.....3.....
1.........2
1 - What will you teach me?
2 - What do I need to do?
3 - What will our relationship be like?
Exactly what question should one ask to do his spread??
none, you should be concentrating on with bonding with the deck.

I'm not sure about question 2. To do in regards to what? I use what else do I need to know but that doesn't seem quite right either!
hugs
all78degrees.
you can read that as "what will you need from me?"
as this spread is focusing on your relation with the deck, it tells you what you need to put into it.

So this spread is for communicating with your deck? I like that thats cool. So im thinking that you only need to do this once... or at least not very often.

I use it only when I get a new deck, it's the first reading I do with it. It's part of my "ritual" to bond with the new deck.
I don't think I would repeat the reading and I also wouldn't use it with a deck that I've already used, that just doesn't feel right for me. But as usual, that's a personal thing... ;)

Excellent. I've used my deck twice, I think im going to try it out...
**************************************************
Ok im having a little trouble interperting this because Im not yet used to reversed card meanings.
I had
................Reversed eight of cups.................
.......reversed six of cups...........page of cups........
All cups... thats strange. I did shuffle the deck very well... I shuffled it many times. Im not sure how to put that either. something to do with love/life/hapiness?
*scratches back of head* Any ideas?

Ok, I'll give it a try, although I'm very new to reversals myself... ;)
I'd say the Eight of Cups reversed could stand for renewed hope and possibilities.
Six of Cups reversed could stand for letting go of the past.
The Page of Cups might be telling you to use your intuition.
So my interpretation would be that this new deck will offer you new opportunities, if you let go of the past and rely on your intuition when using the deck.
Does that make any sense?? ;)

Thanks tarot lady! That makes a lot of sense. Especially the part about letting go of my past. I just bought a book called learning the tarot by joan bunning... theres even a section on reversal ^.^
Well this will be my third deck - a Universal RW. I cracked it open took off the plastic and looked through it. When I got home I shuffled it again and did the new deck spread as mentioned previously in this thread. For what it's worth it made no sense to me whatsoever.
I think I'll post it in the your readings thread.

Woof, do you like your new Universal RW? It's always been my favorite for readings!!
So far I like it. I like the coloring of it very much and the back of the cards are beautiful. I think it will be my main deck for reading for friends as my other two are an Alchemical and an Aquarian I've had since high school (20+ years ago) that I just feel belongs to a different period of my life.
Still haven't worked with it much yet.
By the way I got great advice posting my new deck spread on the readings forum. (Thanks guys!)

I just got a new Victoria Regina deck and I was reading this thread so I shuffled and shuffled and then did the three card spread: 10 of Swords, King of Coins, Seven of Swords. I didn't shuffle for reversals. Now the interesting thing here is, when I went through the cards one by one with my wife, admiring them, I told her that my two favourites were the 7 and 10 of Swords. Hmmm. But other than that silver lining, I'm not sure what the deck is trying to tell me. Any thoughts? Perhaps I'll post this in the Readings forum.

1. It will teach you best through a complete abandoning of your expectations/perceptions around the deck.
2. Stay grounded and focused.
3. You'll learn new ways of thinking about tarot...not as clear on this one.
I realize this was eons ago...does the spread make any more sense now lawguy?
I will use it on my new Gilded Tarot Deck. It will arrive soon :)
Thanks for sharing :D

I love this idea. I've only had my Gilded deck (the one I choose to learn with) for about a week. I've only done a couple of readings, but haven't really started the study process. It feels ok to me to do this spread. I think this is a wonderful idea.
I'm going to post results here as I don't quite have access to the Reading board yet...I have the number of posts, but I guess it hasn't been switch on yet.
Ok...
What will you teach me? 7 Wands
What do I need to do? Justice
What will our relationship be like? Hermit
My ideas (please share yours..., PM if you wish)
Teaches me to defend my beliefs, this is something worth defending.
Need to not have any preconcived notions, need balance.
This will be a personal journey...shedding light on a new path, and help me to navigate it.
Thanks everyone,
SJ

I only bought this Rider-Waite deck (I have been using oracle for approx 6 mths)and I just did this spread and found it quite interesting and I especially like my 2nd card.
1-8 of cups
2-The Star
3-Knight of Wands
I am only just starting to use my intuition but too me this is a good start!!
