Have you ever made a decision or an action based on a Tarot reading? If so, does that mean you trusted the reading, and if so, why?

A reading has been considered a few times but I haven't made any decisions based on only the Tarot.

I have faith in synchronisity-- everything is connected. And I have yet to have a toss of the cards that didn't tell me something of value. It's the most effective mirror of my model of reality that I've yet to find.

Pragmatically, it's worked, so I use it...

Well, if u count readings of my own.
They´ve all more or less an impact in my daily life.
The cards make me feel stronger about how i already feel, they´re giving me the confidence to trust my own fealings and ACT after how i realy feel.
The cards are giving me clarity in the messy mind of mine...

I don´t know if it´s making any scense, but this is the basic of how the cards work for me.... :D

I voted for the first option...

Of course, it does depend on the kind of decision we're talking about. In one of the cases in which the decision was based solely on the cards picked - and it's an example I have given before - we had to decide whether to drive either of two cars to another town.

So turned out that the car we didn't take developed some problems when we returned, and would have been very inconvenient had we taken it.

I asked a friend for a reading, which was startlingly accurate. She also said that it would be best to do whatever I needed to do on a certain date. Now, I don't know if the outcome would have been the same on a different date, but I knew that the reading was accurate, and so I followed the advice. Actually, more than just once (q.v. the reading I had from Simone about a speeding ticket) I have trusted the reading.

I suppose though, to implicitly trust a reading, one must 'feel' that the reading was accurate, and the reader was genuinely touching across the void to the nub of the issue, and gained an understanding.

I take tarot readings the same way I take any advice; with a grain or ten of salt. I believe that tarot works through your subconscious, and while my subconscious is admittedly a lot more knowledgeable and powerful than my conscious mind, I still wouldn't give it complete and free rein over my life.

I had to vote Other, just because I couldn't think of a time I queried the tarot so directly. Use it more descriptively, like to shed more light if doing one thing or another, or shed light on a scenario in general.

Altho, come to think of it -- I did base my decision to return to my current sweetie on readings which kept showing him as an element in near future even tho we'd broken up. So I suppose I should've voted Yes after all!

Well, good thing I voted Other instead of the decisive No ;) since it's flexible.

I voted for #3.
Usually a reading doesn't directly tell me what to do but to point out things I may not have taken into account. I use it to give me new perspectives or to prepare for alternate outcomes. I would never base a decision only on Tarot. If I got a reading that was clearly counter a direction I was leaning or for which I was a little unclear I would either rephrase the question or pull clarifying cards.

I decided to learn tarot because in a tarot reading (the first I ever had, last January) I was told to do so. Never will I fully understand why it immediately become so important to me – it was something I had never thought I would do. But this reading just turned me upside down.

I chose number one.
I don't see what the point of reading tarot is if you're not going to take the cards seriously.

I quit my job based on what the cards said the future of the company would be.
Best decision I EVER made!
Just had lunch yesterday with some friends who stayed and they may not have jobs due to the whole company crumbling by the end of this summer.
So even a year later the reading I did last spring is still playing itself out and showing me what it all ment.
(So glad I wrote it all down and can refer back to it.)

I recently bought a new puppy.
I did personality readings on about 8 different puppies and picked him due to what the cards were telling me.
So far he is exactly what I wanted in personality and exactly what the cards indicated.

I LOVE my cards!

I voted yes. In fact I just did a reading this morning as to whether or not I should volunteer for a position that would involve teaching crafts to 5th-6th grade girls at my church. Not only did the reading clearly suggest that it would be a bad idea, but also that I was undervaluing my current position which is very strong and positive. It recommended that I change not my position but my perception of my position. A real eye opening reading whose advice I intend to follow.

And lol, lark! I chose my current cat using runes. In fact I named her Kano. She's one of the best pets I've ever had:-)

I voted #1, but it happened only once. A frien did a reading, and it was so accurate that I still can't beleive it. Following the reading I made changes that most people make in the course of a few years, I made them overnight. Never looked back.

First of all, thanks, Happiness, for trusting my reading! But I agree one has to feel it is accurate, and I felt it even if I didn't know what it was about, and you did...

I once took a big decision after a reading: I married... The reading said I would regret it if I didn't do it. The marriage was a disaster, but I have learned quite a lot of things during this time, so, after the hurt and anger are mostly gone, I can say that I don't regret it!

