Anyone in Canadian Tarot Association?

Cosmotaroist

I looked at their website yesterday....anyone who are members would like to share their experience??

has anyone gone through their certification process?? I mean the first level doesnt look bad...but then for higher levels you need to use reversals?!? I thought thats a bit unfair....because for some decks and even some pretigious tarot professionals do not use reversals....im not saying its bad but i would like to have an option.....anyways....just wanna know anyone who has been in the association who might wanna share some thoughts!

There used to be a lot of interest in becoming
a Certified Tarot Grand Master (100% what?)
but the money machine has dried up lately...
all the big shots got their piece of paper free.

Why not e-mail Eileen Croutch...
she's probably expecting you!

Save Your Money

Ohhhh.... a few years ago I joined the ATA
(The American Tarot Association) because
it was having serious problems due to their
original administration. I wanted to support
them in re-establishing a good reputation~
I did 1800 free readings, I'm proud of that,
but not to become certified and they don't
do that there anyway. Well, certification...

Well~ the whole thing costs people money,
you have to buy your way up the levels...
and all you get if they bother to send it, is
a piece of paper. Celebrities get them free,
providing a patina of respectable credibility.

Canada became the choice for many people
who wanted something more reliable and so
you see them pop up from time to time and
that's all there is~ Much ado about Nothing.

I should add, the readings were very real~
and there was time and work involved too,
just to begin, they were done on computer
and nobody here should image that means
automatically easy. And there were people
from all around the world, and the readings
were important and done with great care...
the best part though were the friendships~
the people I got to know as fellow readers.

so without certification....one can still become a "professional"?
Also, what are some other benefits of being members? of the Canadian T A?

To address Cosmotaroist's question as regards certification and professionalism, the two are distinct:
Certification is an internally provided organisation-specific piece of paper or register log that meets its particular way of seeing things;

Professionalism arises out of oneself and reflects each public and interpersonal instance in which one uses tarot.

The two are distinct.

The courses and support offered by, for example, Norma Cowie (of the CTN) are undoubtedly genuine and beneficial (as education by any experienced person is likely to be).

The certification by the CTN worthless. And certainly not something someone needs to be professional, nor something someone needs to engage professionally in reading Tarot in Canada.
