Hi, matchyg!

Yes, I would definitely like to participate in a study group.
My particular interest is with the angel deck; it's the one
I use now. I prefer the angels, but there was a time when
I did really enjoy the fairy deck, and I still recall the cards
pretty well.

Hopefully, we can somehow integrate both decks. Consider
the added dimension of comparing and contrasting the two
decks...wouldn't it be interesting?

(I also gifted my fairy deck, MCsea...maybe we're supposed
to give decks away sometimes. We're all chosen, at one
time or another, to send a deck to the person who needs it
the most. ;) )

Perhaps we should just start a thread here, to see if others
pick up on it...hopefully it'll grow into an active group and
then we can move it.

I have 4 of Doreen Virtue's decks:

Goddess Guidance Oracle Cards
Healing with the Angels
Healing with the Fairies
Magical Mermaids & Dolphins

I haven't really worked with any of them very much. :rolleyes: But of course would be a great excuse to get them out! :)

Just throwing out an idea here... but could we perhaps have a Virtue Study Group, which could in time incorporate all her decks, the fact that they are meant to compliment one another in readings. We could perhaps start with the decks that we have between us, e.g. Healing with the Angels and Healing with the Fairies, but others could be added at a later date, if others were interested. My thoughts here were that this would allow anyone with any of Doreen's decks to join in, particularly if we did some reading exchanges. Not sure, if that would work... but of course just an idea, so I don't know how other's might feel about this?

I've not been part of a study group before, so don't know how we go about setting all this up. But as in other groups, I guess we could start by listing each of the decks as main headings - then perhaps go through the decks alphabetically too and write our thoughts on each of the cards. I don't mind doing the index and updating, if someone explains to me where I've got to post it exactly... logic tells me in the study group section? Perhaps we can discuss some further ideas of how we are going to do this exactly - i.e. what decks etc... so that we all know what we are doing.

I'll list the decks, as they are shown on her site - if you click on the "(See the card layout)" under each heading, you can see the positions and meanings of each card in a spread.

I favor the Healing With The Angels Oracle.
That's the only one I have.

How did you acquire your deck(s)?
My mom gifted me with a Spanish version of the deck five years ago.
Then, I wanted to double it for more interesting readings, so I purchased another one for myself (this time in English). An unidentified friend gifted me with an Archangel Michael card, also around that same time (I still don't know who that was).
A few years ago, I picked up an orphaned angel deck in a bargain bin; I used some of the cards in a counseling class as gifts. I still had all my favorite cards, 19 of them, so I added them to my "double deck" of angels.
I now use a deck of 108 cards... :bugeyed: :laugh:

How do you use your cards?
I do readings for anyone and everyone with my angel deck.

What is your most favorite card out of all the decks?
It changes for me at times, but one that I continually find to be beautiful and soothing is Harmony. The Archangel Michael is also a perennial favorite.

What is your least favorable/understood card?
Hmmm...I'll have to think about that one.

I like most of the cards from "magical unicornS" Favorite being - "U r gifted" i use to keep getting that card.. and it always lifts my spirit!!

because the yboth look like girls and I would have liked to see one of each, boy/girl. They just look to Victorian.

To be honest I have not done much wit hthis deck as yet so I am open wit hwhat to use it for presently. I'm comforted knowing I have my own pocket full of Angels at any given time. I guess its a "security" blanket kind of thing for me. For when I feel low.

I bought them from a book shop. Got the decks with great difficulty.. Actually it is a miracle....

I combine both the decks and use a few spreads. Both these decks compliment each other really well. Sometimes i remove 3 cards and do a general advice reading for my sister and myself.

All the cards are beautiful. i love the "Nature" card and the "Divine Guidance" card in Healing with the Angels deck.

hmmmmm... None...I love all of them...

I read Doreen's book "Healing with the Fairies" and found out about the decks.

I usually do a daily draw. I will do spreads when I have something specific for myself I want answered or if I'm reading for someone else. I read for myself and others.

Soulmate--its adorable. Just love the artwork on that one.

What is your least favorable/understood card?
Hmmm...its not one of the Fairies ones thats for sure...would probably be most of the ones in the Messages from your Angels. I just don't click with that one *at all.*

What else is important to you regarding discussion of these decks?
Just about everything...stories about using them...what some of the other decks are like --esp. Mermaids & Dolphins. How does that one differ from the others?

rash, mine are just in their boxes. But what I do is prop them. I lay the top of the box down first with the LWB. Into that I angle the bottom of the box with the cards and on top of the cards I put crystals/stones or feathers --whatver I want to "feed" my deck. It is working very well.

