View Full Version : Hematite
I went to a Psychic Fair the weekend. Walked in, looked around, bought a Hematite ring and THAT'S IT!
I aways get a reading done and spend some time but nope not this day. I put the ring on and ever since I've been so miserable I can't stand myself! LOL Hate when this happens.
I feel like I'm being surrounded by aggressive people and their BS. I think I bought the ring for a shield & maybe I know I didn't need a reading.
Will the Hematite ring help at all or should I not be wearing it?
Hematite is generally a grounding stone or used for protection and soothing an upset person. If anything it will help you calm, protected and anchored you in the world. Maybe try cleansing the ring and see if that helps.
I don't see a reason why you shouldn't be wearing it.

I have a hemetite braclet, I cleansed it before I ever put it on.
Wore it for 3 days.
And I was a total miserable, mean, sucidial, hateful witch. If I didn't feel like screaming and pulling everyone's hair out, I felt like crying and pulling out my own hair.
Couldn't stand myself.
It took me 3 days worth of wearing it before i realized it was the braclet.
So I cleansed it again, and tried once more.
Still to heavy a stone for me to wear.
I also have a Hemetite 'worry stone'.
I am able to carry in my pocket, and rub this stone, and it does soothe me.
don't know why the difference but there is.
I'm very sensitive and emotional, I can only figure that in it being in constant, skin contact that makes the difference.

Hi ros ~ I've never had hematite bum me out like that and it's a stone that I wear and work with quite a bit. I'm a Libra Sun, Aries Moon with Gemini rising though, so I could probably stand a lot of grounding!
I have a hematite ring, a couple of bracelets and frequently carry a lovely flat stone in my pocket - I also have a black tourmaline nugget pendant that I wear a LOT...I do notice that it is rather porous for absorbing negative energies, either my own or from other people and/or atmospheric conditions. I clear this stone more than any other I have. But I don't ever notice hematite hanging on to those types of energies - definitely draws them out, but for me it doesn't hang on to them.
Perhaps it was bouncing everything back onto you?
Just a thought, because I've found that despite all the metaphysical correspondences out there, everyone still tends to groove to their own rhythm with crystal energies...but maybe if you wanted to wear the ring for the purpose of shielding and protection, you might have a good response by choosing to balance it with something more harmoniously soothing - for some reason I'm thinking angelite or chalcedony might give you a nice comfy hug while still supporting your purpose for wearing the hematite.
Just a couple of thoughts, for what it's worth!
Blessings,
Sally Anne

It's true that not every stone works well with everybody. I can't stand azurite and it can't stand me, but I am sure there are others who get along with it just fine. If you and hematite don't seem to get along, it's no big deal. There are plenty of stones that can make fine substitutes for each other. Just my two cents.

I use hematite for sleeping. Can't imagine using it during the day--what a downer! :)
For sleep it's amazing. Holding it in the palm of my hand while I sleep is like turning myself into a tree (with, you know, ROOTS).

For me, hematite acts as a reflector of negative energy. I have a job in customer service, so it helps keep me from absorbing all the crud flung at me. My job also requires more of my mental power than I'd like, so it helps to have something solid and cool and heavy to handle when I feel like I'm going to shake apart.
It does seem to give roots, like a tree. One that's been there for a long time, like a huge, gnarled old oak. Yeah, ROOTS. Exactly.

I've found hematite to be a good grounder--no earth at all in my chart except mercury in Capricorn. (trudge trudge trudge) But I really like the idea of useing it for sleep--I'll try that for the next few nights and see if it works for me,
Like deep roots. Yum. Thanks, guys

The past couple of weeks my brain's been Insomnia Center. After having read Punchilla's success using this stone for sleep, thought I'd give it a try.
No go. Not only did I have as much trouble getting to sleep, when I did on occasion, my dreams were particularly edgy and unpleasant, like a very bad, grungy, film noir.
Someone mentioned mixing rose quartz and amythest for sleep, but I've not had a chance to try it yet.
Any other suggestions? I could sure use a good night's sleep. Make that a couple of weeks of good sleep.
I took my Hematite ring off!
I was miserable & had flu like symptoms.
I have a lot of earth in my charts so maybe it
could have been too much? Or maybe I just had the flu???

