This spread assumes there are two people involved who are in a relationship. It is laid out in columns basically.

..............OTHER................BOTH...........YOU/QUERANT

.........................................13....................................

............3..................................................................8

..........................5..............................10...................

.............2..........................11...................................7

...........................4..............................9.....................

............1..................................................................6

.........................................12.....................................

Cards 1 and 6: FOUNDATION. They represent the foundation of this relationship, personal views, patterns of relating to one another thus far, etc.

Cards 2 and 7: "PAST" RELATIONS. This card is specifically for past relationships of importance i.e. past significant other, ex-spouse, fiancee. If there is no significant other, it will also shed light on issues from childhood, specifically parent-child relating patterns. (That is why past is in quotes...) This is to shed light on what each person carries with them, whether conscious or not.

Cards 3 and 8: OTHER. This is an important card. It reveals what else is going on in your life that is an influence on the behavior within the relationship: work/career influence, private thought-life, struggles.

Cards 4 and 9: LETTING GO. This is what each person needs to leave behind (card 4 is for other and card 9 is for you). This could be habits, attitudes, viewpoints...

Cards 5 and 10: EMBRACING. This is what each needs to embrace, accept, take, move towards...

Card 11. MEETING IN THE MIDDLE. This one card represents what both parties need to "meet in the middle"...

Card 12. HOPE AND FEAR. Mutual hope and/or fear.

Card 13. POTENTIAL OUTCOME. I prefer to turn cards over until a major arcana appears. The unused cards can be looked at for further clarification, or not.

I really hope that people enjoy this! It is one of the first spreads I have designed. Let me know what you think!

Ok Molly, I just had to come back today and tell you that this spread has inspired me into keeping a tarot journal at last. I thank you for that!

Now that I've got it captured, I intend to use this spread when the right moment/reading opportunity arrives.

Writing the spread out in my journal made it so crystal clear in my mind as well, THANK YOU!!!

Thanks Molly!

I wrote your spread down in my journal.

How do you go about making your own spread? I'm curious?

Hi Maiden, welcome to aeclectic! Glad you found this wonderful forum - I just love it.

I have to say that designing your own spread probably has to do with knowing how your mind works. You do have to have a feeling for what the point of a spread is, and then you have to decide about what the important issues are as you see them. I love geometric shapes, so the shape of the spread is important to me. Some people just make rows, as the shape/design isn't so important... I think it is a great way to really get into learning to read - as a spread coming from your own brain can make the most sense to you - if that makes any sense! LOL.

As far as advice on how to do it, I am not sure I can help. It is just a personal preferance thing. You could practice with smaller spreads at first. You can jot down things you want to know about and then practice making a design and assigning the meanings. Pick a place on the spread that seems to be an important spot for the outcome or thing that needs to be done actively... think about "inward" vs. "outward" or "conscious" vs. "subconscious" etc...

hope that helped :)

Molly,

I finally had a chance to put this spread into action yesterday to do a reading for a friend of mine and she felt she really got a lot outta it. Thank you again for sharing this one, I really like it.

The spread did a great job of examining both parties, and that was what she really liked about the reading. He, it seems, has a tendency for great haste (Knight swords came up, as well as 8 wands). She has a tendency and patterns that include drama queen inclinations (9 swords), and a long history of turbulent relationships with men, starting with her Dad in childhood (7 wands).

Interestingly, Devil came up in mutual hopes/fears. Talk about some serious reservations about the relationship (which she acknowledged readily). Meeting in the middle was the Knight of Pentacles, proceed with caution! Outcome? Seven swords, it's gonna be a journey alright.

Neat spread!

This is one of the best spreads I have ever tried! not hard to understand and very easy to "get in to".
The spread I did for my new boyfriend and me was very good! I got The Sun as the last card! Is that good or what!!

I will use this for helping my friends.
Thanx again!!
