View Full Version : Best Crystal(s) For ADHD?

OK... I need you lovely people to give me some suggestions, if you don't mind!

I have ADHD, and it's been getting me pretty out of focus lately... I have always had a @$&#* of a time meditating because of my ADHD, I can not focus and quiet my mind to save my life! I eventually gave up on the idea of myself and full meditation... I'm just not ready for that, at least not at this point in time!

Anyway my question is:

What is a good stone to use to help gather yourself mentally in a situation without stopping to meditate?

Maybe you stop for a moment, focus on the crystal, then resume work... What are good stones for this? I need suggestions for types to try so that I may find a good one for myself! :)

If you don't understand what I mean, here is an example:

If I am working on my job (I work online) and am having a hard time focusing... I need a stone I can keep by my computer so that I can focus on it from time to time for a few moments, and then resume work again. This way I can regroup and gather myself, without completely stopping and disrupting all of my work.

Does that make sense?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! :D

Turquoise really helps me when I'm scattered mentally. I have a beaded turquoise necklace that I wear on spacey-scattered days, and also a tumble stone that I either hold or place near me while working.

To quote Judy Hall from the Crystal Bible ' ......mentally Turquoise instills inner calm while remaining alert and aids cretive expression...........physically Turq is an excellent stone for exhaustion, depression and even panic attacks.

Hope it helps you the way it helps me

Hmm... I have a turquoise chip necklace (which I just put on, to see if it makes a difference).

I was always afraid to wear this before because I have quite the over-active throat chakra *laughs* I wasn't sure if it'd make that worse or not!

I'll try it and let you know if it helps, thanks for the suggestion! :)

Onyx.

Hmm... I don't know if I have any Onyx, I think I might have a very small piece though...

I'll go look through my crystals later :)

Thank you for the suggestion! :D

As a fellow ADHD (and boy do I score high on that test...), I have found that all the crystals and stones that work too high up on the chakra line just make it worse. What we (those of us who get to enjoy ADD/ADHD) need is something that 'grounds' us. It needs to ground us well, and fast.
A chip of onyx is okay...but a chunk is better. You know if you go to 'metaphysical' stores they have those stone skulls? Hunt one down made of onyx. It'll do the trick.

Edited to add: Some crystals and semi-precious stones tend to open chakras (like Turquoise - which has its uses), what we need is grounding...

stay away from stones that work (or vibrate) with the crown or brow (unless you're doing crown or brow work).

HI, I agree with Umbrae, if it is ADHD - as opposed to a feeling of stress, over worked, tired and busy..... Onyx - a chunk would be best, I would personally pop the other crystals into a pot plant (even though they OPEN you up,t hey DO help, you just need their help in small ammounts when concentrating on work) make sure the pot plant is close to you - its filtering the good stuff and is VERY grounding...

Hope you find something to help soon - Id be interested in finding out how it goes.

I really want to try the Onyx but I do not have any actually (I checked).

Is there somewhere I can buy crystals online without a credit card? *laughs*

There are no crystal stores near me... I have to drive at least half an hour to get to one, and considering I don't have a car or drive... makes it difficult! ;)

I have paypal but can only send echecks. *shrug*

I desperately need a credit card! Hehe.

i think this is a sign!! i have this angel board (doreen virtues) and asked what would best help me with add and i got a strong answer" crystals" i have some but don't feel anythign at all from them. so 'm confused myself where to go with this...

two types of crystal come to mind:

kyanite and flourite

Kyanite has the power to calm you, and balance your aura w/o absorbing too much negativity. It is blue and layered.

Flourite has teh power to break down your problems (in this case break down your overcharged energy) and comes in varoius colors including purple, green, yellow, and clear.

My son has ADD...the easily distractable type NOT the hyperactive type. I did some research and found that Tiger Eye, (a very common stone where I live) was supposed to be quite helpful in maintaining mental clarity and being able to work with small details. It promoted optimism and social confidence in groups.

Well, I got my son a Tiger Eye bracelet and let me tell you, it really did help! I would see my son stroking or tugging on it during the day and he was able to get completely off all his ADD medications. He's made more friends and seems much happier. Most telling to me, is that when he's forgotten his bracelet for a while, eventually he tracks it down and starts wearing it again--on his own, because he 'feels better' when wearing it.

I would highly recommend at least a trial of Tiger Eye--easily obtainable, not very expensive--before moving on to more expensive crystals. :) JMHO.

I have a few loose pieces of Tiger's Eye, and a lovely Tiger's Eye chip necklace. I'll deffinately try those, thank you!

Hmm I have a Flourite pendant on order coming in the mail soon... don't know when it will get here though. I will try that as well once it arrives, thank you too!

Usually I'd say it's so early it'd be hard to tell... but I definately think the Tiger's Eye chip necklace helps! :D

I'll post more about it later, when I get more details! :)

I've been wearing my turquoise and tiger's eye chip necklaces, they have been working wonderfully!

I recommend both of these to anyone dealing with ADHD, definitely worth a try! :)

I just had to post when I saw this thread since it is always nice to see I'm not alone! Yes, I have ADHD too... :D

I usually wear a tiger's eye buddha bead bracelet on my right wrist and I love it! I also read that possibly green calcite could help. I have a beautiful emerald green tumble stone. Also, today I bought some new stones and would like to know what people here can tell me about them: rainbow moonstone, sodalite, black tourmaline and smoky quartz. Oh, almost forgot I bought a tiny pink kunzite as well.

Peace and love,
Aure

kimberly,

my daughter also has been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. For her colors help--so she has painted & decorated her house in various colors that aid her to stay focused. one color she is very drawn to is purple. on a website i frequent regarding colors, it says about purple-

PURPLE
Purple is also a color that will connect you with your spiritual self. It is good for mental and nervous problems. It will assist very well with rheumatism and epilepsy. Helps with pain, is used in deep tissue work and helps heal the bones. Too much purple and you don't tend to live in this world.

this color seems to help her alot. maybe you can paint your room a light purple or have purple deco--(flowers, candles, etc.) in your room where you work- it may help you.

good luck.

For Tiger Eye, could there be a difference between gold, red and iron within the context of this thread?

yes there is a slight difference between tiger eye, red tiger eye and tiger iron - do a google search for their different meanings (i would post them here but i have to nip off to the other side of the country in a min! lol)

as for add or adhd, then try grounding stones such as those that are indicated for using with the base chakra.

they are usually the black and red stones....hematite, onyx, obsidian, garnet, red tiger eye and the adrker colours of carnelian.

and don't forget to cleanse them at least once a week to release them of the energy they are taking from you. ;)

As one of the group - I agree, we need grounding- it's so easy for our higher mind to take flight. I'm watching this thread with great intrest.

My entire bedroom is a deep purple, I don't know how well it works, but i can agree that it is very easy to get lost in your spiritual self and feel disconnected from day to day goings on. Its always so much deeper than that - and day to day seems like such an frivilous exercise. So not too much purple, ADHD is ADHD weather its career or spiritual-
