View Full Version : Tarot for Yourself - Chpt. 5 Court Card Personalities
THE COURT CARD PERSONALITIES
The information presented here is taken from Chapter 5 of Tarot for Yourself by Mary Greer. The purpose of this summary is to initiate our work into the exercises presented in the same chapter, thus the ideas presented here are Mary Greer's not my own. In addition I would like to recommend Thirteen's Tarot Basic section (on these boards) for those that are having trouble interpreting the court cards and/or are new to Tarot. With credits properly given here is the summary of Chapter 5.
Court cards are often the hardest cards for readers to interpret. According to Ms. Greer, court cards operate primarily in two ways, they are: (1) representatives of you (or the querent), (2) represents someone you know, particularly someone on whom you (or the querent) projects parts of their personality. These two ways can, and usually do, operate simultaneously.
Kings and Queens usually represent someone in authority or to whom you look to for direction. They are usually mature persons that are able to give you advice. Knights often refer to young men who bring energy into your life, "they invite, entice, encourage and pull you along with their interests." They tend to be "experienced as headstrong and single focused." Pages often refer to children or young women or "any person who brings messages or new ideas." As parts of yourself, court cards can represent the way you are acting given a specific situation, "those aspects of your identity which you are drawing upon."
Ms. Greer goes on to talk about the Jungian framework of "projection," which refers to characteristics (good or bad) that we possess and project and see in others when they are really our own. This means that person on whom we project these characteristics may or may not really have them. When we see or "project" these characteristics on another person, we are in essence able to "see what power and abilities we might be "giving away."" This means that we might be "giving away" parts of ourselves we are "discouraged from expressing" and we find someone to "act them out" for us. Another form of projection is that of projecting our negative or "shadow" qualities on others.
In summary the book states "a reading containing several court cards often refers to your interpersonal relationships and the many different roles you have to play. Sometimes a fragmentation of your energies is indicated by all these different personalities and aspects you are expressing."
Following the description, the chapter is divided into four sections:
1. The Court Card Party
2. Understanding the Court Cards
3. The Three Modes of Tarot
4. Contacting Your Inner Teacher Card
Each section contains a series of exercises. As you post your exercises please label the post with the section you are working on. Please make sure to include what deck you are using in your post as this will assist the rest of the group in providing commentary or providing assistance when requested.
EXERCISE - THE COURT CARD PARTY
This exercise has two distinct sections. Please post your work for both sections. Make sure and include which deck you are using. First, pull out the court cards from your favorite deck and spread them out randomly in front of you. Pretend they are people at a party and answer the following questions:
1. Which card are you most attracted to?
2. Which card would you like to avoid?
3. Which card do you feel the most comfortable with?
4. Which card do you feel talkative towards?
5. Which card do you feel secrecy and solitude about?
6. Which cards seem aloof or rude?
7. Which cards do you feel welcomed and warmed by?
Once you have answered those questions, lets take the exercise a step further so we can better understand the court card personalities. Pick 2 court card figures "who might be dynamically attracted to each other. Imagine a dialogue between them about some provocative subject. Write it out."
1. Court cards selected:
2. Conversation Topic:
3. Dialog
________________________________________________
SAMPLE EXERCISE:
Deck: Robin Wood
PART 1:
1. I feel attracted to the King of Wands - He seems to have a cheery and positive demeanor, there is something about the way he carries himself that reminds me of the Magician. He seems fun and easy going with a lot of energy.
2. I would like to avoid the King of Swords - He looks unapproachable with his arms across his chest and the serious face. Way too serious for me.
3. I feel uncomfortable with the Queen of Swords - she seems to be expecting or demanding something … feels like forced compliance to me.
