An interesting snippet of astrological information is that Al Gore's Sun degree is this one - The President of the Country or The Ruler of the Nation.

This is quite interesting in the light of the fact that many believe that Gore actually won the election he stood against George W. Bush! Of course he did spend years being the vice president to Bill Clinton, so he did fulfill the spirit of the meaning of the Symbol regardless of whether he 'should' have been president or not :)

I see this degree, amongst other things, as being about taking charge of our lives, being able to direct and control our lives the way we want them to be. It can be, of course, someone else lording it over us and trying to take away our ability to think for ourselves.

The Symbol makes sense for Al Gore! Not being very 'up' on most political debates - I do remember this one very well - as I thought he had won. Which Symbol would he have been in opposition to at the election (What is George W. Bush' Symbol?)

This symbol for me is about authority, power and control. It may also represent personal views and opinions AND the follow through in actions and commands. I also see people with this as a sun symbol or Juipter often own their own business or are in control of important things.

:) I always seem to see this as two different people.........two different regimes.

The ruler as a reigning monarch, a king or queen, holding their position as one of birthright. An ancient heritage with long traditions and whose government often is a little archaic and dated.

The president of the republic is of a later time,often coming into being after a revolution or conflict, the people weary of their leader and wanting change ........his government more progressive and up to date.

Ideally what is needed is the best of the old and new combining together.

As individuals this symbol asks us "Who rules the country of Yourself"

The President may answer with great confidence......." I do. I am the one who is charge. I've been through a revolution.........made changes.......thrown out all that was limiting me. I am in control.

Far below in the unconscious the old ruler just smiles and waits..........he knows different.

Old behaviour patterns,responses and emotional fears can be so familiar to us , so deeply entrenched that we don't see them as such which makes them very dangerous.

I think the greatest danger is when we are in the process of change........actively moving onto a new path or starting a new project. Making decisions with confidence .........knowing we're facing a challenge and proud of ourselves for facing the fears this challenge involves. In control.

What I've discovered over the past few weeks is that you can never be sure you are. I rode into this symbol on the back of a tiger :D...........and got eaten alive. It wasn't what I was doing but how I was doing it.............in the same tired old repeating pattern I always have and the only one in charge of this exciting new journey was ..............Fear! :(
At least discovering that I could make changes but I have the feeling there may be more dangers lurking.

Green adventurine sounds perfect.........mental alertness.......keep the lookouts patrolling!

Looking at mooncat2's painting I can't help but wonder if the red mountains are that of iron....a legal proscecutor??

Right away this gives me a feeling of a false sense of freedom. We have the freedom to 'explore his domain', but.....it's confined to his territory. Eek!

In purple_scorp's image, I see this as someone who 'needs' to be held in right regard...it's important to them!!

Very perceptive, tink! :) I think most of us would like to be held in high regard for what we do . A harsh inner critic constantly telling you that you're not good enough has you believing that.........becoming what you fear. Projected outward then there is only the expectation of criticism and rejection.......so don't go there........stay safely in the burrow.

This speaks volumes to me. I'd love to explore this later with everyone!

Being a bit wild here....Could this "Red Rock" symbolize a sacrifice of of sorts....the hidden Promethian Fire.....so that the power of regeneration and of procreation could be given? Tis this not the color of the 1st Chakra where the coiled snake lays hidden??

This symbol has so many different values to it.....we could be discussing it for days, weeks, months!

Alot of my work is on the road, and there are times I can get to do a lot of thinking. Today was one of those days! Here's some of my thoughts.....

These people are achievers, always trying to justify their existence their self-worth….they always doing......never stoping to learn who they are under the surface.

This symbol definitely seems to lie in the realm of politics. It is highly individualistic and most assurdedly dramatic too. If in power, this person could leave their mark on the people and society…..(first impressions are lasting ones) ruling firmly and harshly.

With Aries as the ruler here, it’s natural energies of power and authority could become delusional….remember Hitler, he was very interested in the occult and his dark nature searched for secrets to discover ways in which people could be manipulated. During his reign of terror, his was so persuasive and convincing, his people believed he really meant what he was telling them. He was the all powerful and they were the inadequate ones...never up to his standards.

