the longing for particular decks?

RWS the University Press deck with the pink/Ahnk back - my very first tarot deck that mysteriously disappeared many, many years ago and lately I feel a strong need to replace it. Unfortunately, very hard to find, and the few I've seen come up on Ebay don't often ship outside the USA. I had a newer version of this deck (the US Games with the ugly "plaid" back), but it has apparently been lost or misplaced a few moves ago, so instead of buying a new one I hope to replace it with a University Press deck.

Tarot of the Magical Forest - not something I would normally want or even have come up on my radar, but for some strange reason the more I see the images the more I would like to have it. Deceptively "cutesy" with a darker undertone I find fascinating. Price for the deck itself is not an issue, but the only ones I've seen for sale are on Ebay, and I tend to choke at the $15.00 US international shipping for a $25.00 deck!

I'm trying to avoid buying a lot of decks I know I will never use, so I'm trying to keep the deck count I buy to around 4 so I have to really convince myself I want a deck before I buy it. Right now I have the Gilded Tarot (for everyday use), so 3 to go!

You know what?

I was looking on eBay last night, and of course single cards of the Rock & Roll are $5 to $10... and just looking at them makes me ache a bit. This is partly because when the artist put the deck out, I didn't freaking buy it. I kept putting it off, and (this seems ridiculous now) I thought $50 was too much to pay for a tarot deck. Finally I wised up, and had $50 to spend on it; I emailed him and he said he had run out a couple of months previous.

And now it's $425, even here on the forums.

I loved its images so much from the first time I saw some of them on his site, before he released the deck. I am rather familiar with the music of almost all the musicians featured in the deck, and who goes with which cards seems utterly perfect. The lyric choices, too, are perfect.

Just leaving for Montreal. So I thought that since this lovely city is the next best thing to being in Paris, I might try to find the Marseilles deck to add to my collection. I am also quite interested in picking up the Sola Busca.

Probably the China Tarot, because of its artwork. I'd love to have a nice anime tarot that is much more about imagery than symbolism. While I love the Thoth deck because I am a student of the occult, I feel like sometimes it's nice to just look at a deck and not have to go digging for your store of Kabbalah knowledge or Astrology knowledge. Basically, you look at the deck and think: it's obvious that blah blah blah blah. That would be a nice change, I feel like.

I'm also looking at buying the Rider Waite again because it is an easy deck (in my opinion) to read. I learned tarot with it so I know much more about it than I do with the Thoth deck (though I've had it for 3 years). Much more ease and imagery dealing with humans in the minor arcana.

for the day and had a tarot reading with this deck. It was the MOST
awesome reading I've ever had. She used the large Thoth deck, from that
moment, I wanted that deck. I almost had at Barnes and Noble, but I was the only one with any money and everyone was handing me stuff. The kids
each wanted books and hubby wanted books. So I put it back on shelf for

I really like the Radiant Rider-White.

Years ago, I had a friend who had the original Rider-White. I didn't care for the harsh yellows in that deck. I felt since the RWS deck is a 'classic' and so many modern decks are based on it, I should have a copy. I really like the Radiant's colours (especially the blues), it's an improvement over the earlier versions IMHO.

Few weeks ago I announced everyone around me that I was over with my tarot collection. I had so much of them.
Then I got the Gold victorian, and liking it a lot, the Fanstactic ménagerie from the same author... I had to.

Few days ago, I just got on the Kat Black Tarot Cielo thread, sure I desperatly want it... I cant wait... and they are only 5 cards completed.

Then I saw the Scarabeo catlog for 2007, I must have the Wirth tarot, the medieval, and the Golden Boticelli, and maybe the Elves dans the Scarabeo.

How come people never believe me when I say I am stopping my collection?

The Minchiate Etruria is still available in numbered edition from El Menghelo. It is a very lovely antique looking deck of 97 cards, whith and handmade look, and a special edition. I have twos of theirs (mine's are Minchiate Fiorentine, and my very favorite Soprafino) and they sure are very special.

If you want it, you may buy it from Alida. It's in Italy, but they speak English and are very friendly. If I recall well mine had cost around $30 with shipping which is not so bad considering it is a numbered limited edition.

The druidcraft is generally well loved, background are gorgeous, (it is "egg painting") but peoples face are cartoonish, hand and feet are oversized, and I never had been able to use it.

The human face is the hardest thing to draw. You can fake most things, but we know the human face so well, having observed every variation of it all our lives, that errors in anatomy - and they are very subtle, the structures of the face - give us a great sense of unease. Good skin tones are my biggest issue with many tarot decks. It is so hard to get right, and so many painters just can't do it. (myself included).

I'm going to have to reconsider my wishlist now. The Druidcraft was right up there... but like every other deck, there are a few cards that make me cringe.

it is a list of sites (posted by Inana) that show the entire deck, and at some of the sites you may be able to purchase what you find and like/want from them.

Have you tried a general Tarot "deck w/ book" search at Amazon.com?
You might find it there. They have deck & book sets for around $15 or so; very reasonable prices there.

When I am having trouble finding a particular book, I go to Barnes & Noble in town and ask them to run a search for what I am looking for. They usually find whatever it is that I need. A friend of mine has done this with her search of particular Tarot deck & book sets and gotten good results at B&N as well. You can find CDs and they've even located a rare movie on VHS for me for cheap too.

Right now, I really love the Gothic Tarot of Vampires. I don't know if I'd read with it regularly, but it would be such a neat deck to have. I love vampires, and the way they're depicted in on the cards seem very appealing. I'm not sure when, or if, I'll be able to get it, though.

I kind of like the Lovers Tarot, but I have mixed feelings about it.

I noticed that my wish list grew smaller as I had some disappointments this year. So now there are only those left I really want:

* Golden Botticelli
* Golden Visconti-Sforza
* Mantegna (all three for historical reasons and the fact that they feature gold / silver effects)
* Hanson-Roberts (because it's a child-appropriate deck and I finally want one for this purpose)
* Mystic Faerie (I'm so in :heart: with it)
* Vanessa (still not so sure about it but somehow I like the concept of a womanly / girly deck)

still on the list: Glastonbury and Hudes (both hard to find for me - they like to play hide-and-seek)

Tarot decks I want? Oh my word, I could go mad on this one...I can quite easily spend an hour or two just browsing through the lovely decks showcased here on AT!

Right now I'd really like to get the 'Animals Divine' tarot deck & book set, by Lisa Hunt. It really, really appeals to me (I'm a bit of an animal nut) and once I discovered what it was called and saw the card images I realised it's one that's been calling me for a long time :)

I'd also like the 'Spirit of the Wheel' meditation deck because it's illustrated by one of my favourite artists, Jody Bergsma. I might use it, but I think mostly I'd just drool over the beautiful artwork :D

There's a few others that have tickled my fancy as well, but I want to find out more about them first. I'm very cautious about spending money, which is a good thing really when you're faced with so many nice decks!