4. I feel talkative towards the Queen of Wands - She seems so friendly and warm, really funny and sweet. She looks like she has all kinds of neat things to share. She projects a lot of positive energy. Her smile is very inviting.
5. I feel solitude about the Knight of Pentacles - He seems quiet and reserved, very responsible. Somehow I get the sense that sometimes he carries the weight of the world on his shoulders, which makes him sometimes withdrawn and quiet … he keeps the secrets of his burden instead of sharing them with the others.
6. The Queen and Knight of Cups seem aloof; the King, Queen and Knight of Swords seem somewhat rude and/or aloof; and the Knight of Pentacles seems aloof to me.
7. I feel warm and welcomed by King and Queen of Wands, the King of Cups, King of Pentacles and the Page of Swords.
PART 2:
The court cards I selected to have a dialogue are the King of Pentacles and the Queen of Wands. The topic: Upcoming Costume Party
KP: ~humor in his voice~ Well hello there
QW: ~smiles playfully and answers in a cheery voice~ well hello!!
KP: Are you coming to my costume party?
QW: I would not miss it for the world! So are you dressing up like a corporate tycoon? ~laughs~
KP: ~laughs~ Why if I did that I would just be my boring old self! No I think I shall dress up like Dyonisus.
QW: ~busts out laughing but in a very feminine way~ Oh!! You party animal you!! Need some help with your costume design?
KP: I have already purchased it, but if you have any specific ideas I would love to hear them ... after all you are very creative ~gives her seductive smile his eyes glinting with a hint mischief~ …
QW: Are you flirting with me? ~laughs~ All I have to say is don't take your role as Dyonisus too seriously or you might end up shattering your image.
KP: And what Goddess will you be shaming with your radiance and beauty?
QW: ~laughs~ Ohhhh how about Medussa? ~waves her hands about her head pretending they are snakes and giggles~
i used robin woods deck for this.
and i picked just one card for each question, the one that fitted best, turns out they are all different cards.
i feel attracted to page of pentacles.
here i see part of myself, as a kid and now. always dicovering new things, being outside in nature and enjoying that.
i would like to avoid the king of swords
he looks very defensive, not someone you would wish to have against you. he would go all the way to eliminate you if you seriously opposed him.
i feel uncomfortable with the queen of cups.
she represents to me the sharing of emotions, and as i am not so good at that, i don't feel comfortable with her.
i feel gay and talkative with the queen of wands.
this is someone with lots of energy and passion in all that she does. she is a do-er, always active and she has a winner attitude. yea, i can relate to her very well.
i feel a secrecy and solitude with the queen of swords.
she is a interesting person, very intelligent and confident about herself. she knows from experience, but doesn't give it all away. someone with an unusual, unconventional approach to things, which makes her a loner sometimes.
the knight of swords seems rude.
he is someone that just charges in, not caring about anything or anyone, going for the goal he set out, and thinking he has all the right in the world to do so.
i feel welcomed and warmed by the queen of pentacles.
she represents the mom i never had......
kaz
jewel,
i see we have some cards in common :)
after doing this, and telling my reasons for picking that card for that question, i see that this tells a lot about myself.
what did you experience?
kaz
Hiya Kaz :) I could not help but smile when I noticed we had selected cards in common. Obvioulsy you and I are attracted to the same type of personality and we also agree on who we want to avoid. I also felt this exercise helped me pin-point why I have selected certain persons as my friends, those I try to avoid, etc. I got a lot more out of the exercise than I had expected to.
Wait until you do the second part of the exercise, the dialogue, it really helped me see what specific qualities of the cards attracted me. This is an exercise I think I will also try with 2 of the cards I liked the least, and then also in combination. This hopefully will help me explore what it is in the cards that makes me percieve them to be either rude or aloof. By the way I loved your description of the Knight of Swords, that was the exact image I had.
I look forward to seeing your dialogue piece, and later this week I will post the next exercise in Chp. 5. Maybe you and I can alternate leading for each Chpt. until Bec can re-integrate fully then we can split them 3 ways. What do you think?

