This is a poll to see how many people incorporate Astrology and/ or Numerology in their Tarot studies/readings.

Well, I've studied some numerology and astrology in the past, before I studied tarot, so I haven't studied them because I wanted to understand tarot better. I think it helps a little to understand the cards and to get deeper on some level, but I don't think it's a must.
I checked off Tarot only. I have done some reading on numerology, but don't incorporated it much in my readings. Unless of course, I am reading with my Marseille!

As I am more book-learned, as opposed to many of the more intuitive readers here, I feel it helps me to have a wider spectrum of knowledge to draw from. Thus, I study (or rather have studied) both astrology and numerology. I find it brings another dimension to the cards, and allows me to draw connections that I normally wouldn't have accessed. (For example, recently did a reading where an 8 was in the past and an 8 was in the future. This told me that the whole 8 vibration was surrounding the situation... and it would be helpful to bring a numerological [if that's a word!] perspective to the reading.)
Also, I'm geek! -- and I love to learn, so any excuse (not that one is ever needed) to study more, I'm all over it.
I don't think it is imperative to study numerology, astrology, or even tarot itself. But I do think that knowledge is power... whether that knowledge is self-obtained, or through the past works of others... and I would recommend the addition of these studies if one is so inclined.
my 2 cents,
joya
I study Astrology, but not in connection with Tarot. There are some similarities in the signs and cards, but too many differences for my liking. I'm just not convinced that they were meant to go together.
Numerology is a different matter, I absolutely use it with Tarot.

Just since I've been on AT have I started paying attention to the numbers and how they can add to my insights/reactions raised by the images. I now notice when a lot of the same number come up, never did that before . . .
I don't read the astrology charts but study the signs, & planets for Tarot.
I study the numbers for Tarot. (I also tell people their #'s ect. with readings.)
Everything extra I have studied was for Tarot.
Everything is connected once you find the loop!

I don't 'do' numerology, or astrology, or even tarot per se. However, I do study the symbolic meaning of numbers, and zodiac signs and planets as part of my tarot studies. I also read widely in history, philosophy, the Western Mystery Tradition - particularly Qabala, Hermetics, Alchemy and so on.
My professional background is in psychology and social work, and later in alternative healing. All gets incorporated. After all, Tarot is life ... so, for me, the broader the focus, the greater the understanding of it.
I also love learning, and with each question that arises, I search for answers, and the new questions which arise. But that's me.

Before I began learning Tarot about 6 months ago, I had a book of Astrology basics and could figure out a natal chart, read the daily horoscope and that was about it. Numerology was something I'd heard about and had no clue.
Since June I've learned a whole lot more, it's not like I'm going at this with my nose to the grindstone, but picking up more all the time, mainly due to reading other reader's interpretations and the links they leave to the sources for astrological and numerological relationships with Tarot. I think it's really cool and intriguing and does expand my understanding in ways I'd never imagined. So while I'm not super dedicated to study, I try to take advantage of every scrap of information I run across. I am an eternal student, it's what keeps life interesting and mind's from becoming full of cobwebs and dust.

Before I got interested in Tarot, I read a lot about astrology.
I now recognize that the acquired knowledge related to astrology is very useful when reading tarot. It helps me to build meanings.
Concerning numerology, I'm only aware of the basics (really basic). I know that it can also be very useful in Tarot but right now I'm not yet very motivated to its study.
Perhaps I'll "bump" into something/someone that arises my interest in numerology as it was what happened with astrology and with the tarot. :D

I don't like astrology, and I won't go into why since I am sure I have several times already (if interested, just do a search for "khatruman" and "astrology").
The poll asked if I have "studied" numerology, and I must say that I have a passing knowledge as far as how it works in the Majors and minors, but I would like to understand it better to be able to work better with Marseilles and other non-illustrated pip decks. I do see numerology as valuable.
Astrology though... don't see those suns billions of light years away making me behave in certain ways, but I am sure you astrological proponents will simply shake your heads and say, "Ahhh, typical Aries response." :P
Tarot only for now learning one thing at a time
Well I guess study tarot only, I don't know very much about astrology and I know diddley about numerology.
i only have the minutest knowledge re astrology and numerology (and kaballah) and these are all supportive of my tarot studies...
its like without tarot, i wouldnt be able to use either astrology or numerology by itself...

