View Full Version : Calling all Geminis...

I have a question for you...

People under the sign of the twins are given the characteristic of having two minds or not making up their minds or something of that nature. (RE: light bulb: Doesn't need changing, yes it does, no it doesn't, etc.)

I don't see this with any of my friends or family members. I have four Geminis in my immediate family and none of them act that way. On the contrary, they are quick to make up their mind and NOTHING changes it once they're set.

So, is it true or not?

If you want to go w/the stereotype, Libras are likely to be more indecisive. Geminis are more easily distracted or jump from topic to topic.

Also, sun sign is not the be all, end all of a person's chart. There are 9 other planets to consider :)

I agree with everything isthmus said. Just because a person has two minds doesn't mean they are opposed -- they could just arrive at the same conclusion twice as fast!

Geminis are the thinkers of the zodiac. Two heads are better than one.

Keep in mind the rising and lunar degrees, being a gemini wth a rising virgo I don't talk outloud that much, but I am duly ruled by Mercury. I ofter wonder if when Gemini's express more of their planetary characteristics it comes across as so total and intense that the Gemini is not aware of what part of his or her personality they are expressing. IF their moon or rising is in Gemini as well as their sun, then the differences in the personality facets woudl be simliar, but if the rising or lunar is say Aquarius moon and Taurus rising, then the Gemini might think off (way off) the beaten track but present themselves as more grounded then the truth of the matter (While all signs are notorious of the lie, Gemini's get the worst rap because they are associated with communciation, some Gemini's won't breathe a word of a secret, in fact they might even tell you who has been telling that annoying "the little whitle lie.")

but our birthdays are a day and some years apart. I'm a Libra Moon, his tendencies sometimes point to his Virgo Moon.

We have similar regards for family tendencies and share similiar values, even though culturally we are from different areas. Nothing is specifically set in stone, but we do have this tendency toward equilibrium.

But could be that I have a tendency toward equilibrium and he is usually agreeable to that--because it seems to make sence to both of us.

Or all four of us?

I've noticed Gemini is one of the most friendly/sociable of the signs, always have a good word of advice to give.. Libras are pretty sociable as well... At least from the people I know.. The Geminis I know are also very energetic and on the contrary I think they are quick to make up their minds.
I've heard that Geminis have double personality, like Marylin Monroe who was one.. Don't know if that's true.

Just jumping in to say...

I'm currently reading The Inner Sky by Steven Forrest, which is recommended in the study threads here. He argues that proscriptive (sp?) use of astrology, i.e. you're a gemini so you are x, y, z and you will always be x, y, z, can be accurate and good if you're just looking to flex your astrological muscles but it's not very helpful. He describes signs as "evolutionary methods, ways of growing". This means that each sign presents a challenge almost. I haven't fully grasped this yet because I'm only about a fifth of the way through the book, but it sounds plausible. It offers a way that we can actually put our astrological makeup to good use instead of just using it as a static portrait of ourselves.

So the reason I'm mentioning it here is because it's a book that helps us get away from the dead-end thinking that this person is a leo so they are/must be like this. I'm sure others can explain it much better than I can though :)

I have gemini rising, and I think that outwardly at least I do present several of the stereotypical characteristics of the geminis: but that covers the very different (though equally dual) fish underneath (I have the sun and two personal planets plus Chiron in Pisces). It covers also a strong Scorpio Mars, Aries Venus and Sagittarius moon...

So superficially people might think - "gemini" - but that wouldn't get them very far...

I agree stereotypes don't really tell us much about the person. People might be just as baffled to find out I am pisces, imagining someone shy and indecisive.

12-06-2005, 18:23
That's funny, I have never heard that Gemini's were indecisive, I have always heard that they are good (and fast) thinkers. The Libras were the indecisive ones (and good charisma might I add). I'm not a Libra for the record.

900th post!!!

I'm a Gemini. If there's one thing that people have often said about me, it's that I'm a mental leapfrog, jumping from subject to subject. Fits the bill?

13-06-2005, 12:48
Yes that does, and Since Gemini is a spring zodiac sign, two frogs a ribbeting is as good as any. And happy birthday to all Gemini's.

My North Node is Gemini. From what I gather this go around the wheel I am to learn to communicate with my fellow human beings! I guess a forum is a good place to learn these skills. I also am the current President of a Toastmasters club (or will be starting July 1st).

I am fairly good at seeing both sides of an issue and I have caught myself more than once still debating long after it was time to make a decision. I think this comes more from my Libra ascendant though.

I have met one Gemini (sun sign) who really did bounce back and forth between over acceptance and intolerance. Maybe under-evolved Geminis fall to this proclivity, kinda like the grey lizard / eagle dynamic of the Scorpion.

My son just turned 23 today and is very Gemini. He's very sweet, freindly, outgoing and quick to defend or protect someone, a heroic type. But he's also very dark, reflective, easily depressed, a bit explosive and very mercurial in the changing of his moods and mind. He didn't finish high school because his mind goes in so many directions that he would lose his concentration, but he's extremely bright. His IQ is 130 or something like that, so it's an incredible shame that he feels he's dumb because school was a pain for him. His initials are ironically MRC, wasn't thinking at the time we named him, how close to an abbreviation of Mercury that is. He is all that and much more, shiny, bright and hard to hold.

I made a shirt for his birthday, I hope he finds it funny...

This IS my good side...
you must be thinking of my

Hi Wales!