1. Q of Swords
2. Knight of Swords
3. Q of swords ( i have had this card alot recently )
4. Q of Rods
5. P of Rods/P of cups
6. Q of Pentacles ( although very beautiful! )
7. Q of swords
Step 2:
1. King of cups and Queen of Rods
2. Topic: holidays
3. Dialog:
King: Hello old girl, where will you be travelling to this year?
Queen: I should rather like to stay at home and tend to the garden this year.
King: Fair enough. Mind you, I do yearn for sunnier climes! I like to be away from home as much as possible when I get the chance.
Queen: I am happy as long as I am surrounded by beauty although I do hear there are some great deals going around for Amsterdam....
i will give the dialog a serious shot, but mind you, english is not my first language and telling stories is hard for me.
kaz
imperium, welcome here :)
may i ask why you choose the cards you choose? curious here now...........
kaz
Hi Imperium! Welcome to the group! I am also curious as to why you selected the cards you did. Sorry I guess I forgot to tell you that we are nosy here *LOL*. Great to have you with us.

You can do it Kaz! *LOL* no one is asking you to write a book here *ROFLAMO* ... maybe you can pick two of the court cards from your Templar decknd use them in the exercise ... I was thinking that could complement the work we are doing in the other study group.

Well, Jewel,
I'm sure Kaz can do it to, --
But --
Your dialogue was so bright and sparkling, so well done, it's kind'a intimidating, don't 'cha think? (I wanna read the novel 'fore I see the movie!)
What fun!
Tarot should be fun, 'cause it's hard to take anybody too seriously who is to serious, don't 'cha think?
I'll be reading.

Well my dearies, I have an affinity with the Q of swords as she appears a lot in my readings and I feel most comfortable with her. After re-reading my dialog I can see some things happening,...
The Q of wands represents me taking control of my spirituality ( or it taking control of me maybe! ). I want to 'stay at home' and work on it effectively.
The K of cups could be the emotional link that I don't have with men ( a long story! :-) and the difficulties I find in this area. He wants to 'stay away' or as he states 'yearns for sunnier climes'!
Yes, yes, indeed there is a lot here which describes my situation in life!
Thanks for the interest.

Hi Talisman! thanks for your kind comment ~blushes~. What can I say? I got "into" the exercise *LOL*. I absolutly love the Tarot on many levels and use it for many different things (though primarily spiritual development). I hope that by sharing the work I do, I can help others like me trying to learn more, as well as learn from their comments, opinions and corrections when I have strayed off base. Aeclectic has proven to be a wonderfully safe community where I feel I can fully express and share so that I might be gently guided further along my path through what I learn from others here. Again, thanks for your encouragement :)
P.S.: I will make sure you get the first copy of the book ... if I ever write one *LOL*
:THP :TJUST :TJUDG
Imperium, that is really neat that you identified so well. When I did this I found that my attraction to the Q of Wands are that she represents the better aspects of myself ... the things I like about myself. Guess I better quickly post the next phase of Chpt. 5 (tomorrow), so that we can continue our Court Card work. It will be posted in this same thread.

Jewel,
Yes I see your point about the Queen of Swords, although I often feel that she is often trying to tell me that she holds qualities that I need to exert in myself. Being a Virgo I often hold back on speaking my mind or being more assertive. A lot of people get the impression that I am a 'walk over' because I am not easily rattled by anything - therefore little agression. However I do always sort things out in my own way. I also avoid conflict at all costs. The position of authority is something I think I will always struggle with!
Can't wait for the next exercise although will be away this weekend due to witchy antics in other parts of the country.
Speak soon,,,,
bb
Imperium, my mom is a Virgo and I can clearly see what you mean. Perhaps what the Queen of Swords is wanting to tell you is that you do not need confrontation to hold your ground, that by using your intellect, intelligence and mental faculties you can overcome your doubts and become more assertive without having to engange in those things that make you uncomfortable. There is much power and authority in a quiet but firm stance (take a look at the Queen of Wands from the Robin Wood deck sometime, she is what I am trying to describe to you - gentle but firm).
Sorry I have not posted the second exercise yet ... I am having a little trouble with historical characters (not huge on history) and with geometrical shapes representing each court card.
Kaz do you think that table exercise is worth doing here or should we move on to the inner teacher one? I am not sure I have gotten much out of the table exercise. Comments? suggestions?