I find this one hard to answer as they are all so lovely. I have ordered the new deck saints and angels and just waiting for it to be delivered. I work quite alot with the Messages from your Angels.

How did you acquire your deck(s)?

I bought them either from the Holistic shop or from Amazon

How do you use your cards?

I use them to give people readings on forums, by email and in Spirtual Cicrle. I give readings to myself and use them in meditation in groups and by myself.

with the Fairy deck and mermaid and dolphin deck, I use these decks togther and find they mix well. Using the fairy card for the basis and the mermaid/dolphin deck to look in more detail at the reading.

The Arch Angel cards mix well with the Healing with Angel Cards. The Goddess Guidance I use mainly for myself.

What is your most favorite card out of all the decks?

Isis Card in the Goddess deck, past lives facinate me.

What is your least favorable/understood card?

Couldnt think of one

Hi, rash...
My angels live in a zippered velvet bag; it's a rich dark blue with a gold embroidered and beaded design on one side. I also put a little gold angel charm on the zipper-pull. It's quite a sturdy bag, well suited to my rather substantial angel deck.
I keep a cloth in the bag with the cards, too. It is a sheer, dark blue square of cloth with a pattern of little gold angels and stars all over it.
The angels picked out everything--the bag, cloth, everything. It all came to me in such perfect, "coincidental" circumstances that it just had to be angels at work. ;)

Usually they call!! I am drawn to a deck, and I usually do a one card draw - or a three card spread. It is usually about personal issues or, if not, its in conjunction with a Tarot reading, or Oracle reading.

I use them to pass on messages. If Im reading for someone else and the client is 'burdened' in someway, I find that these cards 'go and hold, or hug the client' - they offer 'support' around the issues they are dealing with.

What is your most favorite card out of all the decks?
I have to choose! LOL!! :P Well I went throught the decks and todays favourite cards are all from Healing with the Angels.

Im not sure i have one, but sometimes I dont feel connected to the way in which sometimes the style of drawings/photos arent uniform in the deck.

I guess, to broaden the interpretation of the card - to expand on the meaning. o hear how others have interpreted them and aligned the cards to different questions - or different situations.
What other Decks or Oracles or methods people like to use the cards with.

My decks are usually kept in their boxes. I will eventually make bags for each of them, but I haven't chosen the material and beads yet! I'll wait until Im inspired by something and then I'll buy it specifically for the deck.

I was just wondering whether anyone uses reading cloths or silks when they do their angel card readings?

I have been getting inaccurate readings lately. I was wondering if anyone can offer me some advice.
yes, matchyg...i use a cloth with my angel deck, for when i'm using the cards in a less-than-ideal environment (table at a greasy diner, picnic bench in a park, etc.).
When it comes to cloths, i go for washable versus pretty. Form definitely follows function, because it's supposed to get dirty, instead of my cards getting dirty.
However, the cloth i use for my angel deck is actually very pretty, and it has an angel pattern on it...and i can wash it if it gets dirty, LOL! :thumbsup:

Oops, almost missed your last comment...

When that happens to me, I take it as a sign that I need to let my cards rest. I like to have a completely different deck available for those occasions.
It helps if it's a totally different theme, art style and color scheme; it might even be a whole different system, like i ching cards or an affirmation deck.

Sometimes, I've even put the cards away altogether, and turned to something completely different, like runes or dice. On other occasions, I've simply focused on a particular subject in one of my tarot books, without turning to the cards.

Another consideration is that it may just be a bit of overload, and that may require a rest of the brain; letting another hobby or leisure activity into your head often remedies that.

Hello guys, this is a cozy group :) I haven't done much reading with these cards, but I am definitely joining into this group discussion. I'm not sure what I could input into the group, but hey I suppose we all here to learn :D

I only got the Healing with Angels. Anyway I love the pictures/colours of these cards!

How did you acquire your deck(s)?
I brought them off the bookshop! They were my first cards I purchased when my interest in tarot reading initiated

Sometimes I take one card from this pack and incorporate into tarot reading as "messages from angels". It just nice to feel that energy in a reading :)

Hmm honestly don't know all the cards well, so no fav card at this time.

