black tourmaline

I am very new to crystals... I bought a black tourmaline stone today and am wondering what people's associations with it are. It has a very solid, grounding energy to me. Also deep mystery. I found myself singing blessings of Hecate over it.

Anyway, does any of this line up to the energy it is generally understood to possess?

Black Tourmaline is brilliant for grounding, probably one of the best! It's also one of the best protective stones against negative energy (people used to say against evil witches magic ) and if you take in other peoples energies.

However I have read a lot about it and it seems to be too powerful for some people! so see how you are affected by it. I am a bit nervous to buy it because I am really sensitive and just worried it will affect me. But I think I want to buy it and see!

It has interesting qualities of blocking energies from negative to auras to even EMF pollution.

Awesome. That's really helpful. I found a blog where a woman talked about it being cool because it transforms negative energy as opposed to just absorbing it. Seems like a good stone for healers / readers because it is grounding and also can clear out the "muck" that clients may bring along with them.

I'm digging it now that I've cleansed it. I'm doing a stint as an herbalist tomorrow as a conference and I'm bringing it with me just to have in the room.

I can see how using quartz along with it would lighten its energy too.