Do you think it would be ok to skip ahead so that I can study this chapter with yall, or should I do ch.s 3 & 4 1st?
Also, how can I make sure that I get an email when a new Tarot for Yourself thread is posted? Is that possible?
SE you are more than welcome to join us on court cards if you would like. I would encourage you to also continue your work on chapt. 3 and 4. When we jump onto Chpt. 6 you will note that we already did the permutation section (we did that with Chpt. 4 - so as you can see we skip around too *LOL*). Just work at your own pace and however it feels best for you. We have been taking our time so I am sure you will catch up regardless within no time *LOL*. We are here to work with you until we finsih this book! (Then onto Tarot Costellations!).
As for subscribing to a thread just check the options box that says E-mail notification below the message box you type in.

Thanks Jewel,
I understand about checking the box once I've seen the thread. I am wondering how you know when a new thread has been started. For example, when you 1st posted this thread, I was assuming that since I subscribe to the study groups forum, that I would have been notified when a new thread was started. But I didnt see the thread till several days later when I logged on to Aeclectic. I guess I just have to check every day to make sure I dont miss anything.
Jewel,
i don''t think the table will be much use to do, so we might skip that one. I will leave it to you though :-)
and, about the conversation i still have to do, help me a bit with some topics those cards could talk about?
i will be slow in posting due to techy probs here, but working on it to get alternative connection.
kaz
Kaz, per our e-mail exchange this AM I sent you a suggestion for the topic for your court card discussion, if that does not work for you let me know I will make anther suggestion.
SE I am not sure what you would need to do. I just check, I have not subscribed to any of it.
Will try to post next exercise in Chpt. 5 tomorrow, and will be skipping the correspondence table (which Kaz I redid with the Cosmic Tribe and was able to do it better, but still did not find parts of the exercise that helpful).

Deck: Old Path
I feel attracted to the Queen of Cauldrons (cups). She seems so loving and open. I see aspects of myself that I want to develop.
I would like to avoid the Knight of Rods. His fiery temper seems about to flare up at any time.
I feel uncomfortable with the Knight of Cauldrons. He seems too needy for love, smothering, clingy (see my dialogue for further examples)
I feel happy and talkative with the Queen of Rods. She has a girl-next-door feel about her. The type you plop down on the bed with and talk about guys, hopes and dreams, etc. while doing each other's hair or nails.
I feel secrecy and solitude about the Queen and Knight of Pentacles. The Queen seems wistful, and the Knight like he is perfectly happy and comfortable when by himself.
The Queen of Swords seems like she could be quite rude at times, the King of Pentacles seems actually snobbish, and the Pages of Swords and Pentacles seem too involved with their own lives to be bothered by anyone else.
I feel welcomed and warmed by the Queens of Cauldrons and Rods. They are definitely the hostesses here. (I don't know how to better explain that; it just fits)
I also felt compelled to add another dimension
I feel protected by the King of Swords. While he is calm, almost reflective, his sword is at hand to defend any who might need defending and to maintain the peace.
dialogue to follow

Deck: Old Path
Cards chosen: Knight of Cauldrons & Queen of Swords
Topic: the Nature of Love
<in a dark hallway just off from the main ballroom>
:TKNC : Milady, come away with me . . . I implore you!
:TQS : Go with you? Certainly not! What would people say?!
:TKNC : I don't care what others say as long as we can be together!
:TQS : Dear boy, we could not be together. I am a queen; I have responsibilities, to my king and my kingdom. And you are much too young for me. And . . .
:TKNC : <interrupting> Please my queen, do not go on. <falling to his knees> I love you! I am your servant! I'll do anything to be with you.
:TQS : <smiling wistfully> I do not need a servant, but a man who is my equal. Someone I can share my life with, not someone who gives in to my every whim. How can I explain this so that you'll understand? <sigh> Your "love" is like a raging river, roiling and crashing, powerful -- but always moving, changing. I want, no I need a love more like that lake over there <pointing out the window>, smooth and deep, maintaining its sense of self. True a gentle breeze will stir the surface, the ripples slowly spreading out, but not changing the depths of the emotion.
:TKNC : I can do that! I can be anything you need me to be!
:TQS : <gently> No, you can't. Not yet anyway. Maybe when you've grown, experienced more, then you'll understand, and you'll realize that it is better this way. But not now. It's not in you now to be the man I need you to be. <kisses the knight softly on the cheek and returns to the party>

