I use this "order" for my Tarot
correlations with the planets:

MOON 2 The High Priestess
VENUS 3 The Empress
MARS 4 The Emperor
MERCURY 11 Strength
SUN 17 The Star
JUPITER 20 Judgement
SATURN -- The Fool

Though the Thoth (and clones)
sees things slightly differntly:

Mercury 1 The Magician
Moon 2 The High Priestess
Venus 3 The Empress
Jupiter 10 The Wheel of Fortune
Mars 16 The Tower
Sun 19 The Sun
Saturn 21 The World

That might be becasue of the discorvery of recent planets (uranus, neptune, pluto) and how they associate into the tarots symbolism.

I have seen Uranus associated as the fool (personal journeys), neptune as the hanged man(hanging on to spiritual belief), and judgment as pluto (bringing forth transformation.).

I once tried making the modern planets work where they
have been substituted in the Golden Dawn numbering,
and I understand how they may be seen to apply:

0 (Uranus) The Fool (substituted for AIR - Aleph)
12 (Neptune) The Hanged Man (substituted for WATER - Mem)
20 (Pluto) Judgement (substituted for FIRE - Shin)

*

But Aleph Mem Shin form the Triadic Unity in Tarot:

1 The Magician - Aleph
13 Death - Mem
21 The World - Shin

The 3-in-1 and 1-in-3 mystery of this is lost otherwise.
What "unity" is there in The Fool, Hanged Man, and
Judgement... after all, Tarot is about the elements. :)

Fulgour, thanks for sharing your system of planetary correlations. If you don't mind me asking, how do you divvy up the signs w/the cards?

There are 5,040 ways, mathematically, to put any 7 things in order:

1 x 1 = 1
2 x 1 = 2
3 x 2 = 6
4 x 6 = 24
5 x 24 = 120
6 x 120 = 720
7 x 720 = 5,040

No traditional text exists to say what order the Planets appear in the
alphabet ~ so think for yourself which planet may (should) go where.

:) You decide.

PS: If using 10 Planets there are 3,628,800 possible arrangements.

Ah, thanks for sharing your system, it makes a lot of sense.

1=0 was done to facilitate "Magical Kabbalah" and not Tarot.
Here is a simple guide to changes done just to the 12 Signs:

1 = 0
2 = 1
3 = 2
4 = 3
5 = 4 The Emperor was changed to Aires
6 = 5 The Hierophant was changed to Taurus
7 = 6 The Lovers was changed to Gemini
8 = 7 The Chariot was changed to Cancer
9 = 8 Justice (Strength) was changed to Leo
10=9 The Hermit was changed to Virgo
11=10
12=11 Strength (Justice) was changed to Libra
13=12
14=13 Death was changed to Scorpio
15=14 Temperance was changed to Sagittarius
16=15 The Devil was changed to Capricorn
17=16
18=17 The Star was changed to Aquarius
19=18 The Moon was changed to Pisces
20=19
21=20
22=21

This is the system I first learned, and see most often.
My view is more to investigate it rather than disagree
as to whether or not it works. Tarot pays scant heed
when coming forward with answers. It will provide us.
