View Full Version : Tarot Gets Everywhere These Days!
My boyfriend has recently gone mad about the Sims series of games...
Well, in the Sims, Living It Up, one of the careers you can have is a Tarot Reader! So, naturally, that's what I wannabe on the game!
It seems Tarot is poppng up everywhere though... So, I was wondering where's the strangest place you've seen Tarot mentioned? I've also seen it in a very funny KitKat advert...

There are these computer/tv games in the bar and you can do several fortune telling a few ways. There are two tarot choices. One can also email from it.(but not recieve)Then of course there are card games and such. only costs a quarter.
I've been watching Bigbrother 3, UK, and last week they were given two sets of tarot decks - I tried to see which they had been given but I couldn't quite see - I think the one deck had instructions on, they didn't seem to be using a book so that may have been the Rider Waite from the starter set but I didn't get to see the other deck being used.
Its made me curious, none of the housemates except Sophie (she was voted out last night) were even remotely interested in these cards so I don't know what happened to them.
I'm going to email Bigbrother to see if they can tell me what decks they were lol :)
I can't remember when I saw it, but there was a little blip on TV down in our Pioneer Square historic district, and they were talking to a tarot reader. Of course, my interest was "what cards is she using???" I couldn't quite tell. LOL.
(Kiama, if your BF needs any hints for that little obsession they call the Sims, let me know...:D)
In the first series of Aussie Big Brother last year, Sarah-Marie had the Angel Oracle which she consulted in the herb garden almost every day. Now it is about the most common deck you can buy!
Ahhh, the Sims, such a classic game driven to death by the increasingly poor add-on packs...The original is the best, I find...I loved getting them awesome furniture and stuff! Yeah, Tarot's everywhere, in movies it's always fun to see the same cards come up again and again (The Lovers, Death, The Fool...) saw some in Charmed the other day...There was a "Despair" card, can you get that?
I guessed what deck the BB3 housemates were using... Its only a guess, based on the fact that they had instructions on the cards...
Starter Tarot, or maybe Basic Tarot... I'd love to know if I'm right!
In the first Big Brother (UK), Sada, the first to be evicted, and my all time fave housemate, had a deck of Tarot cards, but I couldn't see which ones... But she was still using a book, and I actually manged to name all the cards she had spread in that readin, by the meanings she read for them! He he... My family thought I was crazy!

I just started playing an old Playstation game called Persona, part of it you get cards from monsters then merge them together to get stronger characters for yourself, I noticed that all of these new cards you make are classed under a Major card for no apparent reason that i can determine, like one is called Ixl, itll be displayed as MAGICIAN Ixl. Cool, but pointless lol
:THP
P.S.The main character has no default name, so I named him Valerio Pollux ;)

I saw someone do the Tarot on one of the Real world shows on MTV..They used a rider-waite and the Nancy Garens book Tarot made easy...On a commercial here for Empire Carpet they were making fun of Miss Cleo using a tarot reader..would pull a card and it would have 30% off your carpet purchase..of course the lady was going "I see 30% off your carpet and ohhh -pulls another card- next day delivery!!" the woman on the phone very excited..

*LOL* I guess I am the only one who can get that... Well, if I can't have an oversea acquired nephew, a PC (= playing character) of a RPG-like game is ok. *LOL* :D
I never told you, but I re-started an old RPG, and I had to form a party of FOUR with the possibility to set every setting of each playing character as I pleased. Well, I was tempted to form a coven more than a party, I had the personalities and names already there... *ROFLOL* :D
But in the end I just decided that the Sorcerer would have been an Elven Lady (got additional multi-classing EXP :D), and that her name would have been Liliana... :D
Sorry, I only now realise I am completely off topic, and I am flirting with Liliana... :( *LOL*
As for BB, the italian edition only features a psychic... and she didn't tell she was till they kicked her out...
But I have tarot cards on kitchen paper. :P
I was innocently reading a new book - Once Upon a Winter's Night by Dennis L. McKiernan, and the characters began to play "taroc", a game where the cards had arcane trumps, and the suites were cups, wands, swords and pentacles, and the characters discuss tarot reading.
Talk about sneaking in somewhere, LOL.
Hey Pollux, you were looking for things to send me, how about a roll of that paper itd be cool ;)
Howd you know I was an elf ;) I prefer a priest class myself, but if the game doesnt have one sorceror will do lol

There was an episode of the Simpsons where Lisa got a Tarot reading. The fortune teller turned over the Death card and Lisa freaked out. Then Lisa turned over a card and it was the "Happy Squirrel," which made the fortune teller freak out!
Sarah Ovenall made a Happy Squirrel card for the Victoria Regina Tarot. You can download and print it on her website.

Hi Hi Hi... that is my favourite episode of the Simpsons.
When she imagines her future, her Prince Charming and all...
thank you Kyrielle!!! I had nearly forgotten it! :)
And, I found out there are even more videogames featuring Tarot Cards. Bust a MOve 4 for example (mine is for PSX): you go on taking up "worlds" that correspond to a tarot card. And you can usually choose between 4 or 5, till you finish them all and get to the next group. And in the end, when you finish the game, you enable the Tarot Reading option: a Star of David Spread, featuring REVERSED!!! *LOL*

Kiama, I have the sims and every expansion pack, of course!
In the US the expansion packs are a little different. You have "Livin' it up", we have "Livin' Large". There's also "House Party", "Hot Date" and "Vacation"! I admit, 4 expansion packs is a bit much, but I especially like Hot Date and the downtown. In my version, there isn't a tarot reader, but there is a "telephone psychic" career. (maybe he advances to tarot reader? not sure) . There's a nifty telephone psychic outfit to go with it!
I've always thought the sims Should have a tarot deck!
Instead they can buy a really dumb and overpriced "crystal ball" that they can scry in. Something like "Madame Blahfry's crystal gazing, and it gives really tacky fortunes!
You can also download an infinite ton of clothes , stuff , and junk , wallpaper, for your sims from online sites!
Next year they are going to come out with "sims village" or something like that. You will be able to play your game online. I think it's something you pay for monthly though.

How about the Tarot characters as Sims? The Fool living next door to the Empress, bugging the High Priestess whenever she tries to meditate... they get into a fight and Temperance has to break it up. But then Strength's pet lion gets loose...

LOL! That is such a cool idea Kyrielle! The poor ol' Hermit just wouldn't know what to do with himself amongst all the chaos! :P
And The Emperor would win the elections and become the Town Major, and The Magician would be the local phisician, The Devil might run a Sexy Shop, and The Lovers would be the newly married young couple whose dream is to create the typical Corn-flakes commercials Family 2 kids a dog and double income...
But how would you use minors?
The King of Swords would be the barber. The Queen of Cups would drive a Pub. The Page of Pentacles would be the grocer's... *lol*
(you know, about: blank, one of those) really wierd!