For some reason, I couldn't do this excercise with my universal deck. So, I used my crystal deck instead. I don't know enough about any of the court cards to make informed impressions so I would really appreciate your pointing out to me where my impressions are right and wrong.
I feel attracted to: King of Wands -
He seems self assured, comfortable with himself. Strong and deep but also copassionate and gentle.
I would like to avoid: Knight of Swords -
He has a look on his face like he is contemplating something evil or hurtful, maybe revenge of some kind. He seems to be holding the horse in such rein that it is uncomfortable. He seems very selfish and unconcerned about anyone but himself.
I feel uncomfortable with: King of Pentacles
In my deck he is sitting on a throne atop a desolate rocky mountain and looking down with a disapproving air. I feel like he is judging me harshly. Because he is older than me, I want his approval. It reminds me of being called into the hall by a teacher when I was in grade school and bursting into tears because I had disappointed my teacher.
I feel gay and talkative with: The Knight of Wands.
She is beautiful and adventurous. She looks like she likes to have a good time but not at the expense of others. She is not constricted by stereotypes and wants you to succeed as well. She'll tell you all the things you need to know and looks like she has a good sense of humor.
I feel a secrecy and a solitude with: The Queen of Cups.
She seems to hold the secrets to beauty, gentleness, and peace. She seems like the kind of person that you could share a comfortable silence with. She would understand if you declined an invitation that it had nothing to do with her, but everything to do with your need for solitude and she would be glad for you that you were taking care of yourself. She can keep a secret and not be judgemental.
These seem aloof or rude:
King of Pentacles
Queen of Pentacles
Knight of Swords
All of the Knaves
I feel welcomed and warmed by:
King of Wands
King of Swords
King of Cups
Queen of Wands
Queen of Swords
Queen of Cups
Knight of Wands
Kinght of Cups
Knight of Pentacles

King of Wands
Queen of Cups
Assumption is that they are married with teenage children (Knight of Wands (girl, 16) and Knight of Pentacles (boy, 15)
Q: You seem deep in thought, what's on your mind?
K: Just wondering if I did the right thing when I forbid Pen from riding his horse in the forests. I hope I wasn't too harsh with him. Even though he needs to get more serious with his studies and court matters, I do understand that he needs time to be a boy as well. He just seems to be spending too much time riding around daydreaming. He needs more balance in his life. I wish he were more like his sister in some ways.
Q: Don't judge yourself too harshly. He knows that you love him and that you are acting in his best interest. Perhaps you could consider giving him time on his horse as a reward for his efforts in his studies. As for Wanda, you have to remember that she is a year older. As a girl, she has naturally matured a little faster. He will catch up in a few years.
K: You are probably right. I should never compare them. After all, they have different personalities and different strengths. Maybe I could give him an hour riding time for every hour he puts forth in his studies. Maybe he will learn that the one can be beneficial to the other.
Q: That's a wonderful idea. There is something else that is bothering you as well. I sense that you are concerned about his ability to lead the country if something were to happen to you. It seems rather obvious to me that becoming king isn't high on his priority list.
K: Yes, he not only lacks the interest, but I fear that he also lacks the tools he needs to rule effectively. If only Wanda were a boy. She could succeed me and he could follow his own path.
Q: Perhaps you ought to consider Wanda as your successor anyway. She is the first born and has all of the qualities of a fine ruler. I think the country would welcome us bringing the monarchy into the 20th century. We can't make ourselves obsolete by hanging on to tradition at the expense of the monarchy. Just because you have a son, doesn't mean he has to be the heir to the throne.
K: You make some very good points. I'll talk to Pen. You may be right, he may feel like being the heir to the throne is a burden he doesn't want to bear. And Wanda has already won the heart of the people with her campaigns for the poor. It just may be the right time to have a Woman on the throne.
Q: I don't envy your decision. It is certainly a difficult issue with many factors to take into consideration. But, you are the man to do it. You will figure out the best course to take, I have great faith in you.
K: I don't know what I would do with out you. Come here, I don't think you've seen my wand today! LOL
Q: Chuckles and kisses him.
*ROFLMAO* These stories, both of them are great!!!!! This was so fun to read.
SE, the purpose of these exercises is for YOU to explore what the court cards mean to you, not to know the "text-book" definitions of them. The Kinf of Wands is definetly one of my favorites (he is my teacher card), and Wands is my favorite suit. I find it interesting how you perceived the Knight of Pentacles. I see him as a very serious type carrying the world on his shoulders, I will need to look him up in the Crystal deck that may be the difference right there. Just remember there are no "right" or "wrong" answers in these exercises, they are YOUR perceptions.
Napaisti, you hit my perceptions of these cards right on the nose. The level headed Queen that knows what she wants and needs, and the Knight that is so in love with love that he does not know quite who he is only what drives him.
Great job you guys!
What do you guys think of doing another role play scenario picking 2 of the court cards that we were uncomfortable with?

