Deer antlers

Have any of you had any experiences or have in-depth knowledge of working with Deer antlers?

As most know antlers are naturally shed by male deers after the mating season...
I'd read that antlers are more suitable for males to work with.

Any opinions/ experiences about working with antlers would be greatly appreciated.

Only that we met a medicine man at a longhouse where we stayed in Sarawak, in Borneo. He had a small antler that had come to him although I've forgotten the story that came with it. At any rate, he felt it was powerful. My husband is in the army. The shaman shaved off a tiny piece of the horn and gave it to my husband for protection. I sewed it into a tiny red pouch that he taped to his dogtag the first time he went to Iraq. He came back fine. The little bag was lost somewhere along the way.

I found a deer antler while walking in the woods....took it home and placed on my altar. A few days later, someone I used to work with found one on her walk, and gifted it to me...so now I have a "pair" of them. I keep them on my altar space
