3 of pentacles and Tom Builder

catlin

Catgrrls thread on the 3 of pentacles brought up an interesting association in me: relating tarot cards to literal characters, e. g. the 3 of pentacles of the RW deck recalled Tom Builder of Ken Follet's "The Pillars of the Earth" to me, a master craftsman building the first Gothic Church in Great Britain.

The Devil card makes me think of Captain Ahab from Moby Dick, whereas the 4 of pentacles recalls Ebenezer Scrooge to me.

Do you have similar associations?

The 9 of Cups always reminds me of the Squire of Dingley Dell manor in Dickens' Pickwick Papers. The VII of Wands of Little John (in Robin Hood). The Hermit has something of Gandalf the Grey about him, the Magician...hum, John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever

The High Priestess always looks to me like an Arabian Nights storyteller.

The slightly oriental garb, the pillars, the book. :)

The three of cups looks like some delightful scene out of a Jane Austin novel.