Knight of Swords and Knave of Cups
KS: I can't believe I have been out on campaigns all day and here you are playing with stupid flowers. What is wrong with you!
KC: I simply cannot bother with those dirty little campaigns of yours. I am always soiling my clothes and I can't abide that helmet! It gives me terrible hat head.
KS: You sniveling little twit! I ought to pee on your flower garden. That'll give you something to smell! Or shall I bring the hounds around to fertilize the place for you?!
KC: You wouldn't dare, you filthy fiend! This is a sacred place where I come to commune with my Higher Power. To defile it would be a sacrilege!
KS: Ooooh Defiling, now I'm into that! If there was such a thing as a Higher Power, they would never commune with such a dolt as you!
KC: Oh go away you little turd and take that filthy animal with you, you're both stinking up my garden and destroying the ambiance!
KS: Ok, weasle, we'll go. I hope you like the little gift we left you, it's still warm!
KC: Good riddance to bad rubbish! I don't care if I never see you again!

Thanks Kaz, here's something else to make you chuckle. I just looked back in the book to find my Inner Teacher Court Card and it is none other than the King of Pentacles, the one I felt uncomfortable with. How's that for a kick in the ol' bow tie! These cards are simply amazing to me.
*ROFLMAO* SE that was fantastic!!!!! Perhaps the endeavor you should take on is writing short stories using Tarot cards (draw cards and write stories based on what you draw). You are really talented!!!!

