Ultimate Aces

Fulgour

I was asked why I thought the 10 of Pentacles was the
"last" card in the deck, and it seems to me it is not like
it is last~ but rather it is just "there" in a Tarot fashion.

*

Tarot seldom fits a system, and I believe it's because
it is not supposed to. If it were "systematic" it would
be just like a regular inventory of items. Predictable.

Part of the magic of Tarot is that it does not allow a
logical configuration of the Majors or Minors, in being
more of an organic combination, like a living creation.

There is Spirit in Tarot ~ without much Mathematics.

*

And so I believe, on my own,
without provable expertise:

The Major Arcana is circular, so beginning where it ends.

Aces are more than Ones to me, they have a 'Wondrous'
beauty... like being in a place, rather than a picture of it.

The Court Cards follow the Zodiac in a very natural way,
and like the triplicities, the elemental signs, flow onward.
Cardinal initiates, Fixed is there rigidly, Mutable is flexible.

And finally, the "numbers" do not "increase" with quantity,
but have a "quality" that emanates from the ultimate Ace.

I've posted this in the Rider-Waite-Smith Study Group Forum
because that is the deck that I'm referring to most with this,
although as I said, my expertise is simply a point of view. :)

Somewhere I wish I had this kind of affinity to numbers as you and others seem to have.
But I have not.
So I read the thoughts you and other have on this and am astonished, but cannot contribute.
But I read and make big eyes when reading :)

Best regards

Aces... more than just number 1

I'm slightly reminded of the rummy card game I play with my family. In it, the Aces aren't just the number 1 before 2, but they are also the supreme card after the King (like in poker). Not only that, but an Ace card can link a King to the 2 card.

Makes sense I guess, since the Ace in Tarot is supposed to hold the essence of the suit.

notes (and thanks!)

An Ace is "higher" than a Court Card because it is
the ultimate representative of the given element,
just one of those illogical things about Tarot logic.

As for Queens ranking above Kings, this to me was
something I found myself thinking before I knew it,
but my wife explained it was because Cardinal signs
are before Fixed signs in the order of the Zodiac. :)

I have always made the Aces important in my readings when they come up they arelike the essence of the suit. Bigger then the numbered and court cards which are facets or elements of the suit the Ace of the suit is like the whole suit wrapped up in one card.
