Hi everyone,

I'm just starting my deck for my husband, and would love any tips. I'll try to post them as I go, assuming I can figure it out.

My first question then is about theme. He loves the dark, but also dragons, ancient Celts and Egypt as well, and probably some more I'm forgetting. I just want it to not be too 'girly' - if it were for me I'd go with Faeries or Goddess.

Also, If I tried to go 3 x 5, and best colour card stock to use?

Finally, I don't think I'm much of an artist - so ideas on how to get onto the cards would be great.

Thank you and Blessed Be,

Skyla,

First I'd say to try to pick one theme. If you try to squeeze too much into one deck then it might be hard to read the cards.

As for size there are many different card stocks or photo paper sizes out there. And if you wanted a specific size you could always create it on different sized stock and cut them out.

I'm definetly not an artist so for my deck I utilized graphic art on the computer. Granted I was using screen shots but I think computer graphics are a great way to go for those of us who cannot draw, paint, etc. You could find images from books and scan them in or go ont he web looking for graphics. I designed my deck in Powerpoint with a Mac but you could use Adobe Page maker. In that way you can even design the look of the background of the cards as well as the backing and so forth, font, etc.

If not the computer you could always do a sort of collage deck with cutting out pictures and pasting them to card stock. I once read of a great idea for a "life" tarot where someone took polaroid shots and cut them out to make their own deck.

I hope this helped a little. If you have any questions I'd be glad to try my best at giving my two cents.

Blessed be.
