View Full Version : "astrology of the tarot"
This 1930s book written by A. E. Thierens, first published as the "General Book of the Tarot", reprinted under the new title in 1975 but now out of print, is now available at sacred-texts.com
With a very :) colourful INTRO by A.E.Waite...
"As to where the Trumps Major originated, how and with whom, there is no conclave of adepts to tell us and no isolated student, holding evidential warrants. At the moment we can look only for more speculations and more dreams to come."
Isn't that the truth. Do we just accept, history-wise, that someone took the deck of cards and added the Trumps to it so as to get a game like Whist? The Trumps as a concept comes from the parades that Europe used to hold and the various archetypical-mythological figures that made up the parade, each one in succession "trumping" the one before it. Was Tarot born from someone making up a game?