Gaining deeper understanding how to do readings with these decks and being able to put the cards together. I would like to develop my intution, this is one of the reasons for learning tarot :)

Let's please try to keep the Virtue deck spreads

regarding our group; that's how we can be sure

I would love to join this study group. So far I only have Healing with the Angels and Healing with the Fairies. I plan to get the Archangels deck, the Unicorns and possibly Goddesses. I'm looking forward to getting my horse-mad six year old niece the Unicorns deck for Christmas :D

Of the two that I have my favorite is the Healing with the Angels deck. I like that some of the art is older. There are so many details in the cards, like certain flowers and plants.

How did you acquire your deck(s)?
After reading a couple of DV's books, traded two decks with another ATer for Healing with the Angels and Healing with the Fairies. This was just a few months ago. The Virtue oracles are not the kind of thing I ever thought I'd like! But I do like them, so there.

How do you use your cards?
Usually a three card reading, or just one card as a kind of "companion" for the day, thinking of the angel on that card going with me throughout the day. I've done a few readings using the two oracles together, they complement each other well!

What is your most favorite card out of all the decks?
Well, my faves change all the time but I like the Serenity card quite a bit. The Blessings card is not my favorite card art-wise but I love the way it turns up in my readings at just the right time. Kindness is lovely in the fairies deck. It is so hard to pick just one. These cards evoke feelings, which is what I like about them.

What is your least favorable/understood card?
There are a couple of cards in the Fairies deck that I can't stand the art! These tend not to come up in readings though. I won't say which ones as they might be someone else's favorites. :)

What else is important to you regarding discussion of these decks?
How to read beyond the meaning printed on the cards. I like to read the cards visually, looking at the details and interpreting them. I also see most of them as having a continuum of meaning from negative to positive. But then I sometimes wonder if I am doing the querant a disservice by bringing in some of that. Would like to find out how other readers expand the meanings while remaining accurate. Also, would like to practice more!!

My suggestion is the card Intention from the Healing w/the Angels deck.

However, I'd also like to know if the other decks have a card or cards that mean the same thing, or have the same influence in a spread, or any other comparisons that we can come up with.

That way, everyone can participate, even if they don't have the deck.

What Doreen Virtue deck(s) do you favor? I really love them all, but i find the mermaids and dolphins the most accurate. the healing with the fairies is also really accurate. there all great and accurate i just find these two to be the most accurate. but i can't say one is better then another.

How do you use your cards? think of question , shuffle. i find it most accurate when i ask for extra angels
What is your most favorite card out of all the decks? in saints and angels the " heaven is watching over you" is the most delightful. it has an angel kissing a little kid. so cute and angelic.
What is your least favorable/understood card?message from your angels, children card or the marriage card because its too specific.
What else is important to you regarding discussion of these decks?
i want to know other people's spread ideas.

Great idea to start with the Intention card! I think there is a card in the Archangel Oracle that has Archangel Michael on it and is about "crystal clear intentions". If we pick a card from a different deck each time than people who don't have all the decks will not feel left out.

edited to add: On the other hand, choosing a card from a different deck each time could get confusing.

My suggestion is the card Intention from the Healing w/the Angels deck.

However, I'd also like to know if the other decks have a card or cards that mean the same thing, or have the same influence in a spread, or any other comparisons that we can come up with.

That way, everyone can participate, even if they don't have the deck.

I ordered it from Amazon after spotting it on Aeclectic, the pictures reminded me of an old Unicorn calendar I cut up to cover my room with when I was younger!

3. How do you use your cards?
I draw one card when I feel I need a little boost from a positive reading!

4. What is your most favorite card out of all the decks?
*goes to look* That was a toughie! But I believe my favourite to be "You are Gifted"

5. What is your least favorable/understood card?
"Talk about Your Feelings". It looks like a horse with a horn stuck on it. Unicorns are ascended white horses, therefore they are white, not brown as this picture depicts.

6. What else is important to you regarding discussion of these decks?
I barely know this deck, and would love others to use it with. The Faeries Oracle study group has helped me immensly, and I would like the same for this deck :)

Perhaps we should do "sub-groups" regarding each deck...? I think we're already leaning that way, which makes sense.

However, I think we can keep the "spreads" thread general and open to all decks, especially when many here have more than one Virtue deck. We should also keep this current thread open, so as people choose to join, they can introduce themselves; also, it's a place where everyone can post general questions. Just my suggestion, especially with the group index in mind.