I started studying Astrology almost 21 years ago(though not as diligently as I should have). I dabbled with Tarot off and on until 4 years ago, when I became a "serious" Tarot student. It was also 4 years ago that I first started studying Numerology. For me I see these subjects as linked. They form a triangle. Each one has a unique perspective, but they all relate to one another. I think studying all 3 together deepens my understanding and increases my insight.

I love resurrections! I incorporate/study astrology and numerology along with tarot...

Just studying tarot is the only thing I have time for now, without adding something else on to it. I have a beginner's book on astrology and I have my natal chart, and I understand a little of what's going on it. But, I don't combine the two fields.

At the moment I only study tarot, but I would like to start studying numerology because I'd like to start collecting some older style and unillustrated pip decks :)
I do know a little bit of numerology, but for the moment when reading RWS-style decks I don't use my knowledge at all.

I studied tarot first, then astrology but not in connection with tarot and I had a passing knowledge of numerology (something I'd looked into but never really studied).
Now I've pretty much stopped astrology and numerology on their own but do use them with tarot.

I have learnt a bit about numerology as I went along - I use it for decks that have unscenic minors, and sometimes as extra info with scenic minors as well.
I know very little about astrology, and at the moment I am not going to study it - in fact, I am trying to use my intuition more rather than learning yet another system.

I only study tarot. I may pick up a little tidbit here and there about numerology or astrology but usually it leaves me about as quickly as I pick it up. Those things just don't seem to stick with me very long for some reason.

Am trying to pick up astrology and incorporate little bits when they feel right in a Tarot reading.
I chose tarot only
I’ve studied (and still do study ) some cabalah and mythology and in connection to this I also gather knowledge of numerology and astrology as a side-effect of this but not as a subject an-sich.
But because I’m stronger in verbal, lyric expression than in numerical thinking i do not really use numerological connections. I see rather think and see images than number connections, at a certain period i tried to include numerology but it felt to artificial to do for me.
"Astrology & Numerology" are not what most people think~
They're easy! because in the end, you choose for yourself!
The books get stale very fast...but you look for personal
meanings that work for you, and just walk away happily.
Just like a Number is a quantity, but also a Quality.
Astrology is a Science, but also it's a Star Party
Alright...say that some people used Fish to read Tarot.
Fishology would be the name of that peculiar discipline,
and there would be all kinds of books about lots of fish.
But who cares what any book says about some fish...
unless you have a fish, and you care about it, and you
want to know all there is to keep your fish alive & well.
Astrology & Numerology are just a bunch of "keywords"
unless they mean something personally to your beliefs.
Why not 'adopt' Mars? Rename that dear little red planet
something more friendly than a candy bar and begin then
to find out what 'Mars' means to you. Did you know that
Mars will be near the Sun for quite some time now and it
will be out of our ability to view? There's lots to find out,
but find it out for yourself and let the books be books. ;)
I voted for tarot and numerology.
I think I've just naturally 'got into' numerology by using the tarot but I've never bothered with astrology, I think it's seems to be a massive subject and I don't think I could devote enough time studying it to do it justice.

I'm not in any way opposed to people studying astrology, numerology, or anything else for that matter, and connecting it with their tarot studies.
I don't include them myself because I find quite enough to keep me busy with tarot per se, without adding any more dimensions to what is already pretty vast. I confess to a secondary interest in certain oracle card decks though.

I study number symbolism as part of the tarot study, but not numerology per se. Any number system that can take 25 and end up with 7 makes me twitch. I hope my bank doesn't try it. That said, I admit there is some overlap. Maybe I study numerology but don't do it. :)
Astrology, no. Astronomy yes, but it doesn't connect very well with the tarot.
I think Astrology & Numerology helps a little to understand the cards and to get deeper on some level
Up until I grabbed the 2 books "Power tarot" and "illustrated tarot spreads" I only studied tarot. However, I am one to try and keep an open mind and in all honosty the numbers on the cards are there for a reason, at least in my opinion.
So when reading about numerology my curiosity was aroused. I'm seriously considering to get the numeric outcome of my (weekly) reading tomorow to see if there really is a "global" factor covering my trusty celtic cross spread. Heck, I'm studying the cards anyway so I doubt there will be anything wrong with me writing it down as usual (only when I encounter a special spread) and later in the evening look at a numeric value. Nothing out of the ordinary where the reading or deck is concerned, just between the ears.
Alas.. To answer the poll: I chose both tarot and numerology.