I feel I definetly need to learn more, so I'm sneaking my way into this thread, albeit 5 chapters too late!
Using: Hanson-Roberts deck.
1. Which card are you most attracted to?
I feel the most bonding with the Page of Swords. She seems focussed, intelligent and daring. She has a piercing stare, and a self-confidence that is easy to like.
2. Which card would you like to avoid?
I cannot feel any attraction to the Knight of Rods. He seems to fully immersed in his own quest, his golden armour shining, and his horse taking him away. He may feel like he is riding the quest for someone other than himself, but in doing so he has turned his back on me.
3. Which card do you feel the most comfortable with?
Queen of Swords. There is something in her coldness that shows warmth.
4. Which card do you feel talkative towards?
The Queen of Rods seems a gentle figure, down to earth, and accepting of any differences between herself and me. Her cat and flower are well cared for, and her subtle smile shows a comforting amusement at my presence.
5. Which card do you feel secrecy and solitude about?
The King of Pentacles. His preoccupation with his own affairs, and deep worry is too private to share with anyone, let alone trust them.
6. Which cards seem aloof or rude?
Queen of Pentacles
Knight of Rods
King of Rods
King of Pentacles
Page of Rods
Knight of Swords
Queen of Cups
7. Which cards do you feel welcomed and warmed by?
Queen of Rods
Page of Swords
King of Cups
Knight of Cups
Page of Cups
Page of Pentacles
Knight of Pentacles
King of Swords
Queen of Swords
dialogue...eesh, its hard to choose!
I have selected the Page of Cups and the Knight of Swords for
my dialogue
The Knight has returned from a hard day of campaigning with the King of Cups and his army, as part of the Suits-Exchange arrangement...Having removed nothing but his helm and shield, he sits in the garden to collect his thoughts.
The Page of Cups happens to pass by, and stops
PC: *looking abashed*
PC: *Still looking abashed*
KS: *looking up*. " Can I help you in some way, esquire?"
PC: *Stuttering*" A.A..Are you the b.brave Knight of Swords, m'Lord?"
KS: "I most certainly was the last time I checked, my girl. Have you perhaps heard of me, in this distant land?"
PC: "Why yes, Sir Knight Sir. I always listen to...to the King's speeches when I attend upon him, and he frequently mentions your legendary exploits. Why..."
KS: "Go on..."
PC: "Why, I was so enraptured by the stories of your bravery, I spilt wine all over His Majesty's side of beef..."
KS: *Laughs*
PC: *blushes*" I fear that I ever let my mind wander..."
KS: " To be honest, the Dragon of Blue Crag was nothing more than a big lizard, really...Quite a dumb beast, though troublesome to the ordinary peasant. As soon as I heard of its presence, I saddled my valiant Warhorse and set out to vanquish the beast. Done by teatime. Rather a pitiful affair, really."
PC: *flushes*" And now you retire to the gardens, to admire their beauty, and compose poetry with your skilful mind?"
KS: *snorts*"Poetry? Pah! I came out here to think about bravery."
PC: *blushes again* " Forgive me, m'Lord. I have dabbled with poetry myself, though I am only passing fair, since I head my King name it as one of the Knightly virtues..."
KS: *under breath* "sentimental old fool..."
PC: ...and after all, I hope..."
KS: *breathes on vambrace and begins polishing* "Yes?"
PC: "I hope one day to become a knight myself, sir"
KS: *chokes, Laughs, and chokes even harder* " A Knight!? You? By God girl, you haven't the strength to lift my cuirass, never mind my Sword!"
servant enters..."Sir Knight! The Black Dragon has left its lair, and is terrorising the villagers North of the City!"
KS: *rising rapidly* "Then I must go forth, and destroy it! Fetch my warhorse! Sound the Bugles!..."
KS: *exits*
PC: *looks at servant* "Tell me, man. Is not the Black Dragon some five hundred feet in length, and possessed of a breath of lightning, and claws of steel?"
Servant: "Why yes, milady"
PC: *flushes* "How Brave!"
I'm not cynical, really!
king of pents and queen of cups (KP & QC)
KP comes home on friday after a whole week of being away on a bussiness trip full of profitable negotiations.......
KP: honey, i am home.......
QC: finally, i missed ya
dinner is cooking and will be ready in half an hour, i was planning on us having a nice candlelight dinner for just the two of us........
KP: hmmmm, i hate to spoil your plans, but you better turn of the stove. i have a bussinessdinner tonight with people from a company that looks great for a takeover, and i need you with me.
QC: oh no, you can't be serious, not after a whole week of being away for bussiness......
KP: yes i am, and we are going to that new hot place downtown, so i want you to look your very best.
QC: damn you !!!
KP: don't forget to put on that necklace and bracelet i bought you last month......
down at the restaurant
KP: let's dance honey....
QC: you just wanna show off with me, looking pretty for your bussinessfriends, smooching them up.
KP: now, we are NOT going to fight here over this, let's DANCE
ordering dinner
KP: i will have the roastbeef and for my wife the same.....
QC: no, no i don't eat red meat, i'd rather have the smoked salmon....
KP: for my wife also the roastbeef, and a bottle of your best red wine.
QC: you know i don't drink !!!
KP: yes, you do tonight.....
later, home again
QC: you are such a selfrightious male chauvinist pig, the only thing you care about is you and your bussiness, i am nothing more to you than just an asset, a statussymbol, a doll you want to dress as you like and put jewelry on as a christmastree.
the one kid we have is not enough, as you want the average 2.5 and a dog and a big house, just for status.
sex is also just for your own pleasure, as long as you are satisfied.
i have had it with you, i am sick and tired of providing every one of your needs.....!!!!

Kaz: i don't know what you were worried about; that was great! no wonder I don't particularly like the King of Pentacles :)
Malachite: Glad you could join us! As you can probably tell, we're having a great time working thru this book.
Everybody: sorry I haven't written much recently. I've been helping a friend paint the house she's moving into, and haven't had much time for tarot study. But never fear, we're almost done, so I'll be back and better than ever in a few days!