I'll wait to see what you all agree on, then I'll start building an index accordingly.

That makes perfect sense! I will enjoy reading the threads on the Unicorns deck even though I don't have it.

These decks are special and not like other decks. As well as looking carefuly at the details in each card, as we do in other study groups, maybe participants would be interested in taking a moment with each card to really tune in to the angels (or unicorns, fairies, etc) and ask what each one has to tell them (people might not want to post this stuff as messages could be personal.) I thought at first that this method of reading wouldn't work for me but was very surprised that it did! Some people in the group probably read this way anyway...

Not all the decks are listed, so please go ahead and start a thread for a deck that you don't see in the index. As soon as I see new threads to include, I'll be sure to put them in the index.
Please be sure to include "Discussion" somewhere in the thread title. That's just to keep all of the individual deck threads uniform and distinguishable from older threads.
Please tell me if anything needs to be changed or added...

How did you acquire your deck(s)?
Healing with the Fairies was my first Doreen Virtue deck. I went with a friend to Fremantle, Western Australia, and I asked her to recommend another tarot deck, as the Radiant Rider-Waite was my only one at the time, I felt it was time to get a new deck.

After using Healing with the Fairies deck, and I fell in love with it. One time, while I went to the local department store, BigW, I was looking at some books, and I notices that they sold a lot of Doreen Virtue's books and some of the decks. I went through a craze, where I used to buy a new deck on a regular basis. I found that they sold them there before Christmas, and at the same time as buying a book for my brother, I bought my second deck. The l ast time I bought a deck, there were two that I looked at, couldn't decide which one to get, so I got them both

How do you use your cards?
I prefer to do readings for others. I went through a stage where I did readings for myself, for somethign to post in the subscription competition thread. Although I do like oracle cards, I tend to prefer the tarot decks, as I like to use spreads. As a general rule, I don't do daily draws with either oracle or tarot

What is your most favorite card out of all the decks?
Mystique from Messages from your Angels
"Keep charging ahead, and don't take no for an answer. Expect miraculous solutions to appear"

The reason I like this card is because it says that you are on the right path and not to compromise with others. Try to explain the path that you are on and not to defend your actions. The card itself depicts a horse that is coming out of the darkness into the light. This is a representation of what is happening for who the reading is for

What is your least favorable/understood card?
Family Harmony from Healing with the Fairires
Affirmation: I see the goodness within each member of my family. My family life is harmonious and filled with love and joy

I understand the card, but at the same time how much I try to do what this says, it makes no difference, if anythings seems to make things worse for me

What else is important to you regarding discussion of these decks?
Since there are separate threads made up for each of the decks, it would be nice to make it a bit more structured, to a certain degree. I have started doing it, and I think it would be good for all of those involved is to take time out to study one card at time, make their own notes on the card and post their findings, like what their impressions they have, pretty similar to the 78 weeks in the tarot study groups section

I saw it in KMart and thought what an interesting deck so I bought it - at the time I was feeling really connected to my angels.

Recently I just shuffled and turned a card over and kept going until I felt the need to stop... all up I turned 7 cards over. However most times I use a past, present and future spread.

What is your most favorite card out of all the decks?
I don't have one because I'm not all that familiar with them

What is your least favorable/understood card?
I cannot answer this question because as I said above, I'm not all that familiar with them

What else is important to you regarding discussion of these decks?
I think I would benefit from anything that I learn here. I do feel that a clear direction would benefit me and maybe if we looked at each card individually however, I'm easy and will go along with the approach the study group is taking

just a quick question for everyone, how do you *read* your oracle cards? to be more precise, how much meaning from the booklet do you incorporate aswell as your intuition? ie: only booklet, whatever stands out to you or querant in the booklet, or only intuition?
another question, which i am trying myself to remember much much more during readings, how much relevance to you apply to the position in the spread? sometimes when i'm just doing a quick 3 card reading i tend to forget the past present future elements and just take the cards as a running story, if that makes sense? obviously in bigger spreads i take notice of position relevance though.
thoughts, insights, opinions and experiences are greatly appreciated.

My fav decks are Healing with the Angels and Magical Unicorns.

The "angels" appeal to me because they are so quintessentially spiritual, of course. Also, the art is mostly classical in style, which I like a lot. It's a comfort thing, too, because I've had my angel oracle for quite a long time - since I first began reading any kind of cards at all.