I have used my reading as a guide both pointing me in the right direction and affirming that the beginning of the direction I had taken was right for me.

I spent a great deal of time studying it, all my notes and the cards themselves, and although I immediately felt that the advice given in the reading was totally on target, I had no clue how to begin to do it. That has taken some time, but I'm in the right track. And it feels so right. It has enabled me to trust my intuition more and trust myself more - a very valuable lesson in itself.

I think readings just make clearer what you already know, and gives different views on situations that you might have overlooked. I tend to be more skepictal with other people's readings for me, but when it comes to my own for myself, well . . . there are three of us in this body, so they each have a say, and I usually take mine over theirs. :)

Oh, Zoso! Of course you do, and wisely so!

I voted yes because tarot backs up what my feelings are already, and if it doesn't, then I have a situation to study on my hands! But, not listening to your own voice and relying on others to tell you what to do, could develop into a problem.

I voted for choice #2. A few years ago, I had times when I was thinking about leaving my job. I would do a small spread and Temperance came up over and over again. I took it to mean act in moderation and don't do anything drastic. So I stayed with my job. When the Temperance angel did not appear in my job-related readings, that is when I left. My timing was great. I left when this company was at its peak and I got a nice chunk of change from my stock options. The value of stock in this company has since gone waaaay down. Also, I left just when I needed time to finish work on my Masters degree. My readings were not the only factor in my decisions but they helped me slow down when I needed to and act when the time was right.

Although I have voted for #3 I admit that I may take my readings more seriously at times.
I consider myself still a beginner but I do get some very insightful and correct readings at times, that just baffle me.
So, yes, I do think about the readings before I blindly take any decision or wait for any outcome, thus consider the reading strongly especially if it has some very strong tone - positive or negative- to it.

I have based major choices on readings that I have received in the past from other professional readers before i got into doing it myself. I've even moved 500 miles because the cards said to do it :) and why not the cards have no motives behind their advice unlike my relatives!

I voted #2 because I'm a hard headed woman and never take anyone's word for anything until I've had time to think and consider all the in's and out's, pro's and con's and generally go in circles to arrive to some sort of decision.

I do take the advice from reading seriously because I've seen the wisdom as well as the results too many times to count as mere coincidence...but being a hard headed independant soul, I'll never admit to making decisions based upon a reading.

I consider the cards in making a decision. For me, they are a tool.

I don't listen to anybody or anything blindly :D, so I can't see doing it with my cards.

Of course, now that I'm sitting here thinking about it, is it really possible to make a decision strictly by the cards? By the time we get our deck out to consult it, hasn't our brain already processed certain thoughts, ideas, or intuitions about the matter at hand?

Significant impact on a decision yes. Completely based a decision on a reading no.

I refer to the cards for guidance but I also refer to the advice of others and my own feelings.

Just call me sceptical shirl ... or mistrustful mythos:grin:. I voted 'I would never base a decision/action in any regard on a reading'. Mind you, I have never had a 'good' paid tarot reading face-to-face. By 'good', I mean one that was even remotely relevant. I don't count on-line readings because we always have recourse to books etc. when we do an on-line reading, if we are in doubt.

Maybe I have just been unlucky .. and I actually have had few face-to-face readings. The worst was a women who informed me that I worked entirely with men, and that my husband was having an affair. I actually worked entirely with women and I was not even in a relationship at the time. When I pointed out these minor little facts to her, she insisted that she was right and I was lying. I told her, with reasonable politeness that she was talking a load of *%@#&^#, and left, refusing to pay. She chased me down the street screechiing like a banshee.

My best was a women who told me I was going to India after I asked about my up-coming trip to ... yes ... you've got it ... India! I was also going to meet the Dalai Lama who was going to identify me as a bodhisattva. I didn't get within spitting distance of the Dalai Lama ... or in fact with two states, and me a bodhissatva? Give me a break!

Needless to say, I have been reluctant to pay for a reading since. Even my own readings are better, and they just aren't that great. I must point out, too, that I have only been to professional readers on the recommendation of others ... hmmm! and I thought I was gullible :bugeyed:, and yes, I guess I was, to rely on such gullible people.

mythos:)