I didn't finish high school either, I only missed by a couple dozen credits! I did get my G.E.D. the following Fall at a community college. I share this with you because the format for studying for the GED (at least 20 years ago) was much more concise and easy for me to understand. I also scored very high on the GED which did much to ease my concern about my intellectual capabilities.

I'm 40 now and just finishing up my bachelors degrees (dbl major CIS/Business Ad). You might sugget to your son he go by a community college and ask about getting a GED (don't push though or you'll turn him off!) If the college is any good there will probably be some very nice and professional people who will treat him with respect and courtesy.

just a suggestion

I love your signature!

I am a double gemini, meaning both sun and moon in the sign of the twins -- and let me tell you... it can be a blessing and a curse!!! I am ALWAYS of two-minds on everything, to whom I desire, to what I want to do each moment, etc., etc. I have been accused of being flighty, indecisive, changeable, etc. -- all things I agree with. However, my dual nature has also provoked being labeled a "pathological liar" at one point in my life. I try to live as honestly as possible, so it was quite a surprise to get this response to my actions/words... but in hindsight I can see how my ever-changing ways may be confusing to the extreme to other. Although the people who said this were BOTH geminis! Go figure. heh heh.

As for my parent, I have driven them nuts throughout the course of my life... now, however, they have come to terms with their gemini daughter, calling me their "butterfly"... a "label" I can live with.

Another factor some astrologers consider is the positions of "progressed" planets or luminaries, particularly the sun, moon, and ascendant. (I will not try to explain what "progressed" means here -- it may already be posted somewhere in this forum and is certainly available through a web search).

When this method is used, you can see how layers are added to your personality as you age. This can sometimes be revealing.

Well, I have Moon in Gemini (squared Sun in Virgo, yikes!)

Anyway, Gemini is not about duality/dichotomy/balance, etc... that is much more the realm of Libra, as others have stated. The symbology of the Twins is not about two minds/split mind/what have you, but rather it symbolizes the constant *dialogue* that goes on. The Twins are fascinated with each other, endlessly, and never tire of learning more and more about one another, how they differ, how they are alike, and they never tire of discussing the world around them.

Does this often lead to indecison? Oh yes, but not because of a polarization, but simply because there is so much information to consider!

I am a textbook case Gemini, and I'm really proud of that fact too. I can't make my mind up and jump from topic to topic and easliy distracted.

My bf is a Gemini...and god, he drives me nuts sometimes, its like talking with Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde....I never know where he stands on an issue sometimes.

Those of you who like a more psychological bent, may want to peruse the articles relating to Gemini and the 3rd house here:

Usually I am very wary of the unholy marriage between psychobabble and astrobabble, but these articles are alright.

I actually really enjoyed that article, it was very insightful.

A couple of my friends are gemini's. They can be the life of a party, knowing and bouncing around to everyone. But if I tell them to come to a party, they won't - instead they come at a later time usually with 20 people in tow or if they think it will be boring - they won't come at all!

I've found to make a gemini disappear - breathe one word - 'responsibility' or obligation - they won't do it unless it's their idea, and doing their own thing.

I also have Jupiter in Gemini, not only do I jump around from topic to topic, but everything I learn must have a spiritual and/or symbolic bounce to it.

I would have to say that I do tend to change my mind a lot when making any decisions, a trait that my partner finds very annoying. I would not say I was indecisive though...... ha ha ha......I would say that each time I changed my mind I was very decisive about it. In fact very firmly convicted that the change of mind was completely necessary. Maybe it is because as a gemini I can think of things from so many different perspectives and my multiple personalities can be happy about each of them.

By the way. a hint for partners of geminis.....my partner has learnt to take all plans I make with a grain of salt because he knows they will inevitably change more than a few times before they come into fruition.

My son has a gemini ascendant and husband has a libra ascendant; by sun signs my husband is a libran and son is a cusp btween taurus and gemini. Now the gemini man makes up his mind very fast and doesnt doesnt ever ever change it!! the libra man never never can make up his mind....hope that throws some light on your questions.

LOL, calligirl! This thread really cracked me up...I appreciate everyone's input and descriptions of selves and others who have a Gemini Sun. My spouse of 8 + years is a Gemini and I still do not understand him!!!! It was very difficult when we first got together as I am a Leo Sun who had never dealt closely with a Gemini before...let alone tried to live with one! :) He seems to fit the descriptions everyone has given in one way or another! Guess that is the "Twin thing". I do believe that the other planets have great affect on the personality of a Gemini and that Gemini's are quite unique in their ability to 'double wammy' others with seemingly opposing viewpoints.

I often would like to tape record my spouse as he never seems to remember that one day he told me he liked or disliked a certain thing, only to say just the opposite the next day!!! (or the next minute, even!) The only problem with that is...even if I presented him with a taped conversation of himself, he would just simply shrugged it off and say, "oh, but that was James doing the talking...not me"!

You Gemini's are quite confusing to others, but you seem to be quite content with yourselves...which in the end, is the only thing that matters! :) From a Leo perspective, you just gotta have respect and appreciation for that!

I am a gemini with a libra ascendant and sagiturius moon.
I change my mind alot when trying to make a decision. Yet sometimes
I do make quick decision. It depends on my mood. I like to flit around
doing one thing than change my mind and do something else. I am now reading
three books at the same time or I will be reading a book and watching tv at the
same time. I am moody, depending on which of my twins are out at that time.
My husband is a gemini too, but his birthday is on the cusp with cancer.
He is more calmer and steadier than I am. He grounds me, when I need to be grounded.