My angel deck has a unique history. It is actually three decks in one; there's the deck of 44 cards that I started with, then I added another complete set in Spanish that my mom gave me. I had tried to change to reading the Spanish deck, but I missed my first deck, so I just combined them. Then, I started getting individual cards sent to me by an anonymous friend; someone sent me about 30 angel cards in the span of almost a whole year. I think it was one of my regular querents, but I never tried very hard to find out, 'cuz I thought it was kind of neat to keep it a mystery. The whole thing was very sweet and special.

Anyway, now I am reading with a 120-card, bi-lingual deck of Healing Angels. ;)

My unicorn deck is still kind of new to me. So far, I am enjoying it for personal readings. The art is very reminiscent of childhood storybooks, and the card messages are also very childlike and innocent. It is a gentle and positive deck that I have found especially useful when seeking reassurance or comfort about an issue.

My Magical Unicorns are also a double-deck, because I'd already gotten so comfortable with reading my angels that way. My first set of unicorns was a gift from a special friend, but it wasn't until I purchased a second deck to add to it that I felt comfortable reading with the unicorns.

That kind of leads to your questions about how I read my oracles. I looked through the little books for the decks maybe once or twice, but ultimately, I read based on my own "vibes" or intuition. I like to keep in mind card placement in particular spreads; also, a repeat card in a spread indicates greater focus or intensity.

Sometimes I do like you said you do, and I just read the cards as they come, like a story. Also, you can't beat the trusty one-card-draw, especially for yes-or-no questions.

that is a fantastic way of reading your cards! i absolutely love it! have you ever studied spanish? or is it just a way (sorry that sounds so...common) of allowing your own intuition 100% to come through to the reading without being clouded by the words on the card. although it has just occured to me that you'd probably be able to know what the card is anyway! lol.
i will keep that in mind for the future, if i ever feel the need for something different or challenging. although for the moment i am enjoying developing deeper bonds and getting extra comfortable with the decks i already have. i hope to one day feel like all of the decks feel as comfortable as my wedding rings, that i'm naked without them and feel that they are *me*. at the moment they do feel comfortable, but i'm still learning with them.

i have quite a few doreen cards, and i do love reading with them all. each deck brings about a different style/focus on the reading. such as the archangels i've noticed provide such an understanding as to how & why on an unconscious/sub-conscious level about the topic of the reading. her fairy deck, i don't read with all that often at all, but they are so to the point. the saints and angels deck allows me to delve incredibly deep and i often have very visual & cognitive readings with this deck. the messages from the angels deck is a great pick me up and general gloss over deck, but can offer great insight on how to proceed. i could go on...check out my profile for which decks i have. if you want to chat or compare and read with the cards pm me :-) i've been abit inactive on the boards recently, but am getting back here on a frequent basis and am reading to jump back in again.

I get a lot out of the ascended Masters - good for a quick Past, Present, Future and I don't use the book but read intuitively.

I also lay them out differently.
I shuffle until the "feel " right, then deal three across the top saying in my mind past, present, future. Still with my eyes shut I deal more cards onto first the past until my intuition tells me - "no this goes on the present" and do the same until I now have three lines of cards - usually 2 - 5 cards per line. By dealing with my eyes shut and using my intuition _ get some scarily correct results - also the means I attribute to the cards is in some cases different to the book - depending on the situation.

"Indriel" "You are a light worker, God needs you to shine your divine light and love- like an angel- upon the earth and all of its inhabitants"

5. What is your least favorable/understood card?
"Serephina" "I am the angel of families, a happy change or addition is coming to your family". - I just think the image itself looks strange.. I like the angel's wings but I think it looks like a cartoon face holding a real baby.. odd looking.

6. What else is important to you regarding discussion of these decks?
Whatever else I need to know. There is always something new to learn. :D

I read similarly to you as well in as much as doing so entirely intuitively, pulling as many cards as i feel necessary, and read them intuitively too, regardless of what the 'assigned' card meaning is meant to be.
thinking about this deck makes me inspired to do a few readings with them, maybe later in the week i'll get them out...

I have the angel therapy oracle deck ... i agree i also read then intuitively.. gives me a feel for what they might mean to me aside from what the 'official' meaning might mean..

i use my crystal ally cards and my angel therapy oracle deck every day i give myself a readings on various aspects (crystal ally for my daily crystal message and angel threapy oracle if i have a deep more pressing personal issues to deal with.)