This lead us to mooncat2's statement again

We all begin our journey of evolution as part of a tribe then a group or organization and our first definition of what willpower is, is how we use and manipulate this energy to possess (yes possess) and control others. If you are the one that becomes the possessed, you become a sheep within a herd, lead by the almighty shepherd. We unconsciously take on this shepherds habits, thoughts, perceptions, daily rituals, etc., without even thinking about it. It's in our 'makeup'.

And if we wish to pull away from the herd, we are met with all kinds of complications.....they go against the grain of everything we've learned....upseting not only our everday life but our physical body too. It's as if it goes into a state of revolt!!! And a lot of us, because of this upheaval, will abandon, and abort any new ideas. We get thinking 'it was much better before'.....everything in our life's was organized by another....but when we start to take it over it's disorderly and messy!

So we go through life like robots, slaves, fearing the inner changes that could happen if we did what we wanted to do, or even inventing or thinking up new and different ideas!!

I myself have been through these changes, more than once! And I've had to plow through the dirt, debris and garbage to get through it...literally and metaphorically.....I threw so much old stuff out! And each time I've plowed through it, I can feel a new and stronger energy surging through me.....spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.

I think this is why the symbol of the Train colliding with the car (Cancer 5)meant so much to me. So many times I was told growing up 'you can't do that' and as I grew older, I proved that I could.....but I had to crash through with a battering ram to destroy old standing structures to do it.

We have learning so much from these symbols lately, and with purple_scorp and mooncat2's collages and pictures, they are activating something! I can feel it within me. Don't get me wrong, the 360 Sabian symbols started activating an inner frequency in me when I first joined here, but the pictures are like a jumper cable with a 1000 more watts of power. It's as if scattered energy within my body is seeking each other out and aligning and rejoining together. I'm not sure this is a great description of how I'm feeling but something is definitely awakening!

Wow, huredriel, I'm impressed that you suggested Ayers Rock (http://www.atn.com.au/nt/south/uluru.htm) though it is a much larger rock than the one pictured.

I think these rocks are The Olgas (http://www.australia.travelmall.com/travelmall/attraction/Red+Centre+and+Central+Australia+(NT)/The+Olgas) which are down the road from Ayers Rock.

Part of the body for Aries is the head! Isn't it great when these little coincidences pop up.

With your two posts here, I can't help but think that this is not only an exploration of the treasures of the mind but also of our limitations. In recognizing the limitations of our present standpoint (the Olgas) we need to examine our prejudices, our hopes and values in a much broader way. It raises issues in the political and social arena about our environment and ecology and the future of our planet!

If we are all rulers of this planet, then the Olgas are forcing us to raise important questions about our moral, political, and even our metaphysical and religious, values and beliefs. We cannot take for granted such things as the continuation of economic growth and what we feel is our right to exploit living things for our own purposes. The Olgas to me are forcing us to look back to the basics of all life!!!

With all the discussions before this, this is not merely a concern of cleaning up our environment......it's a fundamental shift in consciousness!!! And to do this we have to have the courage to open our minds and rexamine long held convictions and patterns. Many of our attitudes to our world are embedded in our way of thinking, which definitely runs deep........and which is rarely sought after and examined.

It is a great description, tink..........that is how I've been feeling too.

This symbol has definitely opened my eyes too! The garden of delights was once a state of innocence, and as many myths do tell us, it's been our own wilfullness that has separated us from nature.....as I was driving yesterday I looked at all the 'artificial constructs' we have built, defending ourselves from or should I say against Nature's awesome powers!

Oh my! I have shivers too! This is so-o-o beautiful Marina!

The first people, the Holy People we have discovered were the ones that used their minds and imaginations to create the Natural Way that was in keeping with the Natural Laws of our planet. This makes me think of a wonderful book called "Mutant Message Down Under" by Marlo Morgan....I absolutely loved it!!!

It was many years ago, and they supported another great Aussie band - Australian Crawl. It was actually my first date with my ex-husband.....seems that rock wasn't that solid after all......mwahahahaha!

Well finally I'm daring to enter this door ....... may get a bit confused on this one as it's a personal sign for me ..... this is my North Node ........ which sits in Pisces, House 5 ....... not that I'm sure what that means :D ....... but I do know that this is the karmic sign, aspiration if you will ....... and I dunno, but having this as a personal sign seems rather egotistical ..... especially with the title given *wrinkles nose*.

So off on my random musings (can't stay in 1-10 forever ;)).