Red Emma, sometimes--if I'm already feeling 'down'--I opt not to use the hematite, & picture myself floating instead (which can be a welcome relief :) )
But in terms of the hypothesis which seems to be evolving here, re: hematite making up for missing earth in a person's natal chart, & otherwise being redundant, well . . . I'm a Virgo sun, Virgo ascendant & Capricorn moon & I still find hematite useful for sleeping :D
Red Emma, I wish I had more help to offer you (but don't . . .) Have you considered Diana's remedies? I haven't started yet but a bottle is in the mail for me & I'm feeling very optimistic about it--P.
I have carried a hematite stone in my pocket or purse for almost as long as I remember. I find it very grounding and soothing. I have given one to each one of my children and my S/O. I gave him his when he has heart surgery several years ago.
Ros it is quite possible it was just the flu. Try it again once your feeling better.
Red Emma try the amethyst for sleep. I have difficulty getting a good sleep and I find that helps me. I have two clusters on my bedstand (helped alot when I was working the overnight shift this summer).
My sister, (gentlest of women) used to tell her kids that she would rock them to sleep with a real rock......Me, I'd just glare at them and mutter "soup.." (:D)
It makes sense to me that floating would work for sleep, if grounding won't. I think the whole thing depends on what stills the chatter of your mind.
I mean, everyone else here has a mind that just won't shut up and let you sleep, right?

Punchinella and Magpie, thanks for the information. I do have tapes, supposed to relaxing, I listen to when I go to bed. They do help. In fact they help a lot. Trouble is I seem to be chronically tense, which I'm trying to learn to dissipate. If the stuff is worse than usual -- even those with 58th wedding anniversaries sometimes have major rows -- no go.
My only amethyst which is not in jewelry is a small globe my husband gave me one Christmas. But it's about 2 inches tall, and a bit large to go under my pillow. Or even hold in my hand. I may try it anyway. Majecote said something about putting it on the night stand. Okay, going to give it a try.
Thanks, guys.

I've been attending a class where there are a few people that are very sensitive to energy....with this said...
I have been wearing a very powerful Hematite necklace for it's protection properties. This has also given me a very heavy, agressive, blackish Aura that literally bounces people off of me...this is what I've been told. It's not only used for grounding. Anyway....maybe because it's such a "heavy" energy is why you are feeling like you do. Sometimes stones don't work with each individual and you might want to try something else.
That's interesting cos i've been ill, moody etc since wearing my hematite but i'm not sure if it actually the ring causing it as i have no earth element in my chart.
Perhaps i'm just moody :)

Try taking the ring off for a few days to see what happens and cleanse it at the same time....then recharge it. See what happens. Whether you have an Earth element or not...Hematite is a very heavy stone...very grounding for most everyone. Depending on the person is how the effects turn out. If you, as a person, does not take to the stone personally, you could have bad experiences from it such as depression/tiredness/moodiness.....it will have a negative reaction to the person that is wearing it if it doesn't match that person.

I had a Hematite ring. I loved it! But then...I lost it. I would love to get another...but...funds...(currently).
I took my Hematite ring off!

I think you just had the flu!
I bought a hematite ring under odd circumstances. I was out on a date with a guy who I had met at an SCA event. A very nice guy, really. But so inward. He had been looking at me the event with such adoration I kept turning around to see who he was looking at!
That was a promising start, but the date was a disaster. We could not connect on any level. We wondered around Lincoln Ave near Halsted in Chicago, at the time, a big bookstore/fun shop area. I went into a shop and found a hematite ring for $0.75 and it fit perfectly. I wore it the rest of the evening. We discussed psychic work a little, and he told me he had five planets in Scorpio including his Sun, Moon, and Rising sign.
The next day I went to the Psychic Fair I worked at and told them about it. "Hey, Guys! I dated a triple Scorpio last night!" Two of my friends shuddered so bad, they nearly fell out of their chairs. Another asked me what I was (Aquarian Sun and Rising, Taurus moon) "Do you know what they call a Scorpio/Aquarian alliance?" She asked. No, I said, what? "A death wish!"
I don't do astrology, but it was fairly close to type, the Scopio is attracted to the Aquarius (although it is, I gather, usually the other way around.) Any way, I do believe I bought that ring to guard against his (to me anyway) negative energy.

I think I need this! People are so quick to take advantage of me and I am sometimes unable to notice until it is too late. I need to give off a darker aura. And I am lots of Fire and Air...very little earth.
Did you purchase this online?
I have a hematite pebble - smooth and comfortable. It is invaluable when I have a headache or a pain somewhere, it seems to soothe it very quickly. I also like to hold it and feel it cool and heavy in my palm. So soothing and down-to-earth. I can almost feel myself down in the mines surrounded by ore :)

Thumbs up for hematite here I have a Hematite necklace and ring. I recently had to visit relatives who were less than kind spirited for almost a week. I feel there are protective qualities to hematite and I think it DID help me in this circumstance.
