VENUS: Pentagram (animated)

Venus and the Pentagram

from Grand Lodge of British Columbia and the Yukon:

Plotting the apparent position of Venus in altitude and azimuth as observed from Uruk (Lat. 31°19'00") at the moment of sunrise for consecutive apparitions separated by intervals of 584 days, starting at sunrise, 06:12:07 am, March 23, 716BCE, during the reign of Tiglath-pileser III, near the times of greatest westward elongation of the planet (46.070° - 46.3620°). The Julian Period is noted. The moving light on the horizon is the sun as east is fixed and the seasons vary.

Venus and the Pentagram

The history of the use of the Pentagram clearly shows that this astronomical curiosity is not the source of its perceived occult value.

Not sure what this site is disproving. I always thought that the reason the Pentagram was associated with Venus is because Venus (apparently) traces a Pentagram in the sky - I just didn't know the details of how or when. That's exactly what this site showed.
Of course, other sources may say other things. But that's what I learned.

further on in the site, we find more, and the relationship
between Ishtar and Venus is discussed:

"Historically, it does not appear to be equated with Venus.
Venus is equated with the Sumarian goddess, Ishtar (Ishhara,
Irnini, Inanna) whose symbol is an eight or sixteen point star."
