Hi, Gang!
gregory said she missed the last time I posted in the "Advertisements" section of the forums, and that I should be sure to post LOUDLY this time. So imagine I'm standing with a megaphone for this one. ;)
You may have already read somewhere around the forums (I'm not sure where all it might have come up, but I'm fairly sure that I mentioned it in a post at least once, at any rate) the U.S. Games "Londa Tarot" is officially out-of-print. Relegated to the same limbo as the much lamented Dowson "Hermetic Tarot." Here's a couple of links to some sample scans, if there's anyone out there who's not familiar with the deck:
http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/londa/
http://www.tarotgarden.com/database/dbsearchengine.php?view_title=londa+tarot
Now, the Londa Tarot isn't everyone's cup of tea, I rather imagine. It's not symbolically "deep," in the way that we view the "classics" (RW, Thoth, Marseille, etc.). But it's always been a personal favorite of mine, as I have a particular fondness for "character-driven" decks -- and this still remains one of the best examples of such decks, IMO. It's also got a bit of a "goth-y" style to it, for those who enjoy that flavor in their decks. Another reason I really like this deck is because I have some very fond memories of an experience rooted in the Londa, which are posted here (http://www.tarotgarden.com/library/articles/costumearticle.html) and discussed on the forums here (http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=8176).
Anyway, getting to the point: recently, when I was placing a restock order with USG, I lamented to our sales rep that the Londa tarot was gone for good. After reaffirming, yes, the Londa is no more, I got a pause and then a "wait a minute, let me check something..."
As it turns out, there were a number of Londa decks that were stacked up WITHOUT boxes and therefore never sold. But perfectly good decks nonetheless -- new and crisp and sealed, albeit boxless.
And now, to finally "cut to the chase:" We got 'em. At a small discount, even, because of the lack of boxes. So it's time to find good homes for them, with folks who didn't get ahold of one before they went OOP (or for folks who want a spare, or maybe even to "hold" for the collectors' market, although I don't know if I'd bet on the Londa reaching very high prices in the short-term or even the long-term, since it WAS available on the worldwide massmarket for 8 years...).
So, if you want one, just send me an email or a PM. I'll hold back about 2 dozen copies for AT members, at US$ 15 + shipping (original retail was US$ 18). I may throw a few up on eBay at US$ 16 (the extra buck to cover those ever-outrageously-increasing eBay fees), if anyone prefers that route. But as we accept pretty much all manner of payment, and have a secure webpage even for credit card info transmittal (which I'll send to anyone who needs it), I'm not sure there's any advantage to buying via eBay unless you want the radiantly-glowing positive comment in your feedback profile.
The offer is good until 31 October, or whenever we sell out of the AT supply, whichever comes first. If there are any questions about this offer, please feel free to PM me or post to this thread.