So ..... two aspects here ....... one general, the other personal .......

General ...... a ruler, leader ...... royalty or those that are placed upon such pedestals ....... that the *mere mortals* can look up to and aspire to be like ....... one who has power and can affect the lives of many ....... makes me think does this burden sit comfortably with them? Do they need recognition ........ does it come naturally or is it forced upon them? How does one embrace such aspects without letting it affect them ....... their opinions of self, their actions to others? Of course they can be born to it ...... or fight their way to it ........ a position that others can also look upon with envy ........ someone in command, able to take decisions ...... monumental decisions ..... make or break rules ....... someone who sits as does Justice deciding the fate of others.

Then the personal aspect ....... the region of self. As Mooncat2 stated Who rules the country of yourself? ...... and wouldn't we all like to think that we rule ourselves ....... yet very often this is not the case. We can think we do ........ but until we truly know ourselves ........ how can we know what we rule? If that makes sense?

So we have the fiery I AM of Aries ....... sitting alongside Justice ....... a card of balance and air ....... the mental realms ........ quite an opposite I feel ...... especially since Justice to me is Libra (my south node and opposite sign to Aries). A push pull between energy and thought ...... what to do, what to think ......... which way to go ....... makes me think of the 2 swords actually ........ blindfolded and sitting still because it's easier doing nothing than making the wrong choice.

The title to me speaks of *greatness* ........ power, control ...... on a pedestal almost ..... revered, respected, possibly even feared by others. Tink mentioned Hitler ..... I believe he was numerologically an 11/2 ....... which I am too. Something I remembered from one of Mooncat2's many pearls of wisdom was about walking this path ...... the spiritual self of 11, or the ego/material self of 2 ...... what a hard line that can be ......... how do you get the balance right? How do you sense when those scales can tip in one direction or another?

Aventurine ........ a beautiful crystal, one I have at home actually ....... mental alertness ..... but also the colour of the heart chakra ...... perhaps this is where some of the balance can be obtained ........ to feel with the heart instead of only the head ......... not letting the power go to the head, instead trying to remain humble and modest?

Hmmmm, be back later as I'm at work and this just isn't flowing well!

Hmmmm I'm thinking here of the inner *self* ..... the soul, the entire being ..... that is part and parcel of the very fabric of the universe ....... so here the word *country* could mean *self* ....... the karmic structure chosen and imprinted upon the soul ....... with my north node of trying to achieve command, presidency, control of the self in Aries 11.

Am I personalising this sign too much?
I think it's a matter of personal choice how you wish to work with the symbols.
Because I consider this journey as a step by step discovery path I personalise every sign because that is how I get to the understanding of what it means for me..............but I haven't come to any of my own symbols yet and that may make a difference.

The Aries/Libra nodal path is basically about self v others...........the 5/11 houses add extra emphasis to this.

Finding the balance between the two is something we all struggle for.......having it as a nodal path probably means that it has extra importance for your spiritual progress.
The past influence suggests the need for another...........seeing the self as one part of a twosome.
The title to me speaks of *greatness* ........ power, control ...... on a pedestal almost ..... revered, respected, possibly even feared by others.
Looking for these things in someone else..........having someone to love and look up to. Needing someone else to feel whole.

Aries...........self identity..........finding the things you look for in another within yourself.

A person is more comfortable with the south node because its where they're coming from...........been there, done that! It conflicts with the need to develop the qualities of the north node which is unknown territory...........hence the push/pull.
I AM trying to be the best that I can be?
What else can one do!..............and it sure beats doing nothing and accepting the status quo.

I've had to return here from Aries 21 :D

I AM having an identity crisis.
I AM confused.
I AM not the I AM I thought I was. ;)

Try some stream of consciousness writing starting every sentence with I AM...............very revealing.

Another thought .......

I AM trying to be the best that I can be?

Been ruminating on this ........ and sent this to someone:

"not something to be *achieved* like an exam ........ more of a daily basis ...... to be the best that you can be each day ...... so that when *judgement* comes and you view yourself, you can see that you did truly achieve it? "

So this is not a hurried symbol ....... one instead that shows you the way forward, what you could achieve ..... a path to walk ....... slowly ...... bit by bit ...... embracing old and new ....... love and fear ..... again ...... and something from a reading I just did ....... *the dance of balance*.
